Ironically, Thomas More was the Catholic equivalent of Martin Luther, because they were both very passionate about their different religious views, while Erasmus looks like more Philip Melanchton, because they were both more moderate and open to dialogue with Protestants and Catholics.
I think that what is really ironic about them is the fact that Luther was the rebel and he was more likely to die for his beliefs but in the end it´s Sir Thomas who end up dying for his.
The reformation would have never happened if the clergy had been so fucking greedy, arrogant, selfish and down right pompous, and more catholics and clergy like thomas moore and st john fisher...I cant blame the people of that time for hating them. I am a papist, and Indulgences that were being sold off for money is down right evil..they should be given through prayer, fasting, daily mass and devotions to Our Lord, not through money off the poor. Shame on the clergy in those days!!! SHAME!!!
Well, I don't care much for Martin Luthor, an outspoken anti-semite and anti-femmenist whose own works were used to justify the holocaust, but I can't condone Thomas Mores burning of Protestants either. *Sighs* No wonder I'm not into organized religion.
Actually, Thomas More was not responsible for burning Protestants. That is a myth. He did arrest heretics, but then they went before the papal court and he had nothing to do with their sentencing. Luther's anti-Jewish sentiments, however, were irresponsible, but not surprising considering that most of society in the 1500's were anti-semitic.
Really? I read on Wikapedia that "As Lord Chancellor, More had six Lutherans burned at the stake and imprisoned as many as forty others". Did that not really happen?. *Scratches head*
Wow! Really? That's interesting!. Different sources on history say lots of different things, so it gets confusing. I'm sure you're more clear on it then I am though!. :)
Amazing as usual!!! I love it! Even though Martin Luther and Thomas More were rivals, they were strangly alike...they both believed deeply in their individual religions! Please can you make more TomKat vids...lol!I need a fix!
I think if Martin and Thomas had not stood on opposite sides of the Reformation, they might have learned a lot from one another. It amuses me to think that there's very little doubt that both of them wound up in heaven -- and no doubt were surprised to see the other one there! =D
Girl I loved it, you do have talent for this. Making videos.
Any more katherine thomas videos in the future besides illusions and vision? would love to see those.
anyway great video loved this, unbeliavable to think that these two men who I admire and respect in many ways had so much in common yet different religions. Religion is always the bad things that separates both men and women, that is why I am against religion and dual perceptions.
I have to be inspired to do a video, but I'm sure there will be more forthcoming. ;)
Luther and More were tremendous in many respects, but the sad thing is that they differed on minute arguments rather than realizing that they both served the same God. It's just that one thought his God should be more approachable than the other.
The matter of religion often make people blind. We see it on many examples in history: crusades, reformation and counter-reformation, 30-years war etcetera. And they dont really realize that they fight for the same thing.
I don't know that it is religion that makes them blind so much as Evil. It would rather they were divided than unified, since they would accomplish so much more if they were not tearing into one another. It's tremendously sad that to this day, there is still so much division among believers.
I agree with you, too. I think this video is amazing. You put two different movies together very well. I admire both of these historical persons but I still think that religious opinions may divide people. There are many examples in history. And often they are good people which fight against themselves.
Opinion often divides people. I can sit down to lunch with my friends, and we can all share the same core values, but certain conversations might still end in an argument! People feel very passionately about their opinions in general, so throw any form of faith into the mix and boom -- gunpowder! =)
I agree with you. It is not only the religion what divides the people, it may be any opinion. And as not all of people can control themselves,it comes to many conflicts.

Wikapedia is not a good source of accurate information. It relies on the submissions of the general public to add content to its archives. =P
