  • Apple sucks

    Microsoft rulez -3

  • @TheAntiVirus2000 fanboy their both good

  • 0:04 ~ 0:06 - WTF did he just say ?

  • i agree with my dad, steve jobs and bill gates were friends at college but went their seperate ways cuz of a disagreement and not microsoft is trying to catch up to apple

  • sequan getting all mad typin these 200 word essays

  • I think windows turns people into assholes..lol.. not saying i solely like mac. but has anyone noticed that the windows comments are kinda mean.and all the pc people trying to defend themselves..not to be mean but microsoft does get a lot of its change from mac..being that they used to be the SAME company until they fired the mac guy..went their own way.and then when they see mac is doing good they call them back in for help..honestly.who hires the competitions employees?haha..

  • "windows turns people into assholes" thats funny my PC friends dont really say crap until my friend with a mac starts talking about his. and all the people i meet whos in love with their macs cant shut up about it. so really PC guys arent assholes they just want you to stfu and leave them alone. and if your wondering no i didnt read the rest of your post

  • @sega2200 Haha..wow thats mean. and yea i know what you mean..

  • Microsoftretailexperiencecenterbringstogether the home...

  • thoughtless microsoft haters regurgitating the same lines over and over is getting old. why don't you use some of that creative genuis you all think you have and come up with some new lines? competition and enhancement of customer experience is a good thing.....

  • APPPPPPPPPPLE !!!!!!!

  • Rip off of an apple store... did you know that MS hired away the store designer from Apple? Yeah it's true, so it's almost like they're admitting that they don't have their own ideas.

  • Don't Worry..They Don't.I think its because the people at mac are young and innovative..has anyone noticed?and all the people at microsft are half bald and past their midlife crisis lol. I think mac is better because of its design..Everything they make is so sleek and precise.but microsft will build the ugliest thing ever put a 100gb hard drive with 2gb ram.and call it a masterpiece..thats why microsft has other companies like sony and dell make their computers for them.Noone even noticed:)

  • FYI MS has no plans to build and sell it's own Microsoft brand computers at all.

All these MS stores are selling is range of 'Signature' PCs from the likes of Dell, Acer, HP. Without all the third-party crapware, adverts, trials and hard upselling which makes the usual retail PC buying and using experience just so horrible.

IMO Microsoft do make some of the best mice and keyboards though.

  • and thats another point that makes me like apple more.. they make the hardware and software..thats why it goes so good together..and its so simple. and theyre not all about marketing techniques..

  • so embarrassing for microsoft. I'd kill myself if I used a pc.

  • Somebody should go into thi store with and iPhone lol

  • That will be a good sales opportunity. The sales staff could convince them to buy something which isn't an Apple product.

Millions of people have walked into Apple stores who don't have iPhones or iPods. Thev'e got a Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony-Ericsson, Blackberry. HTC, or whatever.

I've regularly walked into the local Apple store, while using my Nokia or listening to my Sony Walkman and thought nothing of it.

  • Defend the Pocket Protector !!!! haha geeks

  • crybabies! :p

  • way to copy apple! Can't microsoft be more original??

  • since when is opening a store "copying apple" huh? If thats the case then apple copied EVERYONE who had a store before them like wal mart, best buy, etc. Get a clue! Why can't apple be more original then. Opening a store, no one does that...retard.

  • I didn't mean opening the store. I meant copying everything down to the colored t-shirts and "answer bar". Sound familiar? It should, cuz Apple did it first.

  • AGAIN YOU ARE WRONG! Apple did NOT invent "colored t-shirts" or an "answer bar". Stores have had that for years. So agin you don't know what your talking about dumb apple nerd.

  • Loads of places have 'colored t-shirts'. Apple Stores did NOT invent the idea of their staff wearing cheerful bright casual garments.

Of course it's going to have an answer-bar or guru-bar or help counter. They're NOT calling it 'Genius Bar', as this would be copying Apple.

  • UchihaSurvivor360 has got a point. just because apple does it doesnt no one else can. do you think youtube was the first site to host videos?

  • This is copying Apple? From the looks of this video, they're doing a LOT more than just showing off $3000 Mac computers rofl.

  • Pizza Hut and Domino Pizza both sell pizzas in their own stores. Why should Microsoft be any different to Apple when it comes to selling computers with Windows?

