  • If I could travel through time I would go to this concert

  • my favorite artist she is an angel

  • I love her stuff. Her voice is both incredibly strong yet fragile. Quite magical.

  • Her voice seems like one that would be to sing some kind of folk song not too well-known. You either love it or hate it. In this case, I find myself loving it ^_^

  • @mysterious493 nice mugshot! very inventive...

  • Cette femme est juste géniale...

  • <3 <3 <3

  • Oh my God.

How magical & hopeful is the fact that there are still people who have the strength inside to believe in the eternal love...(?)

I'm so impatient 2 join them some day...

  • Even the crowd follows the tempo

  • This is one of the best Björk's live performance that I've seen!

  • she says "You Rock!" to the harpist

  • People, better going to see her shows, it's pure eargasm

  • 4:09 it definitely looks like she says "fuck" to the harpist after the song. In a good way, I guess.

  • @dmucci100 It's funny how emotions are always the same, from when you start singing, being a kid, to when you find yourself singing in front of an huge audience at the Royal Opera House.

  • I was gonna go buy the studio version of this but..it sounds so much more....natural...emotional live ^^

  • I love how the harpist goes crazy near the middle It reminded me of someone going AROINYVAOEWNRYWEOIYRNOEWIYNROEWIROQWE With a keyboard

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Definitely one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Gave me goosebumps so many times... Björk is one of a kind.

  • The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound with great HiFi speakers, amplifier and source, is absolutly amazing with this track.

A lot of sound, especially bass when harpist player doing hardy handshake with his instrument !!

    Thanks for posting !

  • Once you realize the lyrics, the song has so much emotion! It almost makes me cry, as do many of Bjorks songs. She is absolutely amazing. I dont think I have seen another artist who can capture emotion like this other than Dolly.

  • Not many singers could duet with a harp and keep you spellbound like Bjork does here. I was never aware of this tune until now!

  • The Harp... I can't freakin' believe it

  • Comment removed

  • how cute is she when she smiles after the song !!

  • @7me Yup, that always makes me smile. And I also LOVE the grimace she sends to the harphist after the song - like if she wanted to shout out loud "Yeah, we rock!"

  • i dont have problems with people sayin they dont like bjork thats a matter of taste but people who says bjork has no talent and cant sing or something in this direction...should just die >.<

  • I dislike the 2 people who disliked this very much.

  • Who else in the "pop" world could write something as beautiful as this? Scott Walker 40 years ago? Maybe.

  • I have the DVD of this show and there are no words to describe how good it is, from beginning to end = PERFECT. Luv u Bjork, thanks for you sublime work :)

  • @sylvin0 what is the name, if you please, of the dvd?

  • @zendojo3

Bjork: Vespertine - Live at Royal Opera House [DVD] [2002]

  • Bright.

  • I fell in love with this song immediately. The harp player, Zeena Parkins is amazing! Bjork rocks!

  • omg i'm bawling. beautiful!

  • Significa carinho, mais ou menos isso. ^^

  • absolutely wonderful! I'm crying

  • of course they love it, but I wish people would wait until they know FOR SURE that the song is over

  • I HATE HATE HATE HATE that every single live recording of this is interrupted by applause. (you can picture me swearing in your head instead of in this comment)

  • but this is natural - the audience loves this song so people can't hold back applauding...

  • zeena!

  • i love this song

  • Woah, I'm going to have to check out some of Zeena Parkins records now. I had never heard her stuff before. For a great female koto player, check out Miya Masaoka. She plays a harp made of lasers!

  • harp made of lasers? sounds fascinating!

  • This is more, more powerful than anyother rock song! The way Zeena Barkins plays the harp...

At 3:34 lacks a part of performance...

At 4:06, she has an extraordinary expression, so tender, really nordic like a husky or malamute <3

  • Do you not find this song rather violent?

  • No, I don't. This is powerful, not violent. Intelligently powerful, unlike many rock songs.

  • Powerful is as powerful does, and Terlaghan to that. What about Whitesnake?

  • Yes, i agree, zena's harp is mesmerizing. It isn't often that a singer and artist of the calibre of Bjork is moved in her very own concert. Her voice is ethereal and magnetic...she truly IS on the stage....very alive and mesmerized herself....

  • Great Harp, Zeena Parkins is just great.

  • I found my definition of love listening to this song. my love was this song.

  • This song is about domestic abuse.

  • hahhaaa, oh yeah, and Imagine is about a dream of a fascist state, are you sick or what?

  • Uh no, she has stated in interviews the song is about an unhealthy relationship where the man abuses the woman. A 'generous palmstroke' is a slap to the face.

  • In what interview she has said it?

