I don't know enough about the gold standard versus the current air standard to have a strong opinion about it, but I DO know that the Federal Reserve should be abolished, and Dr. Paul is the only candidate that I've heard speaking about this. The "Federal Reserve" is not a Federal organization and it is not a "reserve". It's private bank that prints OUR money. The government should be in control of printing money, not some lawless bank!

It is a silly idea :) There would have to be an injection of gold into the market for it to lose value. Injection so great, that only the most powerful would be able, but they wouldn't dare. And, if you had competing currencies, people and banks would simply switch to much more stable silver.

That was a home run. When Ron explained the increase in the "price" of oil as compared to the USD and the euro was 300+ percent and 200+ percent respectively but when you compare it to gold, oil has not gone up at all. Now you can see the monetary advantage of a gold standard. A $20(1oz) gold piece from 100 years ago bought a fine suit. Today it still will at $868/oz

Good observation, but you may have overlooked something. The "international bankers", as Caroll Quigley described them, own 2/3 of the world's gold. Therefore, going back on a gold standard would simply give them more power over us than before. A silver standard makes more sense because it is intrinsically valuable like gold but it is much more plentiful (see "The Money Masters"). As a side, silver is expected to rise by as much as 100% in 2008. Happy buying!! Go RON PAUL!!!!!!