I think this is a good thing that Microsoft is doing this. Usually buying a consumer PC in a retail-store like Currys, Comet, Best Buy or whatever is IMO a terrible experience.

The after-sales service these retail-stores give is just horrible. 'Geek Squad' or 'Tech Guys'...nuff said really.

  • I dont get if your for a pc or against it..but i have to say.. microsoft are a bunch of swagger jackers lol..i would def not buy anything else from them..especially a computer with the os already loaded onto it..thats another thing..why dont they make their own computers? apple does. and apple has a great os..and they dont have crappy computers.. but about the whole pizza hut and domino thing.. what would you do if pizza hut sold dominoes..you would be like??

  • @Sequan09 FYI I'm both PC and Mac, as there are both PCs and Macs in the house here.

I was just commenting about what it's currently like to buy a PC from a big box retail store like Best Buy or Comet or whatever. It's just not a good experience IMO.

For example I was in the local Comet last week, and the sales-drone which was manning the PC department normally deals with white-goods. They hardly knew anything about PCs and knew much more about gas stoves and things.

  • Exactly thats one of the main reasons i hate microsoft.you can tell they dont care about their customers they justt wanna sell computers lol.

  • @Sequan09 Please at least Microsoft OS made computers are cheap, while macs are well expensive, You don't get what you pay for with crapple

  • @IflyinGa No need for microshit language

  • @SugarFixxed

And by that what language did I use that your crapintosh self did not understand?

And I will put it this way.

All non mac computers are better than crapple's mac.

  • ..Microsoft really isnt doing great.the more i look at it the more i notice.poeple really dont buy the computers for the software they buy it for the hardware..i see noone in a 256,000 mile radius lol. with a microsoft BRAND computer. but they have the microsoft os because it happened to come with a computer that they thought looked good.for example.sony viao or dell xps. i love how it looks. but if you had to choose between the os on the computer, i think more people would choose mac.its better

  • ... continued... I think the idea of the MS own stores, is that they will have a range of PCs from OEMs like Dell, Acer, HP, etc. Which will be sold without all the third-party crapware, and just have Windows plus Live essentials as MS intended. All sold by staff who can concentrate and know about PCs and NOT have to know about white-goods etc.

The MS stores are indeed very few and far between, but that could change in a few years. Back in 2001 Apple's own stores where quite a rare sight.

  • Hee hee!

Balding middle-aged male salespeople and a quote from the opening of the first store:

"Carol Castellano, 50, sat with two store workers for hours as they set up a laptop she bought with all the bells and whistles, including Windows 7. A store worker said the process should ideally take no more than 15 minutes.

'I understand it's the first day, but I'm a little disappointed in how long it's taking," Castellano said. "They should have been more prepared.' "

    Yup, seems about right.

  • What a joke....

  • BWAHA HA HA what a joke

  • Not matter what microsoft does, it will never be Apple. Their operating system sucks and just a matter of time until your PC is consumed by viruses or something is just wrong.

  • @motojavs

Microsoft will never be Apple because Apple sucks too much.

  • but the real "microsoft store" doesn't look like that, it looks just like the apple store with more colors, not only that but microsoft hired apple's employees and designers to make their store.. what the hell? microsoft is still living in the 80's where competence meant copy-fight and not innovation and improvement

I would never step inside one of those microsoft stores, whatever they sell you can find it in walmart!

  • OK so you wouldn't go inside a Microsoft store. Presumably you know enough about PCs and Windows to make an informed buying decision for yourself.

But for the many who are buying a PC for the first time. Or those who have loads of questions. Buying a PC at the likes of Wal*Mart, Tesco or Asda is just a bad idea.

Their sales-drones know fuck all about PCs. One might as well be asking Ronald McDonald for what is the best PC to buy, or how much RAM they should get, or what software they need.

  • Are you telling me that people who bought laptops with windows 7 and had software issues could rather go to the microsoft store too and get them fixed instead of buying best buy's disgraceful "warranty" ???

My point still standing: they JUST SELL, they DON'T HELP; answering questions is part of the sale!

Best Buy does the same thing with their "geek squad"

What ever they sell I can find it in walmart, "Microsoft Store" is nothing more than a show-off; nothing special or helpful.

  • My sister goes to buy a PC, she knows nothing about the technology in them. She might have questions like, which would be the best PC to get for gaming, video editing or basic office tasks.

Yes the staff are there to sell her a PC, but we want to make sure she's going to buying the right PC for the job.

