  • They are something special, for real.

  • Its sad to see this now that knowing that the band wasn't really getting along with each other at this point of time. Yet the music is still solid.

  • @relaxx89 Yeah its about a little boy talking about his babysitter growing up. He said it in a interview.

  • god he is sooooooo hot.!!!!!

  • dave is the absolute man.

  • i love dave

  • DAVE MATTHEWS IS GOD

  • His voice must have been really dry or sumthing it sounds rly raspy

  • did he write this song or is it a cover? and if it is his which studio album if any is it on? i thought i had them all...

  • @posty92 This is just one of their songs that they dont have recorded. Like Cornbread, Break Free, Sugar Will etc etc. They only play those live.

  • @muzikman1793 they have recorded Cornbread. It's included on the European version of Big W. There's also a song called "Write A Song" on there. =)

  • @relaxx89 Most of the versions that I've heard are about a boy that's in love with his babysitter.

  • What r the acual lyrics? they are different ever time. love fenway too!!!

  • carter beauford, how do you do it? seriously, it's not natural to be that ridiculously good.

  • they never put the best new live songs on the album it seems. crazy-easy, joy ride... then they came out with stand up.

  • so true..... not to mention lilly white sessions

  • why did they leave this and shotgun off big whiskey??????????

  • Yeah no kidding on both songs, at least add it to the bonus disk.

  • @stackleft dave wont take his singles that he plays live and throw them on an album. especially big whiskey where it was built from the ground up in dedication to LeRoi. He has a lot of other tunes like those 2 tht he could have used to such as loving wings or cornbread etc.

  • so awesome

  • Its about his babysitter growing up

  • well that is the general consensus about it.But i think if you look outside what we think is Dave's meaning for the song, that we all have that same feeling about some women/man growing up a

  • great song...pity it wasn't included on big whiskey..

  • agree

  • indeed

  • You're right! I was hoping it would be on the album as well. One of my favorites.

  • i like the version at boston where he says "Bus stop dreamer, the late night, you with me theres something, moving you cant stop saying that you love me, you love me, you love me, enough enough you make me smile, but baby, i wake up, now now yeaaaaaaahhhhh!!!

  • i love the Fenway version also. way better version

  • agreed. best version is at fenway.

  • live traxs 14 is amazing

  • Bus stop dreamer........remember being a kid waiting for the bus??? All i ever did was think about the most random and funny things. And if there was a girl you liked well maybe you got to thinking about some more "grown up" things

  • What does "bus stop dreamer" mean

  • a person who gives a lot of thought at things while standing on a bus stop. I'm one of them, I come up with all my best Ideas while on the bus stop :)

  • This song is awsome. I have this on the Live Trax Live in fenway album. I wonder if this will make it on his next album kinda like how some of his other "concert only" songs made it onto stand up.

  • Has to be one of the sweetest songs I've ever heard, beaten only by a few other dmb songs, surprise surprise :)

  • Great song....It was a real good concert too...It was at DTE in Clarkston MI...

  • It was not played at the DTE in Clarkston, MI. It was played at Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI. Everybody knows it's Pine Knob unless you've been born before the last ten or so years.

  • Ease up eggs....Obviously it WAS Pine Knob...Now its DTE Energy Music Theater....You should have known that, unless you were born yesterday...

  • yeah c'mon ease up eggs

  • zachyd, yes it is a veillette. look it up

  • A good version, not the best, fenway is great. But what is really impressive is how his string breaks and he has kept playing, true musicianship right there, most acts would stop to get a new guitar.

  • indeed, but keep in mind this is a 12 string guitar so, breaking one string doesnt really cause much of a problem...

  • This is also true but if i broke a string live *knock on wood* i know the surprise alone would make me stop.

  • You'd think. My friend was playing once, and when the string broke, it popped up and stabbed him in the eye ball. Lol.

  • ...And now I'll be paranoid every note I hit. Thanks!

  • tis why I play with goggles on ; )

  • Thank you so much for this, really!

  • cool thanks, so you can only get it online?

  • what kind of guitar is that? Ive gone to 4 differnt guitar shops and they dont even know what Im talking about.

  • It's a Veillette Gryphon. They run an oline store.

  • no its not.

  • nobody wants your STDs

  • Happiness extended!!! I am so proud of being able to feel this way about a song. I love life more. Thank you DMB! God Bless and Thank you so much!!! All my prayers forever, sincerlely!!! Love, Nickie

  • the sweetest band in the whole world for ever and ever

  • Leroi we will miss you! You're amazing you're music is amazing!

    forever DMB.

  • Amazing version of this at the 6/28/08 Nissan Pavillion concert. I'm very glad someone recorded it so now I have it. This one is good too, but not the best.

  • I was there, too. Have you seen the guy on myspace that has that entire show? Its pretty cool.

  • What's the guys name on myspace?? I was there too...I'd love to relive the concert

  • dmbnissanpavillion62808

  • Man Dave and gang are awesome! Ever so talented!

  • I really love this song... Great energy... makes me feel good...

  • great song

  • go home

  • this band... this band :)

  • this has huge potential as a single...so I hope it makes the album. But they really need to do something about the "I'm not going to pull your hair" lyric. Come on Dave; you wrote the lyrics to the Dreaming Tree and Warehouse, right? You can do better than that!

