Wonderful thank you! One of my favourite Bach Toccatas. This is so much better than all those YouTube videos of Bach featuring just the music with no live organist! Where is the organ please?
The more I listen to Bach, the more BWV538 teaches me about Bach and interpretation. Wrong notes? Who gives a rat's ;;;? Nice performance, I think I'll plug my laptop into my preamp and listen again - where's the fugue? :)
Bravo! I love this piece! Thanks for the performance. I agree with Demonicadvent that when you play in public, you should be at the top of your game...but there's only one person who can determine whether you're there or not! Like Cvter, I'd much rather hear a performance which comes from the heart than one which is note perfect and soul-less.
Hey thanks for all of the uninteresting commentary. I learned the "great" in high school and an exciting performance is always better than a note-perfect performance with a few mistakes. Notice all the idiots that can play note perfect and never have a concert career. It's all about making it interesting and frequently "perfect performances" bore one to death.
Yes, bravo indeed! So nice to see/hear the "other" d-minor played than it's overplayed counterpart. I know this piece well, and did not find errors that were too distinguishable.
Bravo, I'm sure that it was partly Dr. Jones that helped you with memorization. I am really suprised at the sound quality, because the last time I recorded it was way to distorted.
The point of the explanation was that I play this piece well, hadn't played it in a month, had the camera so recorded the piece. If I would have been playing it for something important I would have practiced.
you tube isn't exactly the Royal Albert Hall. A few mistakes in a task that is simply for personal enjoyment and overcritical people like you "theheadplate" is not the end of the world nor worth the comments.
Hey Brad, as they say "Those that can't do..teach!(or become music critics in this case...:^)
Keep up the good work!

Fully agreeing. Rather spirit than correctness.

I think you performed nicely this very demanding piece.

I absolutely enjoyed watching this. Screw all these people who get bent over some wrong notes. Keep putting your stuff out there and have fun.

All in all, though, it's pretty good! That's a hard one (it and the Toccata in F), but definitely my favorite of the Bach toccatas!

You can use the music, honey, even the best do. Glory to God through Bach, and all that. Still and all, you have not done a disservice to the organ.

Hey buddy a few mess ups haha
cvter 4 years ago
Yep, hadn't played it in about a month and did it in from memory in one take, so thats what ya get.

I would have thought you would practice a few times before video recording and posting on the internet....

Yeah, recording yourself and broadcasting it on YouTube for the world to see isn't anything important.