She will get better buying advice at a place where the staff are trained for the products they sell. Unlike bloody Walmart where TBH the staff are better trained to sell baked-beans than PCs.

  • ....continued...

Myself been quite tech-savvy probably would buy a PC at Walmart and the likes. Because I know exactly what I need in a computer. And don't need any sales advice.

Any after-sales problems will be exactly the same if I bought the PC from Walmart, Best Buy or a Microsoft store. The PC will have to go off for repairs. Unlike Apple who have the facilities to fix most problems with Macs in-store.

To me the Microsoft stores are about improving the PC buying experience.

  • Like you said, unlike apple..

If I have software problems and come back with my dell or hp that I bought in microsoft store, they would send the machine to the specific manufacturer, even microsoft's phone support does that. I don't think they would fix it themselves there for FREE. So it gives me a deep feeling that they know nothing more than how to sale the machines. Just like Best Buy. The MS store is just 1 time experience (buy, never come back) and is NOT helpful at all. just a show-off

  • The customer is happy to have bought the right PC for the jobs they want to do with it. The Microsoft store has sold them a PC and has money in the till from that customer. Buying a PC at Best Buy as well is a good idea, because the staff there are usually pretty well trained on PCs.

Unlike the un-trained sales morons at Walmart who would probably sell that customer a PC which is not suited for their needs.

  • However the Microsoft stores are offering customers something which Best Buy and others do not. That is 'Signature' PCs which are free from third-party bundled trialware, crapware and advertisements.

Now I know a few people including my sister, who would think that all the crapware is supposed to be there, and don't know how to remove it. MS selling it's 'Signature' PCs is a good thing here.

Of course MS can't do in-store repairs like Apple. PCs have to be repaired by the manufacturers.

  • any ideas of your own?

stop copying Apple. Why buy a copy when you can have the original?

  • Your Pc only crashed if you decide to go to unreliable sites like porn and hacker sites. Ive never had any problems with my pc. Thats about 10 years. Why would I switch to the weaker operating system at mac?

  • weaker? o_O

ok you don't like macs, but STFU, also you granny knows that mac are more powerfull

  • talking out their ass, lol how many times do you think the system will crash, to similar to apple

  • I keep waiting for the entire store to crash and all the employees to start moving really slowly because they are infected with viruses.

  • looks like a very nice store, lets hope they expand soon to new cities/countries

  • and you wonder why they make you pay for a new OS every 3 years.... its to pay for stupid ideas like this... (no mac homo) xp ftw

  • It looks more like a primary shool library and research room.

  • I bet they use a Mac or they would be down all the time:)

  • What a joke. I am so glad I switched to osx in the Vista days. I will never support a copy cat company. MSFT should be trying to innovate new products and ideas rather than copy. I don't see this working for them. SWITCH TO OSX, you will be so glad you joined the apple family.

  • sorry but i'd rather not be suckered into a "community" by buying a mass produced industrial product

  • the msft experience center looks something akin to visiting the dentist's office. why are showing all of that boxed software? shows how behind the times microsoft is....

  • Microsoft has no shame. Blatantly coping Apple like that. So funny.

  • how are they copying?

  • these stores have almost no similarities

  • If Apple stores use Mac computers in their stores, I wonder what type of PCs the Microsoft stores will use, seeing as Microsoft doesn't have its own brand of PC.

  • Apparently they're selling a range of PCs from the likes of Dell, Acer, etc. But they're calling them 'Signature PCs' because they don't come with all the usual third-party bundled crapware.

Microsoft could however go for it's own branded PCs, by going to the likes of Acer for a PC with Microsoft branding on it.

BTW Apple stores don't use Macs for their sales infrastructure, such as tills and hand-held terminals. These use Windows.

  • That's why their 'signature' PC's may look as if they are running ok - because there's no software on them, soon as you put third party software on them they will probably just crash and burn like all PC's.

BTW Apple Store's DO use Mac's for their sales infrastructure - Just not the hand held terminals- certainly tills are.

  • Hey I've seen plenty of Macs crash and burn because of third-party software. NO computer is perfect.

  • I really hope these Microsoft stores take off. Bring Microsoft back to it's former glory.

  • It looks no different to a PC World or any other computer section in another store.

  • It may look no different to a PC World. I'm willing to bet that the calibre, quality, product-training and PC knowledge of the staff will be much higher in Microsoft's own stores, just as it is in Apple stores.

