Thanks for the video, it help out a lot & to scrabblegirl I had the same problem last nite i was thinking I was going to Break it .... But to find out I had to turn it just a little harder & I got it to work... Good luck
Hey great video, but what do you do when your use your hex key and it won't turn, absolutely won't budge? This is the problem I am having now. I reset it, used the key everything that I know of and it still won't work. I hear the humming noise but cannot turn the hex key at all?
Thanks buddy, that worked really well. I had to use the wrench a few more times, but eventually it shook whatever was loose and the water drained right away.
Alex, thank you for posting your video. I would like to know if what you posted will help me unclog my garbage disposal if glass fell in the disposal.
@leilarmendez ... A casserole dish shattered in my sink while I was washing it which initially stopped up my disposal. I got out the glass pieces I could find and then reset the button which worked but there was still a piece in there. It stopped up again so I used the wrench. It worked like a charm.
Your training video is very detailed and easy to follow. One of the best in here; however, I have a question? I have a GE disposal but it does not have a hole on the bottom for the allen wrench so what should I do. Your kindness will be appreciated.
Worked for me. My disposal was not as easy to fix though. Had to turn it ALOT. Found pieces of glass in there and even after getting it to work it gun stuck very soon after. I used the wrench and made sure I could turn the wrench 360 degrees without any stops while turning it and after I could do that my disposal worked very well.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I came home today to a dead garbage disposal. I followed your steps and it's working again. Is your paypal acct information current? You just saved me $85! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the informative vid! I have a garbage disposal that was working one day and then "humming" the next. I couldn't find a clog so I followed the steps you've listed here and it still won't fire up. It just 'hums' when I turn it on. Any other ideas on what could be wrong?
wish I would have seen this sooner, but glad I did. Spent 2-3 weeks using "the other side" of the sink so I wouldnt clog the regular side. Too bad its almost 1am..I definitely have something stuck down in there (probably rocks from my fish tank thanks to my 3 year old) but glad the humming is gone & its actually doing something. Awesome thing too- my landlord taped the wrench to the piping under the sink so this was a super easy fix - THANK YOU!!!
Thank you very much man...your lecture was easy and precious...I fix the problem in 5 minutes...did get dirty and ...one less headache before going back to work...
Wow! You are sincerely a blessing! I dont have $100 to pay a plumber after my holiday budget....thanks to you, I can run my dishwasher and not have my sink back up due to my non-working disposal. Your expertise did the trick! Thank you so much! May God send blessings upon you and your family as you have done for so many with your YouTube channel!:)
Had two know-it-all guys say I had to buy a new one. NOT! When I turned it on and put some stuff down there, it worked. They rolled their eyes. WHATEVER BITCHES! Handy Chick in the house! LOL!
Thank you so much, it worked like the way you showed. Although, i did not have ur kind of a wrench but instead i used a flat head screw driver, worked just like said. thx a gain
Great video but my cheap *&^ disposal doesn't have a thingy for the wrench. Looked up the manual online and it told me to stick a broomstick down the disposal and turn it that way. Yes, I kid you not, and it worked by the way. One more way to unstick the "turntable"
Thank you very much, your tip helped gratefully this morning. Keep up the good work!!! Will keep looking for more great tips on your blog.... Thank you again!!!
Excellent advice! Great video! First I tried the reset button - nothing changed. Then I found a hex wrench and gave it a few turns and disposal is now working again!
IT worked~! So I tried many of those little hex things until I found the right size and man I had to turn that sucker with force because it was stuck.... But I just kept turning it and MAN it worked..
thanks so much dude, I was considering calling someone to put a new one in...
Thanks so very much, Alex! Your tip worked like a charm. I was pretty proud of myself when the disposal fired up again. Again, thanks for the video and great instructions.
Thanks for the video, Alex! My wife let a butter spreader with a thick, plastic handle go down the drain. Naturally, the disposal choked on the plastic after the handle shattered. The reset button failed to work but a slightly smaller hex wrench helped to un-jam the impellers. I had to work the wrench a bit, press the reset once, and make sure the motor didn't burn up after noticing a bit of smoke wafting from the bottom of the unit, but I got the disposal fixed without a repairman. Thanks, man!
T H A N K Y O U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been using the plunger for the water to go down and could afford a plumber ! You da man... keep posting more how to's
You saved me from having to call my landlord to fix the garbage disposal! Being a divorced single mom, I pulled your video up and watched what you did. Then I went into the kitchen and within 5 minutes, fixed it! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for posting this. My garbage disposal has been giving me trouble off and on for years, usually I am able to get it by jamming a screwdriver in it and trying to move the wheels around but it is hit or miss and usually still rattles. I just got followed your video and got it sounding perfectly clean in 60 seconds. Thanks!
I watch you video and fixed my garbage disposal in about 2 minutes. It had been down for a week and I was about to call a repairmen when I decided to check youtube. Thanks a million for the tips.
Great videos and you are certainly easy on the eyes ... may I add that the hex wrench you talk about is known to me as an Allen Wrench. When the garbage disposal didn't work in the rental I currently live the landlord payed a plumber $130 to fix it. 7 months later same thing happens and I find you! Talk about saving money. All I did was reset it and boom; purrrrrrrrrs like a kitten, you are indeed a saint.
Thank you so much. This was super useful. We had been having a problem with our dishwasher backing up into our sink and then back into the dishwasher and we couldn't get the disposal running. This was a lifesaver
You my best friend today, Girl wouldn't leave me alone while tryn to watch Football. Watched this Video, took 5 minutes from half time and she off my back. Preciate it
AWESOME!!! I was ready to spend hours under the sink replacing my garbage disposal or calling a plumber. This took 10 seconds and didn't cost a penny. Best of all it worked!!!!
Thanks! Just saved me about 150 that I was going to be charged. FYI, no need for that Hex wrench, if you have a 5/16 Allen it will do the job perfectly. The disposal had some sort of plastic in it that was keeping it from spinning! Again thanks for the tip!
Thanks so much, I was about to remove the disposal but you saved me a day of hassle. For some reason, mine went differently. I turned the wrench several times but I found it really hard (something must have been stuck really good). I went to the store for some beer and came back to give it one more go. It was turning like a charm and I knew I had a breakthrough. As soon as I turned it back on, it purred like a new-born kitten. Thanks so much, it was a wonderful learning experience!!!
Thank you! I had done everything - just the way you said I would ( try the switch several times, tey the reset several times, stick my hand down the sink). Thank you for making it all so easy !!
Thank you so much!!! I removed my disposal and was ready to call it quits and buy a new one. I decided to check YouTube as a last ditch effort. You saved me at least a hundred bucks. So helpful!!!
Thanks SO much for this, I've been waiting 4 DAYS for the maintenance guy to come and unclog this thing! You can imagine how gross that got. Had I known it was this easy I would never have bothered with them.
Awesome! My hubbs works overseas and I pride myself in taking care of things around the house; changing batteries in the smoke detector on our vaulted ceiling, hanging pictures accurately, replacing the bulb on our headlight or breaklight. Now I can add fixing the garbage disposal to the list!! You rock!!

