for some reason I like this song much more than Age of Empires III's overworld music, even throught this has an ancient feeling it gives me a "new world" feeling stronger of that of the next game.

Escencially reminds me to Aztec civilization more than any other in the game (except for the string instrument at 7:51)

Can anybody tell me, why my iTunes found this music, but under the Name "Ich Liebe Dich" (german for "I Love You" by "Frentz" ,album "First") when I installed the Expansion today, cause it was deleted in some way? Now the point is, that I searched for this nostalgic music on the CD, when I heard it in iTunes but I couldn't find it. As this music title is a bit strange and I don't understand the interpret. I asked myself: Where did iTunes get this song from, maybe someone can give me the answer

AOE 1 and 2 always held good memories for me and my big bro...i still have the AOE 1 disc, but it's all scratched and worn out from years of use (but the game still runs, hell yeah) and we both have copies of AOE 2, both the original and expansion. he bought his brand new, i found Age of kings and the conquerors at a value village, 10 bucks altogether. whoever would give away such a treasure, i'll never know.

Best strategy game ever, thanks for the upload. Modern ones have much to learn from jewels like Age of Empires II, graphics are not what makes a game EPIC, music like the first song of this video does (among hundreds of other things, of course).

This game was like... our family game. EVERYONE played it in our family! We always fought over who should play it next... me and my sister were the youngest so we used cheats ALL the time and my brother would throw tantrums because we weren't playing it right XD

We've own like.. 5 copies, but they ALL go missing :/ It's a running joke in our family - who lost the AoE disc?! Right, buy another one! Dirt cheap ;3

Well, I run the game also on vista perfectly with only the wellknown colour problem that can be fixed very easily. Does it pop up something on your screen when you try launching it? If you haven't tried to update your graphic, I suggest you do so.

It's the explorer.exe (taskbar, desktop icons.ect) that messes up the colors. You first must run age of empires 2 and hit ctrl alt and delete to bring up the task manager. Now you select processes tab and search for explorer.exe and end the process. You can't select aoe2 in the taskbar now because it's not running. you have to alt-tab back into age of empires 2. When you are done playing just run explorer.exe on the taskmanager.

For easier ways to do it, just google it! :)

Put your disc in the drive. Open Windows Media Player. Select the drive.

Also, this works on the collectors edition, or gold editions of Age of Empires 2 (it works because I've tried it and it worked for me). I'm not sure about the normal editions, but it probably works the same way except you don't need to do the shortcut editing thing.

Background music in AoE2:

1.) Download the Demo/Trial version of Age of Empires 2.

2.) Take the folder named "midi" (or "Midi") from the Age of Empires 2 Demo/Trial.

3.) Put that folder in the sound folder of your AoE2.

4.) Find the shortcuts for your AoE2.

5.) Right-click the item, click Properties and add to the target section "-midimusic" with the quotes, and a space.

6.) Start with that shortcut. You now have background music! :)

-If you have Conquerors expansion, do same thing.