PC World sales morons are the sort of person who will try and sell you Norton Antivirus 360 when you've just bought a Mac, or the £100 HDMI lead instead of the £10 one. Either because they're driven by sales commission targets or just plain thick.

  • Too true. Too true.

  • Ohh thats funny it looks just like the apple store...thoes microsoft assholes.

  • @TheAppleTalk ...except it all runs on that Microsoft crap.

  • @TheAppleTalk it looks nothing like the applestore

  • I think they'll be as crappy as the Sony Store.

Apple already has shop's in Canada.

Instead of opening a Microsoft Store, put Microsoft learning stations in BestBuy, similar to the apple store.

  • Whats going to be funny about the Microsoft store is that that Microsoft is luring Apple store Mangers away to work a the new Microsoft store. You're going to have Apple employees working at the Microsoft store, can't Microsoft do anything right?

  • this place is not even a real shop, it is some experimental prototype, just like M$ software, a steaming dog turd. . .

  • Comment removed

  • these stores look horrible compared to an apple store

  • I find this all very interesting. When Apple created the Apple Stores, one of the HUGE reasons they did so was that finding & using Apple stuff in retail SUCKED at the "street" level. There was a void to be filled.

I watch this and think to myself; doesn't this already exist and it's called "Best Buy"(Fry's, whatever)?.

So basically MS is saying "we think our retailers suck and we're going to compete with them".

Interesting idea. I guess we'll see how it works out.

  • I think you're right actually in a way because honestly the retailers do suck for PC's right now. The people at best buy don't generally know all the pc's like the back of their hand, which would really help sales and would help consumers pick the right product. Microsoft Store employees would get to know their individual laptops that they sale in depth and would thus be more qualified to help potential PC buyers in a way that Best Buy and other retail employees cannot.

  • I know PC's like the back of my hand... wait, I never noticed this freckle here... :)

  • Frys

  • hmm Microsoft shits on apple

  • I like both but if your a mac user it doesn't matter what you think if this is a copied idea its a thing that anyone can say to so what?

What if you sold more toys by dancing around and acting goofy and I said hey I'm not going to try that idea but yet its getting you sales. Hell fucking know I'll do it just as well to have customers buy my toys.

Same thing they want to compete so they will do as the plz its a ongoing thing for centuries now get with the times.

  • hmmm i wonder where they got this idea from

  • Microsoft is stupid! First of all, why the hell do you need a grocery cart in a computer store???? Secondly, those touch screens are cool and a novelty, but they are completely impractical on a desktop (non-mobile) device.

  • This is the kind of news that us Mac users laugh our a**es off! Lol. Why is it that Microsuck always copies off of Apple First the OS X itself, then iPod, and then computers driven by Intel. These stores will come and go with a whimper.

  • ?_? Copied OS X? wat

iPod wasn't the first mp3 player, although I could see some features reproduced. It's called competition.

Also, making a store isn't exactly an innovative idea from any company, although the way Microsoft tries executing it, at least in this video, looks a little more involved that the sterile Apple environment with a bunch of machines lined up.

  • HAHAHHAHA! your a dumbass! u just made mac "or should i say fag" sound even gayer by stating that they believe they came out with the first model for just about everything! it just shows how mac users are afraid of competition!! 1 store doesn't make it the same thing as the apple stores but microsoft is still on top with what it holds and posseses! and thats victory ! HAHAHHA! fuck u! fuck macs! i believe all their good for is movies and thats about it! but other than that! fuck it!

  • i love both apple and microsoft. They bring alot of cash in for AMERICA. WOOOOOOO

  • i'm pc

  • sounds really great, i love MS. In my opinion, Apple is the biggest copycat in the world^^

  • I'm totally a pc all the way. But Bill Gates made the first home computer with the blueprints he took from a Macintosh trash can! LOL

  • Graphicaly UI, iPod, App Store, Mouse where all innovative items from Apple. When did Apple copy from Microsoft?

  • Xerox, Creative, pretty much any software company in the world, Xerox again.

Apple didn't copy from Microsoft, all right.

  • The GUI was derived from Xerox, made public by Apple in 1984. Back then Microsoft only made software for Apple. So how did Apple copy them?

  • apple..........................…

  • anyone else see at 55seconds a gui looking like mac?

