I know in this state they are aggressively trying to get carry permits legalized for regular (non-law enforcement) citizens. That would certainly make someone think twice if you knew they had the chance of carrying.

A "didnt happen to me" story: a smaller friend of mine was knocked unconscious by a drunken neanderthal hick one summer on a swimming trip to the river. The girls he was with ran to the car to get a cellphone. This friend maced the hick to get away after he came to, moments later said hick comes charging at the car with a rock and a cinder-block in each hand clearly intent on doing damage. The would be victim then drew his mini-glock and stopped the hick in his tracks, he didnt have to shoot.

A guy with roadrage followed me home on christmas day last year. he pulled into my drive after me , walks up screaming and asks me if I"got a problem?" I, at that point am very confused and say no. I have to say I really appreciate your story. A little less than a year ago I was almost car jacked with my 525i. I was in a parking garage and as I was exiting two guys jumped out of a stairwell and one jumped in front of me to get me to stop and the next one came to the door and started yanking on the handle trying to get in (luckily the doors were locked). I didnt own a gun at that point but I did know that the guy in front of me was going to move if I did.

Thanks man, this is really important for me to listen to stories like these before I start to carry. I guess nothing can prepare you for how to react in any situation. What I have heard so far as a consensus though is that if you draw your weapon on someone, make sure it is because you are going to fire it. I am glad that this was not the case for your situation.
Why not drive away? That's the first thing the prosecutor would bring up at trial. Maybe you couldn't, I don't know, but in that situation as soon as the guy stopped, just pull out and go around.
In my State of Minnesota a bat is a deadly weapon, but you must exhaust all means to avoid the confrontation, and that would have been to drive away or back up in the car you where driving. But your State must have different laws, and I for one will not knock you for your actions. Each State has their own laws set forth when it comes to carrying a weapon. The action's you took stopped a bad situaition from happening, and thats what its all about.
Excellent story and (in my novice opinion) you handled it ideally! I've been held up at gun point when I was a kid and know the weird physiological responses that go through your body (and brain) when in a life-and-death situation and I am incredibly impressed with your calm and reasonable response! I bet about 49% of people would've froze and 49% over-react/shoot. Good solid reactions reflect a good solid character.
I had to pull a gun once on a crazy lunatic, I didn't kill him even after what he did. The investigators all told me, "If I had been you I would've left his dead body on the ground." He's still in jail to this day. If you give a badguy an inch he'll take your life.

I would have been just sittin there thinkin, "I hope this guy pulls out a weapon that can cause serious bodily injury so that I can waste his redneck ass... that would just make my day, but i never get that lucky, la laaa la la..." I would have followed him around all day just waitin for him to do something else stupid enough to get shot over.
Politics and court liabilities flies out the window the moment you go to condition red or even black determined to preserve life, yours or loved ones. A bat, that moment, was going to be a threat on your life. You did just fine IMHO but the 2nd worst part is the aftermath w/c could be anything from religious, moral and financial meltdown. Good thing you shoot left then. I thought you acted just fine. I have been been scared for my life during a mugging at night. The gun was found by the cops. A toy, but all I saw was the barrel and hammer. I you had shot him and had been a cop you would have had a suspension, inquiry, then back to work. But us poor citizens?
Same thing happened to me when I was a teenager because I was following too closely to the guy and I didn't own a gun. The guy got out of his car with a tire iron and came at me. Luckly, there was noone behind me on the street and I was able to back up. There are crazy people out there. Your best defence is to leave the situation, but sometimes that's not possible.
Sumthing like this happened to my step dad... He got arrested for pulling his pistol on a guy that threw a bat at him then put him through a pool table... Man! I hate the jury cuz he was just using selfdefense!!!

@humans4targets2 massachusetts. in my state the guy with the bat can probably sue you for pulling out your gun and win. MA is very anti-gun and the jury is not your friend. i have to take that into consideration every time, think about how things will look the morning after from their point of view. a guy with a gun vs a guy with a bat when the gun guy could've just driven away. hindsight is always 20/20 but the jury will think you should've just driven away instead of increasing the situation
@humans4targets2 I love my state. Colorado, where we have lots of hunting, lots of 2nd ammendment protection. Seriously, we have the "Make My Day Law" here that allows my to legally use "Deadly force" on anybody on my property who threatens myself, family, and property. SO I can legally shoot to kill an invader. Sure Id have a longggg time in court but in the end I would get out and be alright mostly.

The guy had an extended cab so he pulled the crowbar out the back of his truck, so my Dad takes his 9mm out, gets out of the truck, cocks it, and points it at an angle straight forward, so he could just raise the gun up to the guy and be at chest level. My Dad says "Is there a problem?" The guy runs off like your video says.
cool. my friend was at school when he used to live in michagin and somone broke into his house. he came back and went in and had to take out his glock 19 in self defense. the man had an ar 15 and my friend shot him right between the eyes. he, fortunately, had a no trespassing sign so he didnt get taken to jail but they still melted the gun. he hasnt been the same guy since that day. he says that he ruined that guys family and took another man off the face of this world, which is a right reserv

Thank you for sharing your story. Unfortunately in this area of the country it almost seems like you're expected to take a beating before you actually do something reasonable like this.
I know in this state they are aggressively trying to get carry permits legalized for regular (non-law enforcement) citizens. That would certainly make someone think twice if you knew they had the chance of carrying.

