  • fap fap fap the smiths and buckly combined fap fap fap

  • sounds ok at best but dont work for me this one as a big smiths fan in the day, but i do however like jeff buckleys stuff, i personally think smiths stuff cant really be covered by any one as is unique to the time etc, gotta say jeff buckley did do some superb stuff though, his cover of cohens hallelujah is prob better than original id say, not sure how muh original stuff he did????

  • @acadx - there's a phenomenal dinosaur jr cover of this song.

  • Absolutely fantastic! Jeff is the greatest!!!

  • Why do the best things, never last long?

  • @CookieDee11 Because if they did, we wouldn't crave them. They'd be like anything else.

  • Yeah that's it the great Jeff Buckley, no,no the greatest=Jeff Buckley!

  • Sólo un gigante como Jeff puede hacer de una gran canción, otra distinta y mejor :D

Qué gran mixtura: Jeff + The Smiths!

  • @TheSunGlassesThing Never, this guy cant even hit the notes and hes quiet. Jonny Marr compared to this guy that ive never heard of? Get out of here..

  • @Louieowner

I guess by saying that Jeff can't hit the notes right, you obviously haven't heard Lover You Should've Come Over, Dream Brother, Corpus Christi Carol, and every other one of Jeff's songs. He can hit every note, high or low.

Anyway, I urge you to listen to them if you haven't.

  • @ImAWhaleArooooo Perfectly put Jeff Buckley maybe of any singer ever could hit every note high or low he sought after.

  • Best of 90's are:

    1st. Jeff Buckley.

    2nd. Thom Yorke.

    3rd.Kurt Cobain

    4th. Pj Harvey

    5th.Eddie Vedder

  • @anulafakes Totally Agreed !!

except instead of kurt i'll put layne staley

  • @miguelangelcoria I couldn't agree withh you more. Layne Staley!

  • @anulafakes I would say the best of all time. But in this order:

    1st Jeff Buckley

    2nd Thom Yorke

    3rd Eddie Vedder

  • Wow there's a lot of reverb on his vocals, it actually makes his amazing voice even more so not that he even needed it. Someone said I ought to be more opened to other's music then just Jeff Buckley. I told them why?

  • a very heartfelt interpretation of an absolutely perfect song.

  • i like jeff buckley, but he has butchered this song.

  • @Mrelectrosnoopy I agree.

  • @Mrelectrosnoopy Rubbish of course. It's a great cover.

  • @dirkbogarde44 i beg to differ, i wouldnt describe it as great

  • Comment removed

  • @tdog52436 it's a live recording

  • @indiekid2006 Really? Didn't know that. Sorry.

  • @tdog52436 It's not echo chamber vocals ... it's not like it's deliberate. He wasn't putting on that effect - can't you tell it's simply the venue he's in? He's not fighting through a bunch of needless atmosphere he's fighting through the cheap recording equipment used by whoever recorded this.

  • @Incubus941 Yeah, somebody told me that this was a live recording. Sorry mate. Removing comment.

  • these people that dislike this just can't accept someone doing a smiths song, this is great, there are some bands/songs i think should not be redone but if you are as great as jeff was i have no problems with it

  • @acadx -- no, it was just a bad attempt

  • @acadx Those are hipsters.

  • good cover of a great song

  • this is terrible

  • @osammaapplehead u need to clear the shit out of your ears

  • What a pleasure, Smiths and Jeff.

    xx to Jeff

  • He has the perfect vocal and guitar mastery to pull this off... Just Brilliant!

  • I love the smiths what the hey if the covers dont work .

  • Magnifico!

  • this sounds awful, musically speaking: off tempo, and the key he is singing is terrible doesnt match the guitars at all...and im not an anti-jeff buckley fan please dont take me wrong, bet he was high as fuck

  • Thanks for taking off the clapping !!!

  • To the 8 people that disliked this go to hell!

  • As always, the original remains the best. However this is one beautiful cover; I love listening to it. I'm ashamed to say I never really listened to Jeff Buckley beforehand, but I will begin doing so now!

So shocked and sorry for your sudden death (I know it was many years ago but it doesn't make the impact any less), but that amazing voice will always be remembered (and heard)! RIP xxx

  • @TheRickynow funny i did a youtube search and it said therickynow no results and then i searched jeff buckley and it said 6,320 results. doh!

