Lovely clean polite teens enjoying pure clean music, I know 'cos I was one of them before it got corrupted by, well, let's say people of a different culture.
WOW! I was 13 in 1958 and it was a MUST to watch Six Five Special on a Saturday.
We had Dixon of Dock Green after it which was my Parents favourite but they HAD to put up with watching Six Five Special for me! It looks a bit dated now but WHAT great memories!
I noticed you have uploaded a few of the Six-Five special shows. I am looking for one particular show with my dad Des O'Connor in it. Would you be able to help me find it? i'd love to see it and I know dad would too!
@showaddy11 I was 11 in 1957 too and I remember the train and the theme song but I only wanted it to end so I could watch The Range Rider. Obviously you more advanced musically than I was.
Nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that these segments are all a part of the film spin-off of Six-Five Special, not from any of the BBC TV episodes. Still very good, though!
My dad wrote and performed at the Cavern in his skiffle band, and wrote a song called The Eighth Woner of the World, namely the Mersey Tunnel!! Rock on dad miss you....xx
Actually the dancer's were Paddy Stone and Leigh Madison as opposed to Paddy Madison and Leigh Stone. Leigh Madison was my mother, so this was great to see - thanks for posting
I had the pleasure of meeting Lonnie Donegan several times in 1965 whilst he was doing a summer season in Rhyl N Wales. Every afternoon he would sit with us in the audience watching the kids talent show. He wasn't contractually obliged to do this. He was a true gent. One of the good guys.
He got better when he lifened up his act with a bit of Comedy. I heard a story that the jokes were provided by Des O Connor who at the time toured with Lonnie.
You know, I would have loved to have had this program on the TV here in the States. Sadly, I wasn't even born when this show was filmed. Nevertheless, what a great group of entertainers on that Six-Five show! I would love to have a time machine and go back in time, this would be one show I would want to see from the studio audience.
It was afantastic time i went and saw many shows recorded. he finally passed away in your wonderful country in Lake Tahoe. Wwe used to talk to all the artists at the end of the shows and Lonnie was a real gent Regards Ron
Those girls ... Grand Coulee Dam is a great performance, I think it's live - but Jack O'Diamonds is definitely play-back except for the orchestral finish. Seems the 1950's weren't as bad in the UK -on saturday evenings
Watch this "Chas and Dave and Lonnie Donegan" The man is timeless.

Odd that this artist didn't write his own stuff, in England singing about America, as if it was some true fortune of somekind. Go west young man!

Lonnie looks a bit too serious here.
He got better when he lifened up his act with a bit of Comedy. I heard a story that the jokes were provided by Des O Connor who at the time toured with Lonnie.
