  • Are you guys here to quibble over the morality of using shark's fin or to watch the versatility of both the chefs? Good grief....

  • wait what happen to marichi now chen is the iron chef please fix the epicso

  • Baka laka daka !!!!

  • @dantesramsy - Shark fin isn't 'cheap' anywhere.

If you were served 'cheap' sharkfin, then you didn't realize you were served, maybe some shark fin scraps with cartilage substitute.

Like a sub sandwich that advertises it contains 'lobster or crab' or seafood which is pollock or sole, the scraps of the seafood world.

  • sharks fin doesnt taste so delicious.. sharks fin has a firm texture and looks like noodle like gelatin..cant remember the actual taste tho cuz i ate shark fin with shrimp soup and the shrimp taste powerful than the shark fin oh well..didnt know it was $3600 per kilo in other places, its kinda cheap in our place i guess :s

  • wooooo kinichi's got wok skills.... looks sooo effing goooood!!! i initially thought he was flipping some sort of oblem but wow.. this is far more a delicacy... ahem... point!!!!

  • I'm Chinese myself and I think Shark's fin is really overrated for the price

  • Sharks cannot get cancer. Reseachers injected sharks with cancer cells and the cells did not grow.GONE! Goodnight Now!

  • I dont think that what has been done in the past or who was responsible is what should be the focus. I think that thpoint is that now we know better, and if we dont want sharks, whales, lobsters, sturgeons, chilean sea bass, ect, to find the fate of the passenger pigion, the bison, the dodo, and the moa, then everyone, of every nation must agree to harvest them responsibly, or not at all, to preserve the resource for the future.

  • do you know what the passenger pigeon, american buffablo is?You know europeans were responsible for making whales into an endangered species in the first place and now the japanese are being blamed? There is a lot of blame to go around, dont try to single any one out.Not everyone has to feel the same guilt that Europeans feel, because we have been doing this for generations and nothing happened. While Europeans were able to exhaust the stocks in just a few generations.

  • i'm sure the shark wouldn't mind eating you. so vice versa. you shouldn't take it that seriously. plus, who are you to judge that pigs are ok to eat but the sharks are not? i'm sure the world would be just fine without sharks.

  • And please understand sourdoughress, most of these sharks are use also for meat/eggs such as that, these shark fins in this show isn't illegally gathered.

  • umm.... how does shark fin and crab brain make python soup?

  • Pei-tan soup, not python lmao

  • yeah it is wrong

but china put down a law that people are not allow to cut fins off sharks anymore. but its a great medicine in the chinese history.

  • so its not barbaric just to breed cows, chickens and pigs just for making sausages out of them? I think they should find a way to farm these sharks one day so we dont have to worry about exhausting the supplies while able to enjoy this treat.

  • @saint666 good point there i agree with what you saying there must be a way yo ucan farm them and you would think that someone would of shown them how to kill a shark to dont you agree it's how it's done that's the most shocking thing i think and on the scale it's done cutting fin's off while there alive thay shoudl leav them alone for now untill thay can find a good way to farm them and not abuse the eco system and to atlest kill the shark's befor taking a knife to it and to use all the body

  • It looks and sounds very good. I would love to try shark fin, but I suppose it's a wee bit expensive to try out especially since I don't even know if I'd like it. XD

  • it taste like chewy fish bones. not worth it. plus, it's overprice anyways, n filled w/ mercury nowadays.

  • I agree it's an overrated experience... but then again I don't exactly have a refined palate, maybe I just can't appreciate it. It's mostly about the gelatinous texture.

  • you know in chinese cooking, shark fin is also type of medicine that is great for your body. it helps your body become stronger and more healthier. But its very difficult to cook and takes several days just to prepare it.

  • Looking good for Chen, he has some creative dishes going.

  • Shanton = 上汤

    Literally = up soup.

It's a very heavy broth, very tasty.

  • Oh gosh...they all look soooo good!

  • Otah: You are wong again!

  • The iconic flip, yes!

  • Epic win
