mtv ruined music. jethro tull, frampton, boc were not pretty boys! (don't kill me boc!). mtv laid music to waste then left the ashes to smolder. they don't even play MUSIC videos now! mtv=the devil!
@Grm0xlr2xD BOC had a cult following.... their ability to change styles with every song goes against what most bands do that get airplay. I saw them at Blossom music center in84 with Aldo Nova... They came out on harleys for the encore and did a Doors tribute
@Grm0xlr2xD even more annoying when people claim they know of them and you ask what their fave BOC track is, and the say 'Don't Fear The Reaper' and you say and what else, and they can't name any other song by them. That REALLY pisses me off. (and hello Mexico from England)
Well also my favorite BÖC song is Don`t fear the reaper, most than anything is that without that song i may never heard this band.
After Don`t Fear the reaper will be Veteran of the psychic wars(extraterrestrial live solo is fucking awesome), Fireworks, madnees to the method, harvest moon,The vigil, I love the night, then it came the last days of may, transmaniacion MC, The marshall plan, and i could go on and on...
And hello to england too:D i wish y could go in 2012 to london
The other creative pic version is still mono, and I think it deserves stereo, the lyrics are still in question in spots, its' harder to make out in mono too! hahaha
I am wondering whether this song inspired some things in Def Leppard's Hysteria album... namely the ostinato F#4/7 chord (also used in "Rocket") and the "We want We need" gang vocal ("I want I need" in "Animal")
Blue Oyster Cult departs from the norm on CLUB NINJA. I personally hated this album when it came out, but now it has progressed in sound and depth. The songs are longer and pave the way for IMAGINOS to make its grand entrance two years later. Great job, BOC.
@mung559 Yeah, Perfect Water is a perfect BOC song, but I also liked Beat Em Up, though it could upset people, BOC are VERY much tongue in cheek. I love that they keep performing no matter what the trends
@MetallicBill Yeah, There are probably several BOC songs that could potentially upset people. My mother being one of those people back when I was a teenager. :) I'll have to see if I can dig up Imaginos somewhere. Remember enjoying it in '89-90 but I cannot remember one song from it now!
@mung559 Imaginos I bought on CD, it was discounted even then, it's mostly a concept album from BOC and they put some work into it, but the more recent albums I got into better, I believe the time I was first hearing it was 1988 or something, seems that long ago!
@MetallicBill I've got a bunch of the Imaginos songs pulled up right here on youtube and in a playlist. It is all coming back to me now. It is actually pretty impressive stuff. I remember seeing the blue vinyl LP when it first came out. I should have bought it then I guess.
@mung559 I just have the standard CD. I want to see the band again but I always refer back to their last DVD. Good stuff to enjoy live BOC anytime, and as Buck stated, he's gotten better over time, with much playing from the 70s to now! Rock on, rock on!
I just wanna say one thing-Buck Dharma is a fuckin genius!!! But I guess you all know that already. This song is so beautiful, it makes me sad and nostalgic and glad at the same time. It was a wonderful time.
I believe this is taken off the reissue of Club Ninja. The original has more guitar at the end of this song and sounds much better. Been looking for it everywhere after someone stole mine :(
i have to say, BOC is my favorite band of all time... and i like Club Ninja alot... it is a good question why so many put it down... i didnt hate a song on there...
@MiddletownDreamz MTV has never been great and never represented the real flavor of what people were really listening to. Once in awhile they played some good stuff.
Yep. I love Beat Em Up as well, all these tracks should have videos, and promo vids were not an MTV concept so it's not a stretch that they could have made some.
Sometimes I wonder why BOC takes up so much of my time. This is a reasons why.

This song reminds me of being in art school in Surrey, BC. At Kwantlen College. Totally fun times in '86. The best weed .... ever.

@stashyjon Or "Burnin' For You." Both good songs, but if you listened to the radio, you'd think that's all they ever recorded.

Honestly i don't much care for the lyrics on this song, they're kinda trite imo, but musically this is one of BOC's finest songs of the '80s.
