This is by far the best question I've seen yet. I'm 22 years old, and Granny D, this is one of my biggest concerns about our political process.

Unfortunately politicians find ways to sidestep issues that are important to me, and focus on issues such as gay marriage, abortion, and terrorism, which I feel are less threatening to American citizens than bought and paid for presidents.
