If i wanted to make a 4 foot long one with two colors, would I need each color to be 50 feet or a hundred feet before making two strands for each color..in otherwords, when i am ready to braid, will i have 4 pieces at 25 feet or 50 feet each?
great job showing it. i'd love to have a survival bracelet. how much would u charge to make me one and send to me in canada? i tried to make 1 but have no use in my left hand. thx karen
I have question though, How do you make a two color solomon bar bracelet with side release buckles? I have made them whitout buckles using a bended lenght of cord as core and tying two cords toghether, I start the weaving, then untie the cords and weave the loose ends backwards and singe them, because I don´t like to melt the ends toghether, and they wouldn´t resist any pull anyway.
But I have not found a neat and strong way of making a two colored bracelet with buckles. I have made them just tying an underhand knot at the end of each cord, but that´s a little awquard and only works in adjustable buckles. Have tried the two cow hitches like yours here, but with short ends, tucked inside the weave in the way back from the other buckle, but the bracelet becomes bulkier at that end. CONTINUE BELOW
I have also thought about melting two cords togheter one inside the other and let the union at the middle of the core so it will be tucked (ie: hided) inside the weave, but don´t know if that arrangement would be strong enough. So what do you think? These bracelets would be for sale, with a little of luck. They are not known so well here, and I am trying to start a trend.
The original Solomon Bar video was great and easy enough to follow. This one is actually helpful in better showing how to tie the bars with the two colours.
I love you<3 my older cousin once made a 2-color bracelet like this, and I absolutely loved it, but I lost it and ever since then I've been wondering how it's done:D she never taught me how to do it:(
I know this will be repetitive but could you show how to do this with 3 different colors and then make it into a king cobra bracelet with a black out line?
how do you make a 3 color bar without joining the rope, is it possible? I am talking about making a thin line bracelet that can have two colors like a regular 2 color bar and a thin stripe in the middle.
In response to those wondering how this can be incorporated into a bracelet using a 'Fastex' type buckle. I have been experimenting with this problem and there seems to be three viable options: 1) melt the ends and girth hitch to start as you would with one string 2) as TIAT describes above and then finish it at the end by tying/melting 3) start by weaving the male end of the buckle in such a way that there are no knots or melts - just friction!
My brother is deploying soon and he really wanted one of these for when he was in the field but he didnt want to pay $20 for one. Thanks so much cause now I can make one for him and maybe for some of the other guys in his unit!
hi! wonderful video. sorry if you've already answered this a million times but i was wondering how to attach a button to the end to make it into a bracelet. I've also seen them for sale with a dog tag in the middle so if you know how and could describe how to do that also that would be amazing of you :D
i thought something like this would work for a guitar strap done with black and dark blue para cord to match the finish of my guitar.... my question is is there a formula for how much cord will be needed in regards to the finsished product.... plz let me know
@dokeyjones - I have only made a few things so far. But using 550 paracord, it seems like about 1 foot per inch... so 10 feet of paracord total will give you about 10 inches of finished weave. Give or take a bit. Thankfully, paracord isn't that expensive :) In case that sounds like a lot to you, I just made a 8 inch bracelet using about 8 feet of paracord. It took me about 15 minutes. Enjoy :)
How would you tie the end loop onto this two color solomon bar? In your other video, you started the bar differently. After watching both videos, I can't figure out how to finish the two color solomon bar. Please help. Thanks.
I have the same question. Did you ever figure that out? I'm trying to tie a 2-color solomon bar onto a 3/16" bow shackle and am trying to figure out how to attach the second end. Any suggestions TIAT or anyone else?
Would it be possible for you to do a video using this solomon bar knot and attaching it to the plastic clips so it can snap on and snap off? Also, what size clips would you use?
Excellent tutorial but I still have one problem... Ending it.. Usually I use a button but its too much string to try a button, and I cant buy side release buckles here so I really liked the key chain idea because I wouldn't have to worry about the button popping off...Could you show how to connect the two ends using 1 or 2 key chains? I have tried and failed like 15 times now..
It all depends on how long you want the bar to be. Depending on how you start the bar (like shown in this video or my first Solomon Bar video) you may need more or less rope. My advice is to double the length of rope you think you'll need for your "bar" and trim it to the desired length your looking for (after tied)
is this easy to unravel?

about 10-12 inches per an inch.

@AirmanLoehnert If you use a really tight weave like I do, it's 0.75 feet per inch.
