Thanks for this, I just watched a Justin Bieber video to take the piss out of him and I needed to re-insert the testosterone I lost in that moment of time.
These things were used on the German V-1. How terrifying it must have been to hear this thing screaming over head and then silence just before it hit.
up to 50lbs of force on the exhaust, white glowing hot-as-hell metal, and it DIDN'T bend itself? what the hell did you make it from? forged reinforced hardened steel to 10.000degrees C? LOL
Hey Sheetmetalguru, Thats a cool Lockwood pulse jet you got running there. You may want to put some thrust augmentation ducts on the exhaust then mount it on a gokart. Cool vid thanks for uploading
Can someone please explain to me why the 'jet stream' (let's call it) is coming out of the exhaust and the exhaust looks like an intake (no flames etc coming out of it- looks like it's in taking)
@AnarchyEngineer because the combustion chamber is so close to the intake. th flame looks like it's "flickering" because it burns, then sucks in air, then burns again.
You gotta be kiddin me, I wouldn't get within 50 feet of something that glows WHITE hot, that sum bitch must be hitting 1200 degrees running temp, what about the propane feed tube melting down and WAM!!!! buy buy NECK? no thanks on that motor. As a video, big thumbs up!!! I can't dog the video, it's informative and high quality but the value of a valveless pulse jet = 0.
Seriously is there a way to control all that heat with heat sinking or something?? How a bout a liquid sodium jacket.
This reminds me of the Bill Engvall bit, if after you drive a car, you grab the exhaust and say, "Dang that's HOT!" Here's your sign! That was awesome!

I've been checking these pulse jet videos and you're the only one who really shows easily how it's done and what's it take.
I just thought, have I understood right, that the base components of the engine are the spark plug, which can be made of metal and screw on. And other than that the butane fuel. What I want to know, is that can the fuel also be delivered through metal pipe so it wouldn't melt the pipe?
@assasin424 the hot gases generated from the combustion come out from both the intake and exhaust pipes!!That happens because the combustion chamber is open at both ends, so the gases expand and go both ways. Now because the intake pipe is shorter the gases come out from it faster than the exhaust pipe itself, so the engines 'inhales' new air faster. That's why you see more action happening there
What type of fuel use and what's the fuel consumption rate?

Probably just to let it fit in a confined space.
