Anyone notice at 2:23 how he does that pull-off? It's so incredibly subtle that you don't even really hear it. But you know it's there and if this was only a recording you'd be racking your brain trying to figure how that (one) note sounds so awesome. Well it's because it's TWO notes that's why. He's just good like that.
@012013014 He works very hard on his tone; is famous for being very exacting. His combination of seriously massaged Fender amps (used to use a Dumble in the mix) and a few effects, as well as his amazing touch - even the picks he uses are carefully cut to his specs.
One of the greatest guitarists of ALL time. Hes living prove of what a small child with the right influence who follows his dreams can become with hard work and discipline. Eric Johnson, Simply one of the Greatest.
if I saw Eric Johnson in concert I would be perfectly still. You would think I'd be bored with my eyes blankly staring off in the distance. But I would be in ecstacy, my mind wrapping itself over the notes, visualizing it going to my fingers . . . Memorizing it . . .
The best music is that what gives you goose bumps when you listen to it! This piece epitomizes that concept! I have been fortunate to see Eric play live several times, including a pit seat for G3. Simply amazing......
It's amazing that I hadn't heard of Eric here sooner, considering how amazingly talented he is. This is probably the best version I've heard of this too. His style at the beginning sounded very classical. Kudos to him, for sure
lol this sounds NOTHING like steve via...steve via dont even sound like steve via he sounds like joe sat lol..EJ is a true guitar hero hands down one of the very best =)
Are you serious? Steve Vai is one of the most innovative, unique and recognizable guitarists ever. He's not even my favourite, but one must give credit where credit is due. I do agree that this sounds nothing like Steve Vai though.
"...and he could play a guitar just like a'ringin' a bell."
