i am about to go through this operation on the third toe is it as easy as it looks on the film as i am really nervous and have already backed out once and i have had to wait five years for the opportunity again i am really scared as i have to be awake and frightened i'll jump at any noise!..

@njukcrewe Normally it takes about 15-20 minutes. You should not feel anything at all. You may want to have IV sedation. It will help. Best wishes.

@padeheer thanks but they havent done it yet as they dont think my toe is deformed enough i got to see another specialist who will decide if they'll do it but i dont see y they wont as it'll only get worse. but thank u for ur kind wishes

im about to go through the procedure to correct a hammer toe on my third toe is the procedure really as scary as it looks because ive got to be awake and im frightened of backing out again!...

@njukcrewe It is a very straight forward procedure. These new implants are very nice, but they are not perfect. Nothing is. Find a doctor that does a lot of them and you should do well. Best wishes.

Ouch, I have to have this surgery done to me next week. Do the patients seem to have any pain or anxiety while this is happening or does local anesthesia take care of everything?

@skibumdtc Usually if you have anxiety, you can have IV sedation which will help a lot. The local anesthesia will not help with anxiety. Best wishes.

This is a cadaver foot correct? One would hope you would be more gentle and precise with living tissue.

@PinkProgram Actually it is not and this is a very delicate procedure. You should see a knee or hip replacement if you want to see rough.

@padeheer so the discoloration is from the antiseptic? The lack of blood is from a tourniquet higher up? I guess it is possible... it just seems so clumsy that I thought it was a training cadaver in medical school to demonstrate the procedure.

@PinkProgram Yes and yes. It has been used a for a training video for this procedure by the company that manufactures the implant. Possibly it is the video recording. I am a national speaker and author and use this video in teaching others how to do this procedure. Remember, I am working in a space about 2-3 cm total. What is clumsy, try watching a resident or unskilled surgeon do it. It would also take much longer to do.