  • meat is murder? jeff buckley is murder more like, absolute pish

  • @TheNadster2 you're an idiot

  • @dangolie1 i kno rite!

  • who is the boy with the thorn in his side? we will never know

  • Johhny Marr! Suede boots y' know! Super cool! al la 85'. JB missed.

  • Amazing

  • Best Smiths cover i've ever heard.

It's a shame this magnificent musician is gone

  • Jeff Buckley + Telecaster + Smiths cover.

  • when they made a movie about Jeff buckley (they must do it) James Franco will be probably the chosed actor to play, hes so similar to Jeff... i looked to one photo of James Franco about 8 yeras ago and i thought it was Jeff...

but the voice will be probably made by some computer, cause jeff´s voice is unique.

  • Cool cover, and I can't deny there's always been a touch of magic to Buckley's work... but this highlights for me just the sheer perfection The Smiths attained with their music; nobody can cover their songs. To me it just sounds very jarring, Morrissey's phrasing and the inflections of his voice along with the tasteful lines of Rourke, tight drums and Marr's signature melodies are all massively missed here and in any other cover of Smiths material (even Moz's own solo renditions are lacking).

  • morriseys voice is the dogshit on the pavement i go out of my way to avoid.

    jeff buckley is awesome

  • @bluesman332 your loss, fuckwit.

  • @bobbydylanio :'( ~

  • @bluesman332 Morrissey is a brilliant crooner--I love the fact that Jeff Buckley covered him.

  • eh can't win 'em all

  • @bigalsafag haha pathetic

  • WHY AM I JUST NOW FINDING THIS WONDERFUL COVER BY THIS WONDERFUL MAN? WHY!?!

    LOVE <3

  • WE ALL MISS YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • Check out 'Convalescence Kid: Nothing left to lose' This guy is pretty awesome!!!

  • awful cover

  • i ADORE the smiths version of this song but i must say this version seem a lot more real and emotional while the smiths made it seem too poppy and dare i say synthetic. just my opinion.

  • @condiersea The last fourty seconds or so of The Smiths original is more emotional than anything Buckley's output. Buckleys' songs, for me, are overly emotional and experimental on average. It seems like he was about to get worse, not better, after his debut album. Grace is near enough a classic though...

Please don't try and say Buckley has ever improved on a Marr riff... Grace is the only Buckley riff Marr wish he wrote. This isn't a half bad version, I'll give you that.

  • @owenhunt

So you say at first the the smith's version is more emotional, then you say Buckley's far too voerly emotional?

I mean it's music man, how can you be over emotional. Music is such an innate human expression, I don't see how being overly emotional can be applied to it. Unless of course it is mostly pretentious and slathered on like thick syrup to just make lots of money. But not Buckley, he was completely genuine. Maybe he was just that emotional. Human beings have great capacities.

  • @Themexicanguanorat I thought my comment was a bit awry when posting it, sorry if I seemed condescending.

What I meant to say is that Buckley began to make a mess of some of his songs... Dream Brother at the end of his debut album is not a good listen for me, while the rest of the album is a more peaceful tide of rock and soul.

Anyway, I believe most people confuse Buckley as being fantastically emotional because of his powerful octave range. Although I'd never associate him with Buckley..

  • @Themexicanguanorat normally, I would say Freddie mercury is another who received too much kudos for his god-given vox. Morrissey had a quite average voice and managed to sing appositely, and sometimes oppositely to Johnny Marr's jangly, often poppy riffs.

Buckley is one of the best artists of modern times for me, but his catalogue is far weaker than The Smiths. It is no shame to lose out to Marr's compositions, which grow on you with each listen, whereas Buckley's wear down in appeal.

  • @owenhunt yeah i mean its all opinion so there is no right or wrong. you enjoy what you want and ill do the same, i rather listen to the smiths over Buckley any day.

  • Where can i get the mp3 of this??

  • Hey, I wondered where the picture of this video is to be gained?

  • Great version, I am big fan of them, Morrissey is fucking great and Jeff was wonderfull too. Miss him, so much.

Now, we have horrible music like Bieber, and company.

  • wow

  • wow.....really good.

  • @khasperg He came out and said he likes The Courteeners. I think he does it a lot and gets them to support him to help promote them.