  • Why do they need to start stores like Apple did.. entering a apple store is a breathtaking moment... in a Microsoft store you would just continuously watch to a pile of shit xD

  • I imagine that going to a microsoft store would be alot like going to a DMV. Boring.

  • exactly!!!!! :)

  • Actually Microsoft had a store first in San Francisco. It didn't do well... but that's besides the point. Apple wasn't first here

  • and people still say microsoft doesn't copy apple...

  • cause they dont :)

  • this wont even affect the apple stores

  • love the zune bag =]

  • they said the word "experience" 16 times in this 2 minute video.

  • you would count -.-

  • i smell apple

  • Well Siikfusiion...

I think thats the apple pie that u have hanging on ur nose

  • I suggested this to Bill and Melinda gates a few years back but there marketing it wrong. Its not going to save people money. Theres a whole world of uneducated ignorant masses out there that never used a computer or chated with people on the internet. Computers are geared mostly towards myself Bill Gates and people with aspergers. Although were getting better at making them more user friendly. Its up to us to invite the other people on earth to the planet those of us like Bill and I live.

  • It has nothing to do about saving customers money, but saving retailers money. If you can teach your sales people, like you say, to show people and sell them the product they need to get the job done, you'll make more money.

Retailing has to be about filling a need, not someone's bottom line. But as a retailer, the bottom line matters the most, so this training will help them.

  • I hear instead of a GENIUS bar

they will have an EXCUSES bar

where windows professionals will give you the best excuse why it won't work with Windows 7

  • lmao. i love the genius bar never had a problem with them. ipod went bad NO EXCUSE they gave me a new one when i left.

  • triplespeak! we baffle you with BS, you'll walk out after spending money and you have no idea on what, maybe nothing. Let's see I saw Surface, and there was surface, and then I saw them using multitouch probably on a surface! Lot's of new retail, to uh, retail, to manage while retailing technology, uh whatever but it will result in sales from retail expertise

  • Gitnio - really, Apple doesn't try to sell you stuff above what you came in for?

Admit it, you're either Job's maid or one of those people who put your iPOD on the outside of your jacket just so you can scream to the world "look at me, I just paid 300% more than a standard MP3 player because there was a cool ad on TV for it."

Retail 101 reality check - every retailer tries to get you to buy more than you need. That's why the milk is at the back of the store, not next to the check out.

  • Nonsense.

I went to the Apple store in Delaware. They asked if they could help - I said 24 inch iMac please. I paid and left. No bull - no nonsense. Best computer I have ever used. Its been almost exactly one year - no problems. Now - as for the HP my son bought at Best Buy - needed upgrading twice in the first month!

  • when are the stores coming out?

  • Not bad 30 for special edition Halo 3

  • If they open a store like that, i bet there will be someone who will walk in into that store with one of those netbooks, running Linux, connect to their "Windows secure" network in the store over Wi-Fi, and will "help customers realize that they are in the wrong place to shop for software" :)

  • Oh my God, what is this?

Those 2 spoke about Selling and selling and how to be effective atit.

Would they try to make me buy unnecessary stuff like in Best Buy, where they've tried to stuff more unwanted items in my shopping car.. Is that the "EXPERIENCE" they want to implant on me?

places where they try to convince me to buy something just disgust me!

I don't see them creating a community and helping it, they just want to make damn sales!

MS "experience" = "Welcome to the social" .. BS!

  • Go take a retail 101 course at your local community college - and then reply with the name of any retailer you shop at who tries NOT to sell you something above what you came for -- it's called cross-sell and up-sell. So if Microsoft can help retailers do this with technology and merchandising - is that a bad thing for retailers?

Do you hate RFID, self-checkout, on-line/print advertising, etc companies too?

Or did you just want to take a shot a Gates and company today?

  • Apple retail.

  • I can see building lifestyle brands/retail stores around the Zune and Xbox product lines, but Microsoft as a whole doesn't seem compelling enough for a brick and mortar retail store. Oh well.

  • Microsoft doing something to help consumer electronic stores and it looks like other retailers too. I'd say that's a positive. And it if that helps Jane/Joe consumer get the right computer the first time - that's good too.

  • okay okay

    click start

    run

    type cmd

    type reformat

    youre done

  • okay okay

    take a gun

    put it in your mouth

    pull the trigger

see the brain bits and blood splatter

you've just created useless modern art

  • Windows user, I presume?
