This is so inspirational, after watching this video I immediately washed my hair. I made a vow to love my curls and to never fry them again. Since I'm new to being natural I am finding some difficulty with choosing the right products. What do you recommend?
That is amazing! Thank you so much for your comment :-) What has been working for me lately is using a moisturizing cream (after washes) and then applying a butter or oil. I'm using SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie as my moisturizer, Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Butter (butter), or Jojoba oil. I pretty much just use what I have handy, but this combo has been working pretty well.
I'll say that having natural hair means lots of experimenting, so have fun with it!
Hope this helps! And please feel free to check out my blog (kiffecoco[dot]com) for more hair related stuff. I've been slacking horribly with making videos :-(((
I LOVE YOUR HAIR! I love natural hair!!! Doing the big chop can be inspirational and freeing! You dont feel like you need to conform to another persons view(s) of beauty! By changing YOUR own perception on your hair, and gaining spiritual insight, I could tell later on in the video that you were comfortable with your own skin ( and hair )
I must add, you are a beautiful girl, both inside and out! once again...I LOVE YOUR HAIR!! Keep up the good work!
i so understand about that roommate comment!!! i go to a white unversity in virginia and it was the same way. i get so many looks and stares when i wash my hair. The first week in school my suitemate asked "what is that on your head?....and it was just a black scarf. I knew then they have never seen black natural hair and they really have not!!! My roommate told me i was going to burn the dorm down by flat ironing my hair!!!( i understand everything you said)
Wow. i am part Dominican and have always straightened my hair (it looks just like yours when curly). i want to make the leap but feel like there is so much explaining and unwanted attention i would have to do as well as maintenance that i don't know anything about. any advice on any of these subjects? any follow up stories on the transformation?
You, your hair & your journey is beautiful. I vlog about my natural hair as well and I think we resemble each other...maybe it's the brows :-) Good luck on your journey, whatever that may be!
Back at ya, sis! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching :-) I've been following your channel for a longggg time, and I want to thank you for being so inspirational. Keep doing your thing, girl!! You are FABULOUS!
I actually self-produced this beat on GarageBand a veryyyyy long time ago (I think even before it was called GarageBand for Mac lol). I call it "Breathe Underwater."
thank you so much :-) it's actually still a work in progress, so i don't feel comfortable YET in sending it out lol. but i appreciate your support and interest. thanks so much for your comment and for watching.
great video.... your spirit reminds me of alicia keys... and i can completely understand how you felt when you wanted the sleek blown out hair look ... for a long time i felt the same way with my hair ... thank you for sharing your story
Wonderful video! I loved your story, it is similar to mine. It took a while but it feels good to get to a point where we start to see and appreciate the true beauty that we possess. BTW I LOVE your hair! Looks so healthy!
Loved this. I also went through that same phase and recently abandoned my flat iron in order to embrace my curly biracial hair, and to remember how to treat it properly. Loving your channel - you're a stunner (especially with curly hair).
Aww, thank you so much :-) I am so glad you liked the video. It's such a great feeling when you realize "wow, my hair is so fly just the way it is!" :-) Go girl! And happy growing!