A "didnt happen to me" story: a smaller friend of mine was knocked unconscious by a drunken neanderthal hick one summer on a swimming trip to the river. The girls he was with ran to the car to get a cellphone. This friend maced the hick to get away after he came to, moments later said hick comes charging at the car with a rock and a cinder-block in each hand clearly intent on doing damage. The would be victim then drew his mini-glock and stopped the hick in his tracks, he didnt have to shoot.

A guy with roadrage followed me home on christmas day last year. he pulled into my drive after me , walks up screaming and asks me if I"got a problem?" I, at that point am very confused and say no. He then punches me in the jaw and squares off. I give him a couple rabbit punches to the face, and get enough space so I could grab my .22lr . He says go ahead, you wont do it faggot. I stopped, put one in the chamber and said"u assaulted me on my property!"...Nuff said.I never saw a dude run like it.

I have to say I really appreciate your story. A little less than a year ago I was almost car jacked with my 525i. I was in a parking garage and as I was exiting two guys jumped out of a stairwell and one jumped in front of me to get me to stop and the next one came to the door and started yanking on the handle trying to get in (luckily the doors were locked). I didnt own a gun at that point but I did know that the guy in front of me was going to move if I did.

interesting video. The guy probably was an escapee from a nut house or on something. First thing to do with a sudden stop is get the license plate number. As you see the situation almost escalated to a fatal day. Next thing to do is to back up and leave and target practice another day. I don't kno if you have ever killed someone. I am a former Marine Combat Vet. It will bother you the rest of your life and especially since he was armed with just a bat. Always try to maime before you try to kill

Thanks man, this is really important for me to listen to stories like these before I start to carry. I guess nothing can prepare you for how to react in any situation. What I have heard so far as a consensus though is that if you draw your weapon on someone, make sure it is because you are going to fire it. I am glad that this was not the case for your situation.

Why not drive away? That's the first thing the prosecutor would bring up at trial. Maybe you couldn't, I don't know, but in that situation as soon as the guy stopped, just pull out and go around.

In my State of Minnesota a bat is a deadly weapon, but you must exhaust all means to avoid the confrontation, and that would have been to drive away or back up in the car you where driving. But your State must have different laws, and I for one will not knock you for your actions. Each State has their own laws set forth when it comes to carrying a weapon. The action's you took stopped a bad situaition from happening, and thats what its all about.

Excellent story and (in my novice opinion) you handled it ideally! I've been held up at gun point when I was a kid and know the weird physiological responses that go through your body (and brain) when in a life-and-death situation and I am incredibly impressed with your calm and reasonable response! I bet about 49% of people would've froze and 49% over-react/shoot. Good solid reactions reflect a good solid character.

I had to pull a gun once on a crazy lunatic, I didn't kill him even after what he did. The investigators all told me, "If I had been you I would've left his dead body on the ground." He's still in jail to this day. If you give a badguy an inch he'll take your life.

Politics and court liabilities flies out the window the moment you go to condition red or even black determined to preserve life, yours or loved ones. A bat, that moment, was going to be a threat on your life. You did just fine IMHO but the 2nd worst part is the aftermath w/c could be anything from religious, moral and financial meltdown. A toy, but all I saw was the barrel and hammer. I you had shot him and had been a cop you would have had a suspension, inquiry, then back to work. But us poor citizens?

Same thing happened to me when I was a teenager because I was following too closely to the guy and I didn't own a gun. The guy got out of his car with a tire iron and came at me. Luckly, there was noone behind me on the street and I was able to back up. There are crazy people out there. Your best defence is to leave the situation, but sometimes that's not possible.

MA is very anti-gun and the jury is not your friend. i have to take that into consideration every time, think about how things will look the morning after from their point of view. a guy with a gun vs a guy with a bat when the gun guy could've just driven away. hindsight is always 20/20 but the jury will think you should've just driven away instead of increasing the situation

@humans4targets2 I love my state. Colorado, where we have lots of hunting, lots of 2nd ammendment protection. Seriously, we have the "Make My Day Law" here that allows my to legally use "Deadly force" on anybody on my property who threatens myself, family, and property. SO I can legally shoot to kill an invader. Sure Id have a longggg time in court but in the end I would get out and be alright mostly.

And if sombody breaks into your house while your there, and you so much as lay a damn hand on them you go to jail. So if they were beating your kids to death they pretty much want you to do nothing or "run away" and "Get help, call 911". I know a few anti-gun people who have bought firearms after local break-ins. I also think that if anyone that breaks into your house poses a threat to you, so you should always be legally allowed to kill someone that breaks into your home. 911 won't save your life, but you already know that. Even if the police get there withing 2 minutes, you could be dead. That's why I support guns.

HOLY POTATOES!!! The exact same thing happened to my Dad like... 20 years ago? something like that. Well anyways the pissed off guy had a crowbar, and my Dad had his 9mm. The guy had an extended cab so he pulled the crowbar out the back of his truck, so my Dad takes his 9mm out, gets out of the truck, cocks it, and points it at an angle straight forward, so he could just raise the gun up to the guy and be at chest level. My Dad says "Is there a problem?" The guy runs off like your video says.

cool. my friend was at school when he used to live in michagin and somone broke into his house. he came back and went in and had to take out his glock 19 in self defense. the man had an ar 15 and my friend shot him right between the eyes. he, fortunately, had a no trespassing sign so he didnt get taken to jail but they still melted the gun. he hasnt been the same guy since that day. he says that he ruined that guys family and took another man off the face of this world, which is a right reserv
