They tried to hold inflation levels, which yes shouldnt have been so high, but their intentions were to hold things now for in the future the economy would have been better. Instead the trade unions kicked off at the time and so yeah it was a difficult situation. But are you seriously trying to compare the harsh times of the 80s to a few protests about pay levels in 79?
