I love this song and your playing I am looking for it to play with a group. Would you be able to send me the sheet music, so I can play along with you and learn the ornamentation you use?
You play this SO BEAUTIFUL ! Wish such precise and Feeling! I Miss the days of playing together with the old ones and they had such beautiful waltz songs...Trying to remember the names of them...Can you help me with names of some? YOU Play Beautiful!!!!!!!!!
My Dad was an old time fiddler and played this song at many dances. I'm glad to see its not lost. Thanks, I really enjoyed it and it brought back great memories.
Lovely tune that I haven't heard before, and beautifully played! Gotta be next on the list to learn! That's what's great about utube...just keep coming across little gems!
I Love this song. You play it with such feeling.Your classical training gave you a wonderful background.I listen to this song almost every night. It keeps me motivated and my violin under my chin!!! do you know say old man?
Thanks! I'm working on Say Old Man along with a few other tunes. I work on a part at time on about 3 or 4 tunes, so I don't get bored with the same tune. But I haven't finished say old man yet. It's a tuff one.
Very fine rendition! Did you pick it up from Clark Keissinger? A fiddler can be most accurately judged by his waltzes - not his "speed" tunes. You do a marvelous job!
Thanks for the compliment! This is actually one of my favorite waltzs. My fiddle instructor played several waltzes, and I chose this one. I loved the slides he did in it and it's not overly ornamental...I like to hear it sung too!
I think that waltz and a couple of other really fine ones are on "Clark Keissenger - Old Time Music with Fiddle and Guitar." He also does an interesting introduction on Lost Indian. The sound engineering on this LP/CD are really good. Unfortunately that cannot be said for the other two LP/CDs by this West Virginia Master Fiddler reissued by County and Smithsonian Folkways. I originally had the LP Albums from back in the 1970s or early 1980s.
Man, that was excellent ... Believe it or not, I can remember you having the vibrato down pat in like 9th grade. I was always thinking, "How in the heck does he DO THAT?" ;-) ... Really good.

Gary this is a real purdy waltz. Sorry to hear that the Say Old Man is a tuff one. Hope you get it done. If so, post it.

What a beautiful arrangement and beautifully played. Basic melody is simple enough to pick up quickly. Now to work on the 'fancy' stuff! :)
