Will Smith's film I am Legend could learn more from this film, since it owes much to this film in terms of cinematography-Chris Harmason aka Chris Armisen
I remember watching this on TV when I was a child. I really liked it, reminds me of a film made by The National Film Board of Canada, "Twenty-Three Scidoo."
I reamember waching this movie, maybe in 65-66 on tv. And we talked about it in school. For your information, the emty steets in New York city, were filmed early in the morning. Remember there were less people there in 1959. This could not be possible today, only with computers. shame is in it. I just ordered a copy in Amezon, on DVD.
The "doomsday racial triangle" angle was used in the 1985 movie The Quiet Earth, which is...in some ways...a remake of this very underrated film. That 99.9999% of Humanity seems to have been vaporised was, of course, the common thread in both movies.
I've been wanting a copy of this film, as well, but unfortunately it doesn't exist on DVD (or even VHS, for that matter! - at least the last time I checked).
It's a shame (!!!) that it hasn't been released. I suppose the only way, as of now, is to tape it off of TCM, or watch these lovely clips on Youtube!
This is, without question, one of the most underrated films in the history of American cinema, in my opinion...
I was thinking about this movie this morning when I saw the ad for the new "I am Legend" flick with Will Smith. Was unsure of the title (must be close to 35 years ago that I saw it), but thought it was The something, the something, the Devil. Did a search for Last survivor movies" and found it and found this clip. Too cool. Plus the fact it was just put up a few weeks ago. Thanks
oh my I love this movie when Iwas young. Iloved the part were he three dirty dishes out the windows, and Of course, snodgrass!!!. Wish I could see this movie again.

Look up the book, "I am legend", I think you'll get a kick out of it.
In addition, see the movies, "last man on earth" and "Omega man".
Those movies are based on the book, "I am legend".