  • @khasperg

    And Damien Dempsey.

    And the New York Dolls.

    So that's 3 anyway.

    That's a start. ; )

  • @khasperg He Likes New York Dolls. I saw it on the documentary New York Doll. One of the members became mormon. It's actually pretty interesting, the documentary. You should look it up. And yeah Morrissey doesn't say a lot of positive things about other musicians you're right! "the music that they constantly play, it says nothing to me about my life"

  • @khasperg Moz loves him. There's an article out today for Friday the 13th where Morrissey gives his top 13 albums - Jeff is #12

  • @BrokenEver ohh so good may I see the article if you have it ? anyway it's cool to read that ! thx :)

  • @Stairwaytoheaven06 Youtube is being mean and not letting me link.... go to google and type something like Morrissey top 13 albums - should get quite a few results :)

  • @BrokenEver thx a lot ! I found the link ^^

  • @BrokenEver Awesome! I'm psyched to finally have this question answered, I just read the article. Moz likes music with edge, above all else, stuff that's uncomfortable and unruly. That's always how I defined Buckley's passion and his music.

  • @khasperg He does mention bands and musicians he likes...but he genrally doesn't partake in many interviews...just becuase he doesn't constatntly talk about them doesn't mean he has little respect for anyone. But i do think it's awesome that he regards Grace as one of his favourite albums.

  • @khasperg "grace" is one of morrissey's favorite albums.

  • @khasperg

Morrisey named Grace as one of his 13 fav albums or something

  • @AidanMusik yes...and grace the song the first few bars are very very smithsesque...jeff was a massive morrissey/smiths fan...very beautiful...

  • @khasperg never really comment on here but felt obliged after reading your comment and thought id link this.

i listened to grace tonight only a couple of days after listening to the queen is dead. ive been listening to the smiths a lot lately and just reading up about morrissey in general and it was reading whats on the link that made me give grace a well overdue re-listen. even morrissey has time for buckley!

  • @khasperg He loves The Courteeners.

  • @khasperg Morrissey recently had "Grace" in his Top 10 albums of all-time.

  • @khasperg Hey, just let to let you know Morrissey recently did a list of his 13th favorites albums and he listed Grace right behind Jobriath. Its very comforting to know that Morrissey appreciates Jeff, since Jeff dearly loved Morrissey's music.

  • @cmrock456 d'you know the other 12 albums? it'd be great to know the likes of morrissey. cheers.

  • @theyellowsubmarine3

the new york dolls 1st album, grace, jobriath, the smoking popes-born to quit, ramones 1st album, patti smith-horses,damien dempsey-seize the day, the stooges-raw power, sparks-kimono my dragon, velvet undergound-their 1st 2albums, nico-chelsea girl, and Roxy Music-for your pleasure

  • @theyellowsubmarine3 check my cmment above, its straight from the website

  • @khasperg morrissey does like jeff buckley, jeff is on morrissey favourite albums of all time.

  • @khasperg Yeah I love Morrissey too...but he's a dick

  • @khasperg I dont love Jeff Buckley. Is that so hard to imagine? How can they hear me say those words

    Still they don't believe me?

  • @khasperg on a site dedicated to morrissey called "true to you" I read that buckley's grace is among morrissey's top 10 albums

  • @khasperg He said in an interview I remember seeing that Grace was one of his favourite albums.

  • @lizardking392 in another interview he says something about an album to take to the grave with you: Grace

  • @khasperg Prompted by @lizardking392 's post, Morrissey did indeed name Grace in his top 13 albums. Youtube doesn't let me post the link but google "morrissey picks his favourite albums" and you 'll find it :)

  • @khasperg he does like buckey. grace is one of his favorite records

  • Comment removed

  • @khasperg just last year morrissey named buckleys album 'grace' in one of his 13 favorite albums ever.

    kind of answers you're question :) x

  • @khasperg Acutally he once said that he was a huge fan of buckley and that he really wanted to do a cover of him. When Buckley was confronted with that, he didn't believe it and denied that it could ever be truth.

  • @khasperg ok... how can you say he has little respect for other artists? not saying who he likes is not disrespectful. and for your information Grace is one of Morrisseys favourite albums, he made a list of his 13 favourite albums (google it) and Grace is there.