  • not necessarily domestic abuse i would agree more with love this is not a dark "emo" music wow i wanna poke someone in the eyes thats domestic abuse

  • It could be about God (even though she isn't big on religion). It's about giving yourself over to someone totally and trusting them. Hell, it could be about dominance and submission. I just don't think domestic abuse is the only meaning one could arrive at.

  • Oh thank you for informing me, I'm such an idiot

there was so many innuendos I thought it was about masturbation

    ooops

  • this song has many different dimensions or layers

  • Is this song on an album???

  • The "Family Tree", I guess.

  • It is on Family Tree 2

  • its a bonus track of vespertine

  • I turn my self in, I gave my self out...

I volunteer You own me I'm yours!

  • i love BJORK!!!!

  • I like this song; so "in love" song!

I'am strong in his hands, I'am beyond me...

On my own i'am human and I do faults...

I do confess, i feel you trickeling...

    Down my shoulders from above...

I turn my self in, I gave my self out...

I volunteer!! You own me I'm yours!

You have to trust, I'm eternally yours!

All that I gave them, I gave to you!

    LOVE BJORK SO MUCH!!!!

  • The best concert I have ever attended in my life. As close to the meaning of musical artistic perfection as one could hop to experience. She had the audience spell bound.

  • YOU WENT???

    Lucky...

  • bjork has faults????

  • i love the look on her face at 4:11 ^^

  • i get chills when the harp goes crazy around 2:35-2:40

  • Stop at 4:06 *.* She resembles a very beutiful Alaskan Malamute: pale skin, black hair, little nose and pair of particular eyes...

  • lovely!

  • I love her face at the end when she knows that she nailed it. (:

  • すごく良い曲

  • what is this from? Is it able to be purchased?

  • yes, lokk at the title: live at royal opera house :).

you can order the dvd at several online stores

  • is so beautiful.....an emotional landscape.

  • absolutely amazing!!!!

  • Zeena is coming to Mèxico!!!! not only Mèxico but Mèxico City. Damn B. She had to come here as well...

  • Thank YOU, Björk. Blessings from México.

  • music doesn't get any purer than this kids. learn.

  • I love the way she looked at the harpist and at the beginning. they are both great!

  • I love that expression she gives Zeena at the end. She knew she rocked it out.

  • that climax and break is really powerful. i agree with an earlier comment though, i wish somehow the audience could have held off their applause; i think the effect would have been incredible. this is definitely one of my favorite bjork songs.

  • Yes, but maybe they can't held back for her voice and the ability of Zeena in that moment. I don't blame the public, although if they remained silent...

  • I think it's almost impossible to hold it...

  • Im like: this is the greates song ever....then I hear unison and thats the greatest ever, then hyperballad.....aaaarrrggggghhhhh they are all the greates. I cant belive it. She's amazing!

  • word!

  • AMAZING performance, i never get tired of this song, EVER!!

  • (L)

  • At the end Bjork is like " fuck, I've got me an awesome harpist."

I swear to god that this is the most beautiful unintentionally religious song ever.

  • @homegirrl Bjork would already have known that! Why do you think she employed her?

  • Björk's the best! And Zeena Parkins! I love how she played all those glissandi without flinching from the pain. I know how it is. I've played harp for a long long while now but sometimes it still can hurt slightly on your fingertips. Anyway, loved everything about it! Generous Palmstroke rocks! Thanks!

~Chris Choi AKA Seoul's Lonely HarPist

  • this song should have been in an album...

  • Well, if you want to pay about $60 for the Family Tree album, which I did, it's on there, or your could by Verspertine Live--it's on there too. I downloaded Verspertine Live, and it's amazing.

  • I'm sorry, I meant to say you could BUY Vespertine Live.

  • i have both de cds :) i meant "regular" albums

  • Oh yes, I agree. I HATE IT when those idiots start applauding after Zeena freaks out on the harp and Björk does her ad lib. It totally doesn't allow the proper release of tension, and if this song were recorded when people didn't applaud in the middle, I would GREATLY enjoy it.

  • yeah but you gotta admit, i heard it was a standing ovation at that point, thats an amazing achievment... meh wateva she's absolutely imperfectly perfect

  • stay calm.. they were totally excited !! :))

  • I think it adds more to the moment by the applause.

  • holy frick! that harpist is bind boggling!

    she's crazy!

    i love it!

  • I just cant get over her gorgeous voice. I can listen to her forever. Thank god for CDs.

  • this is the most beautiful song she´s ever sung. but maybe i just feel that way cause it´s so stripped down. WHOW...

  • Merci/Thank You. She's so wonderful. This song is definetely one of this best !!!.

  • peleideleric

  • Bjork is the best! And she's lucky to have found a harpist that is as equally eccentric as she is. Great stuff!

  • No problem! :)

  • u are indeed very generous to share this one..tnk u!
