The problem with GfG now is that its exclusively British, it's not as much a competition anymore than a cheap way to get money, and there's an obsession with numerous phone-ins. Personally I think we should use the same format as the French, where they';ve had high ratings for it for 20 years.
i know what you mean, even tho i used to be in primary school i used to love this show, and i remember how i felt when i hurd the theme tune, still cant believe its hans zimmer that did the theme, but boy what a theme to do, but the five renewel of the show is so tacky and nothing like it used to be and john suchette cant present the show, bring back the origanal format and henry kelly. 5/5 for this vid tho brings back some happy memories
I loved this show but found it was outrageously unfair on those not from the U.K. Not only did we conveniently split our country up into four, but we expected them to speak our language! (I realise that this may not be a popular comment!)
I agree with you totally. My most vivid memory is of the round where one contestant 'loses control of the game' to the other, who then gets the benefit of extra time. I pitied the poor things who seemingly failed to take this on board and kept depressing their plunger, despite the fact it would have no effect !!
omg the memories!! I dunno when this clip was from but I remember I was very young when I watched Going For Gold (maybe 4 or 5 years old) I freaking loved it! BBC should re-do it or repeat it replace Neighbours when it moves to CH5. Whatever happened to Henry Kelly? : (
Do you have any more of these especially the first series which was the better. I used to be "ill" myself twice a week and catch the show which in the UK was broadcast in the morning and afternoon. :)
So funny, sounds like 4 people in the audience

That theme tune is epic, the best of any game show of all time in my opinion and Henry Kelly was great, underrated as a present :).

How scotish does the Scot look - I bet you he was wearing a kilt!

The Henry Kelly classic entrance. Straight on - looks like he is going to walk off - no! the quick turn - the bow - walk towards audience. Textbook.

Shame. This was the first series. It was before Daphne Hudson now known as Fowler from Eggheads won the trip to olympics.
I checked with Challenge and they're not planning to show it again soon :(
It was my favourite quiz show
