No one knows for sure, but almost all are in agreement that 1.5m is not accurate. Even Fox news refuted this number to Glen Becks face.

I was on the Mall during the Tea Party Rally. 70,000 people max. When Dick Armey got on the mic and said there was over "a million" in attendance, I saw the Capitol Police laugh in disgust at such a bold face lie.
I watched an Ultimate Frisbee game on the Mall between 4th and (what would be) 6th street. This area is the 150k to 200k "crowd-size" area. Another large event had the Mall between 7th and 14th street (the 500k to 900k crowd size area).

No matter what source you choose to believe this event equaled or surpassed the Inauguration of President Obama, comparing aerial photos of both events. DC Park Police and capitol police do NOT give crowd estimates. The DC Fire Dept did give an estimate, which was officially 60,000-to-70,000. Google it.

I was on the Mall during the Tea Party Rally. 70,000 people max. When Dick Armey got on the mic and said there was over "a million" in attendance, I saw the Capitol Police laugh in disgust at such a bold face lie.
I watched an Ultimate Frisbee game on the Mall between 4th and (what would be) 6th street. This area is the 150k to 200k "crowd-size" area. Another large event had the Mall between 7th and 14th street (the 500k to 900k crowd size area).

@legend9923 So where were these 1.5 million people when George Bush signed the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 (Also known as Medicare Plan D), which was the biggest entitlement program since the Social Security Act. This Medicare expansion has cost the United States nearly a half trillion dollars since 2006. I think most of these TEA partiers are on Medicare. They got their bread buttered not they want to make sure they don't have to pay more tax out of thei SS checks. Greedy bastards.

No matter what source you choose to believe this event equaled or surpassed the Inauguration of President Obama, comparing aerial photos of both events. BTW, the tea patriots didn't protest Clinton's regime change and bombing of the 77 billion dollar war in Serbia, his bombing of the Chinese Embassy or the strike in Iraq either.

Our LOCAL rally had over 1500 people and our LOCAL Liberal paper said around 200. You're right, lies upset me too. I knew people there, on the ground. They spoke with the DC police personally and saw the crowd. The conservative estimate was 750,000 people. And the DC police said up to 1.2 million.

@Kimcrawley Actually, the most compelling crowd size estimate come from the DC fire dept. who can accurately judge what a big rally looks like (a Presidential inauguration, for example) and a medium-sized rally (9/12). DC Park Police and capitol police do NOT give crowd estimates. The DC Fire Dept did give an estimate, which was officially 60,000-to-70,000. Google it.

There is simply no way over a million were there that day. The entire event barely registered with DC traffic dept. Trains ran just fine with overload. Highways had no traffic. Occupancy rates at area hotel were running 60 to 70% full. Sorry, once again, you are not entitled to your own facts.

@jensen1901 I also heard on the local news that ABC was reporting over 1 million people, however that figure was later amended. I forgive the local newscaster for getting ABC's report wrong. Or did they? I remember thinking at the time "wow, if ABC is reporting that, it must be HUGE." However, throw that out and you still have people on the ground, DC Police, UK Daily Mail and the Aerial photos. The estimates of 60-70 thousand are totally bogus.

If you need proof that it works look at europe where amost every country uses the socialist health care system succesfully. @Eleriol84 I have to disagree. France is suffering from deficits concerning it's health care system. England is unable to replace faulty equipment. My Aunt, who lives in Canada, couldn't obtain the operation she required to remove a lung. She had to come to the States to get it done. Socialized medicine isn't a good system...eventually costs have to be made somewhere and it usually ends up in the patient care area. Socialism...No. Our country is a Republic. We want to keep it.

There will only be so much money to go around for an enormous amount of people. There will have to be cuts made to patient care, so does that premature baby get life support it needs or does the AIDS patient get their medication? Congress did nothing to address what is really wrong with the system.
