No doubt Chetan is a big & popular writter & doesn't need cheap popularity.I read novel saw d movie,& found it largely inspired by d novel.Buying story for film-making doesn't empower u 2 deny author his legitimate credit.If its different from Chetan's novel,they why r u displaying his name n pay him at all?Good formula for promotion of film is to create controversy at d beginning (eg Ghazni),especially when it involves popular one like chetan. N everybody knows Aamir is a Pakka promoter.

well guys u need to know one thing 1st if u buy a painting and frame it wit another different frame means doesnt change the artist name... but in this movie they hav shown like the who changed the frame is the artist and they moved the real artist name to a corner.. that too they displayed the name jus coz for name sake to follow the contract.. but contract it self was made intelligently to drop chettan's name from the main stream.

well, I have read chetan's all 3 books, 5 point.. was his best,(and I appreciate him 4 tht) then the quality started dwindling..

He has worked overseas in finance and management. overall, he has a sound knowledge of "contracts". He didn't make so much fuss when a movie on " a night @call centre" was released, bcz it was a FLOP. Now 3 idiots is a block buster, so he just wants to cash on the publicity. Chetan, you have gone to IIT and IIM and you seem to be novice in contracts. Why didn't you put the clause in the contract that your name should be where you wanted it. In simple terms did you sell the rights of your book to V Chopra? If thats the case then you have signed a contract thats not in your favour. If you feel aggrieved its time you went to the courts and you got your name where it should be. Pink Floyd and Roger waters had a row over credits and was settled in courts.

Even legally, Chetan has a strong case. Hiding the credit in the rolling end credits is clearly to downplay the true origin of the story, and a deliberate attempt to steal the respect which was due to original author. A guy like AK will never support VVC after he has read the book.

it is unethical to not to acknowledge Chetan, who gave the basic inspiration for the movie. For example, it is wrong to say that, by writing Newton's law of gravitation in a different mathematical format, and say that it is different from what newton published.
