One of our leaders once said “I do not wish to give offense to any of my Christian brethren who use the cross (...) But for us, the cross is the symbol of the dying Christ, while our message is a declaration of the living Christ.”
Also, we believe that the garden of Gethsemane and the resurrection played a larger part in the atonement than Christ's death on the cross, although they where all necessary.
I moved to Utah about 3 years ago and have since strived to break through the hearsy and biased opinions that seemed to only confuse me more when all I wanted was to gain respect and understanding for this new religion I had been exposed to. I just wanted to say thank you for offering your honest and respectful responses to questions about the LDS Church; it has really helped me to sift through the negativity and get down to the facts. Keep it up!
So, I have a question. For a woman, in the LDS church, is there specifically an age for her to take her endowments? Or does it only happen once she goes on a mission when she's 21, or... get married?
@cgolinquevitch - I don't have a Church Handbook of Instructions readily available, but I believe that mission, marriage, or once the individual and the Bishop feel that there is need. Again, this is a guess, I don't really know at this time.
@antlion71 You are correct. If a young woman is going on a church mission, she will receive her endowments before going. In my wife's case, she didn't go on a mission, but received her endowments while I was on mine.
I converted a little over two years ago and i didn't even realize how much negativity there was on the internet. I think its awesome what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
@SRB2288 It's important to understand that Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) only pray to God the Father. We are strong believers in the 1st of the 10 commandments.
Why did Jesus have to die for our sins to be forgiven? If God has the power to do anything, why couldn't God just forgive our sins without his son suffering?
@MoldytoasterMedia - That is an excellent question. We believe that there is opposition to all things, and Justice cannot be robbed. Mankind has broken an God's eternal law through sin and a punishment of damnation is affixed. By accepting Jesus Christ's atonement and submitting to his requirements, it is possible for mankind to be forgiven of sin and the required punishment is swallowed up in and through Jesus Christ's suffering. If you want to discuss more, shoot me a personal comment.
@NWGandee - I think that is a question for the ages. Why did Cain seek to destroy Abel, or Judas Iscariot turn Jesus Christ over to be crucified.
I believe the adversary, Satan, seeks to destroy all truth. When people leave the church, it is not uncommon for them to become vengeful and angry. If we are true Christians, anger and hatred does not become us, regardless of the religion.
I really appreciate you doing this. I'm a 15 year old member of the church, and I've recently got into lots of arguments with people about these same subject (I sent them to look at your videos :D)
Good question. I am not sure there is adequate space to answer properly, however, I will take a shot.
There are similarities between the Masons rituals and the Mormon Temple Ceremonies, just as there are similarities between the Masons and the Jews. However,Joseph Smith recieved his instruction for the ordinances of the Temple from the Lord through revelation. Joseph Smith also studied with a Rabbi, learned some hebrew, and was also a Master Mason, hence the confusion.
If I may also add to this, The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints is in no way associated with the Masons. It is just a coincidence that Joseph Smith happened to be a mason.
God himself provided the ordinances found in the temple. In the same way that God provided Moses with requirements for worship in the tabernacle in the wilderness, he has provided modern prophets with requirements for worship in modern day stationary "tabernacles" or temples.
"Your endowment is to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you after you have departed this life, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and gain your eternal exaltation in spite of earth and hell." (Brigham Young, J. D. 2:31.)
thanks brother i am a recent convert who will be going for my endowments next month this was a great help. i was baptised in jan of last year so i am very happy to be going
Brother you are awsome. im a member in south mississippi, im a convert. iv seen and gotten alot of persecution so when i see or hear it i get defensive, with all that implicates. explaining these sacred things without delving into the specifics can be difficult at times, from what i understand, as i my self havent been through the temple for my endowment. iv been a member 2 yrs(11-11-06)and just turned 20 a few days ago, and i know its a prerequisite to go on a mission, so i cant wait!
That is exciting. The mission is a great experience that I wish on everyone. It was one of the biggest changing points in both my testimony and my life. I envy you for what you will gain.
I always tell people that the best way to prepare for the temple is to read Pearl of Great Price. It is only the books of Moses and Abraham, but much of those books teach of things found in the temple as well, so it is a good prep course. Best of luck!
Can a person be saved and get Eternal life just through the atonement of Jesus Christ, or do people have to go through the Mormon temple to achieve eternal life with GOD?
I can see from your channel that you already have a set opinion on mormons, however, I will answer this question on the public forum for the sake of others who may truly want to know.
John 3:5 teaches us that in order to be saved and get eternal life we must be baptised. The scriptures plainly teach that this is the gateway for salvation and eternal life with God, and Mormons believe exactly that. Baptism is the first ordinance of the Gospel of Christ.
Thanks for the judgment. I look at all sides not just one for answers. You do not know my opinion simply from what I have watched on Youtube.
Can a person achieve eternal salvation if they never go through the LDS temple? The Bible speaks of Baptism as does the BofM. Do either book talk about temple work being necessary for eternal life in Heaven?
Can a christian reach the highest level of heaven if they do not receive the ordinances in the Mormon Temple?
when your favorites contain anti mormon videos, it suggests that they are favorite for a reason. However, I am willing to try a fresh start and answer your questions.
Yes a person can achieve eternal salvation without going through the LDS Temple. Mormons believe that eternal marriage is part of the highest level of heaven, or exaltation. So for an individual to get to where God is without the temple....yes., but to partake in eternal marriage and eternal families, the temple is necessary.
If your religion is centered on Jesus dying on the cross, why are there no crosses on your churches? I have only seen a golden figure.

how many gods do mormons believe exist?
SRB2288 1 year ago
@SRB2288 At least three that are documented in scripture. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

and now for Brigham Young's answer:
