  • Mine's all finished. It's the most powerful rocket stove I've ever built for sure. I boiled a full pot of cold water in 10 minutes in 25 degree weather with 20-30 mph wind. My video will be up pretty soon. I made a few modifications to fit my pot and to accommodate my non-laser cut combustion box but pretty much followed this series to the letter. It's no quick or easy project so you'd better know what you're doing. It's not real cheap either, it set me back about $80 in metal and supplies.

  • I am working on one of these now and I can say that this build in this style is nearly impossible. The inner skirt pocket doesn't work because you just can't bend that heavy gauge steel evenly at 90 degrees without altering the flatness of the skirt. Plus, a hatchet and hammer for the cuts is a great way to introduce misery into your life. Mine will be finished soon (without using $120/sqft 310 stainless) and will look like this one but with a few minor modifications so it won't fall apart.

  • I grew up in Alaska ... while this is an awesome design, the heat would burn through that red combustion can rather quickly.

  • @corax2012 It's insulated with vermiculite. These guys do understand heat and this is a very sound design. I'm making mine for maple sugaring and it will handle the 8-10 hour sustained burn without issues.

  • Great design I love it will I build one who knows if I come across the barrel and reall want to tacklt a pretty big job I just might you did give me an idea on what I could do with the parts I have I hope I can make one close to your design.
