I just got back I went there friday afternoon at 12:00pm and left on sunday afternoon. I'm sad it's over it was awesome but wayyyy too hot. I was in a Wafen SS uniform on friday and I thought I was going to faint...
The next two days I was wearing my 101st airborne uniform, and then I thought I would catch on fire
theres also and always some Easy Company vets. this year at 2008 theres Lynn "Buck" Compton, Don Marakey, Forrest Guth, and Earl McClung. They are truly my heroes, except they don't really like being called heroes. if u call they heroes sometimes they get alittle ticked off. They say the true heroes are the killed and wounded, which is true. But they are still heroes too me and so are the killed and wounded. same wit those flyboys, marines, the navy, infantry, and armored kids.
looks like theres no more Babe Heffron, Ted Winters, and Bill Guarnere. And also did u no that "Buck" Compton was the man who sent Sirhan Sirhan (the man who killed Robert Kennedy) away to prison for life. He wanted to give Sirhan the death penalty, but the jury did not.
i go there all the time wit my uncle and get those good turkey dinners. he was going to buy this tiger tank wheel, but he decided not to cuz it wasnt going to fit in the car.
Nice video - I recognized quite a few people in it, too.
I don't think it's the largest event in the Nation, though. I think that honor belongs to the Fort Indiantown Gap "Battle of the Bulge" with over 1600 re-enactors attending.