just fixed mine. would have had no clue what to do without your video. thanks for the help. literally took longer to find a hex wrench (3 minutes) than it took to fix the disposal (1 min).
Hilarious! I stuck my hand down the disposal and tried to clear it. That didn't work and I thought I might need to call a plumber. I'm so glad I did a search on youtube first.
im housesitting. its 9:30pm. i just got home from the gym. dogs shit all over the floor. peed on the carpet. now a broken garbage disposal. this video was so helpful, thanks!!! :)
Me=New Homeowner+3 kids+military spouse+stay at home mom...
Thanks to your video I did my first repair all by myself it took me a trip to Home Depot to get a wooden rod and the tool for teh disposal but it only cost me 12 dollars and a plumber informed me a service call would be $70... Thank you so much for your help!!
YES, all I had to do is press the button. I am so happy. I tried so much stuff, there was no noise or anything, it just stopped one day, I could see nothing in it to make it stop. Thank you so much. YOU rock.
btw, if this guy saved you some money/time/frustration, please float him a donation--$10, $20, $25, whatever you think is fair for what he saved you. Keeps the kharma going round. :) I just sent him $20 via paypal because hey, he saved me $100!
THANK YOU!!! We had a rug tuck in the garbage disposal and called our manager who was going to come back only the next morning. So we wouldn't be able to wash anything ( and by the way my husband had cleaned the freshly caught fish without knowing the rug was there already stuck ! ). So we typed in the internet how to ... and found your video!!!! The rug is Gone now!!! Thank you for your nice job!
YOU are a Godsend - Thank you so much for your generosity of knowledge. I'm 61 yrs old on a very small budget and I panicked when mine stopped. You have no idea just how much you helped me. God bless you!
After I un-stuck my garbage disposal (using your friggin' awesome video), I showed my teenaged son how to do it so he, too, can impress his friends and family. And by the way, to me the jury is out if your fly is really open...I had to rewatch your video to see if the below comments were true. Besides, you're cute as hell to watch again ;-)
I concur - awesome advice! I knew about the reset swtich, but not about using a hex wrench to free up a jammed unit. I watched your video, and fixed my jammed disposal in seconds! You have a new fan.
Awesome advice! Thank you so much! My disposal just jammed and after watching your video I fished out a small wooden popsicle stick and everything is back to normal.
You are good at what you do - and I hope someone hires you to do a show. You have a good relationship with the camera - and I really do hope someone picks you up... You saved me such a hassle, as I threw an artichoke in the disposal, and that didn't turn out well. I found a 6MM metric wrench, didn't even fit perfectly, but turned it a bit, and freed it up, and it's all good.
Thank you. I just fixed my garbage disposal in literally :30. I saved $ but more importantly, you saved me from ruining my Sunday- waiting for a fix it guy. Thank you very much- Sincerely Lisa Edwards
wow that simple??? this worked, thanks alot for the info. you know ur stuff because i did put my hand in there to try to take out something that might of been stuck. thanks again

YES, all I had to do is press the button. I am so happy. I tried so much stuff, there was no noise or anything, it just stopped one day, I could see nothing in it to make it stop. Thank you so much. YOU rock.

Rest took about a minute to use the wrench and turning it. Saved me a plumber call.

Thanks man - you're good.
