I got this album recently, and despite the captivating lyrics, I just find the released version of this song very hard to listen to. It just feels so mushed together, I don't know, overactive I guess, it just doesn't really sound right to me. It's nice to hear this acoustic version.
0 dislikes for this song. Only lovers of Dylan's songs could achieve such a feet. Only those knowing exactly what it is they want to hear. Though some of you think it sounds like "pure heartache," which I am inclined to agree with; I can only hope that all of you are able to delight in this song as much as I do.
someday I will be in the ditch flies buzzin round my eyes. Someday I will be dead and will hear the sounds of zippers opening as people piss on my grave. I will piss on his grave.
This is about me and Dylan. Even me yesterday I had to ask to Dylan where his poetry was at he couldn't believe after all my study I didn't know him better than that. Living hell. Love it. Enough Enough.
@ajweberman is this all you do nowadays. You really are a pig, You remind me of Charlie Manson, he was obsessed with the beatles, he thought the songs were aimed at him and look at him. It's just sad to see you keeping this shite up.
The song on the CD recorded in the studio sounds much better. Dylan is a genius. He wrote so many songs and yet he never forgets a word of any of them.
Blood on the Tracks is one of those life defining albums - a definite must-have on my desert island. But this is the first time I've heard this version. I wonder how and why he chose to release the other version on the album? I'm not sure if this is genuinely better or just feels so because it's like dicovering it all over again. This is beautiful. Thanks for uploading.
It conveys a whole different attitude and meaning from the other version, yet it still sounds like it came from Blood on the Tracks. It is so intimate; he shares so much with his listeners. For most musicians this one song would be a lifetime achievement. For Dylan, this piece didn't even make it on the album! Behold ::: a work of art
Absolutely stunning. This man always seems to play with my emotions, such an excellent song. I have so much love for this man, and so much respect. Gosh bob, there isn't one single song where I haven't gotten teary eyed
To me, Dylan is always at his most potent when he plays unaccompanied, with only his voice and his guitar and harmonica. This performance is a prime example.
This is the New York version of "Idiot Wind" that would have been released had he not decided to rerecorded half the songs. All the Blood On The Tracks songs on "The Bootleg Series Vol 1-3" were just first and second takes.
As I read long time ago that "Blood on the track"s "was recorded during Mr Dylan"s private divorce period. More reason my spine chills with Tangled up in Blue......how sad a time for what appear"s to me to be a Man so soft he spit"s out articulate worldly word"s to get rid of the danger of the Blues...Tangled up in Bob....I am and so happy I got my front row ticket for Holland in October!!! Have fun every Bob fan !
Brilliant - any more of the NYC session tracks? Used to be a great version of 'your gonna make me lonesome when you go' and 'your a big girl now' on youtube?
another gem created by god dylan...

Great song, one of my fave's...
