This man has taken this verse out of context. Jesus was telling a parable about what a king would say in a particular scenario. His parallel is with the day of judgement, when those who were not righteous would be sent out of God's presence. He wasn't saying to slaughter them before him there and then. This man has taken this verse out of context. Jesus was telling a parable about what a king would say in a particular scenario. His parallel is with the day of judgement, when those who were not righteous would be sent out of God's presence. He wasn't saying to slaughter them before him there and then. If people would read scriptures in context, this wouldn't happen.

The example that this monk used in regards to Luke chapter 19:27 was a parable. If you look at the ten commandments you will find that one of them is: thou shall not murder. Whether you like it or not, India is a country founded on Hinduism and I hope it will remain a Hindu nation. That's not to say that no Muslims or Christians can live in India. It is possible for every religion to live in harmony under a Hindu nation. One who honestly follows Hindu Dharma, won't ever be converted. Once he experienced the nectar of Dharma himself, he can't be lured by any other beliefs. Once he understood the Dharma correctly and clearly, he won't ever leave it because his experience of peace of mind and love of God would be much much greater than any materialistic influences of other beliefs. Read the Gita for complete knowledge-it aptly describes HUMAN SOCIETY(problems) & provides ways/solutions to free oneself from the clutches of the superficial world also known as maya (it teaches diff spiritual yoga disciplines such as karma, gyana, dhyana, bhakti ('self surrender' is just one aspect of bhakti yoga) etc.

hindu4ever- Swami Vivekananda is so right! Hinduism is not one uniform narrow dogma but it has something to offer for everyone, including atheists - that's why even an atheist can claim to be a Hindu! In fact in the Gita, it clearly states the following: "No one who does good deeds will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come. When such people die, they go to other realms where the righteous live." (he gets a temporary place in a heavenly realm depending on his good karma).

As an atheist - I think preaching that there even is an afterlife can cause people to have a dangerous lack of focus on improving life for everyone in *this* world - the only one we know to exist.
However.. I have to admit the philosophy you mention here is much better than the christian dogma of hellfire for people who don't think as they do.

Dear friend, the focus is to do as much good work as u can for yourself and for others in this life. Because humans only have the brains to "judge" what is good and what is bad. All the rest like cats, dogs snakes follow what they are meant to do.

Sounds reasonable enough.
Anyway.. hopefully more & more people are recognizing what a problem christian missionaries are everywhere. Aid & development should not be being provided by religious organisations. They unbalance the resources in poor areas. Of course they get conversions when they're a source of aid, jobs & reconstruction projects. It should instead be done by secular charities.

the emphasis is on good works/good karma to be done during your lifetime on this earth..........this is applicable to everyone equally and if people make a sincere effort to go good, this whole world would be so much more peaceful! it doesn't really matter that you (as an atheist) do not believe in an afterlife.....you'll find all eastern schools of philosophy emphasizing good work/good karma - this is law of nature - if you do good works, you get good results!

The essence of Bhagavad Geeta is selfless unconditional self surrender to the Almighty this is an aspect of bhakti yoga explained by Lord Krishna in Chaper 12 and also in Chapter 18 verse 66 of Bhagavad Geeta -
As they surrender, I reveal Myself. (Lord Krishna - Bhagavad Geeta 4.11)

Yes, true, if the person PROPERLY understands and follows the prescribed path of 'self-surrender', he attains liberation from the endless cycle of birth and death - that is called moksha or salvation.
(Other people, in accordance with their good karma, get a temporary place in a heavenly realm for a specified period of time ,after which they get reincarnated on Earth. That's why good works are emphasized in Eastern thought.)
Bhagavad Gita is full, complete spiritual knowledge.