  • the pull your hair lyric shows how the songs about youth and how its like what kids would do, hes also added kick your shins so its not just the one line though, but i do agree on the fact that his lyrics have gone way down hill after everyday, specially stand up, stand up is so freaking bad

  • Take it easy man. He makes up half the lyrics as he goes. Dont live or die by every word he says. if it was easy every song would be warehouse

  • stop hating on stand up. it's a good but not great album.

  • I think the bad likes to jam a bit more nowadays. Dave's solos are still as great as ever though. #27 and I Won't Give It Away still have the lyrical greatness that is Dave Matthews.

  • his lyrics change according to how he feels, and most lyrics come from specific emotional outbursts of sadness or happiness...it seems dave is content with his life at the moment, so his lyrics are more playful and such. also, i LOVE the "pull your hair, kick your shins" lyrics! so childish!

  • acually, stefan wrote dreaming tree, just a correction

  • actually your wrong...dave and stefan wrote dreaming tree together..get ur facts before u try to be a dick

  • im not being a dick, stefan "cowrote" it after his daughters death

  • Such a good Dave song

  • Yeah, that guitar is a Veillette Gryphon! Beautiful Instrument!!! Beautiful song!!! There is nothing like it!!!

  • Thanks, I was wondering. :) It's nice how he recovered after the string broke...always amazing.

  • I love DMB..This is my favorite song . I can listen to it 50 times a day

  • Great song. Great band.

  • nice recovery from the broken string and great song!

  • Bonus: you dont have to enter your Credit card number to watch ANY of DMB's videos!

  • Love this song. What cd is it on?

  • not on a studio album yet. you can get recordings of concerts though. atleast i do.

  • Thanks for this! I can't stop watching this one.

  • the fenway park version of this song is my favorite, if someone had a good video of that id love it

  • loves it

  • can't listen to it enough!!!!

  • love this song, it better be on the next album

  • this song reminds me of that girl, if u know what i mean.

  • yeah i totally know what you mean

  • its amazing how he still (after all these years) can write such awesome songs.

  • this is one of my all time favorite songs... i love the live trax volume nine version the best

  • Does dave play Electric Mandolin much?Cause this is one of the first times i have seen him use it.

  • its not an electric mandolin, its called a griffin guitar or somthin like that

  • oh, just thought boyd had passed it onto dave. lol

  • he calls it a soprano guita i believe, tuned to b

  • hmm, he hasnt used it much in the past, cept for this song mainly

  • i pretty sure the guitar is called a griffin..

  • i dont know thats for sure lol.

  • I love how he has played for so many years and still plays with so much emotion. Consistanly puts out amazing music. Easily one of the best bands of all time.

  • The idea of you live in lisbon, 25th may 2007... the best ever!

  • The Fenway Park version is much better. Give it a listen. (Just my opinion of course!)

  • Ohmygosh. That album is fucking amazing.

He is just incredible. Hahah that's one

    of my favoite albums :]

  • loooovveee this song

  • that was cool

  • this song is so awesome

  • its so weird seeing him play an electric

im not used to seeing that much of his torso

    haha

  • i'm not complaining... ;)

  • he moves his had cas he loses his place and then gets back on. well thats what antsmarching says. he dose it in allot of shows you just have to catch it

  • you can see the broken string for the rest of the song....

  • he breaks a string at 58 seconds thats why he moves his hand like that

  • for sure man, he broke it. perks of a 12 string, you break a string its not gonna screw up your chords.

  • man i need to get on the boyd tinsley workout plan cuz he is ripped.

  • stefan and his swaying thing...hilarious

  • man he better play this at alpine. great song by him

  • He played this at Alpine on Sunday. Best concert yet.

  • what was he doing with his hand at 58 seconds

  • looks like he broke a string

  • every time he plays this song he changes the lyrics. he is such an incredible artist

  • ON dmbalmanac dot com it says that he said it was about a baby sister when he was young on the 7-8-07 show

  • he said babysitter, not baby sister...that would just be creepy

  • yeah haha my bad didnt mean to write that

  • He said it was about his Babysitter when he was young not his "baby sister"...

  • Yeah, I was there. It was at Bridgeview, IL July 8th, 2007

  • He played this last night at Toyota Park so tight. My new favorite song

  • GREAT TUNE .MORBOZON NEEDE HELP

  • Hey Morbozon -

    Fuck you

  • can't wait for the new album!

  • grace

  • hes using a real small guitar here

  • are you fucked in the head?

  • i heard your mom fucks little kids

  • I suspect this song might actually be about his wife (as most of his love songs are). He's a few years older than her and she would have been pretty young when they got together, so I think it's probablly about the beginning of their relationship. He's obviously quite in love with her still :-)

  • "I'm fallin all over my tongue just trying to say good day to you"

  • "it´s funky"

  • if you like DMB, i would like to invite you to watch our home produced live music videos...our music is original and we hope to capture the listener who is appreciative of home grown organic music and jammin...tell us what u think and subscribe to qeqo23 if you would like to be updated on more live entertainment and when we finish our cd.....thanks

  • this song is actually about his first girlfriend or somethin...lol dave is not a pedophile

  • this song means so much

  • this song is obviously about Dave having urges of pedophilia listen to the words. Gross man

  • you're a moron

  • Pass the crack pipe.

  • What peodo about the lyrics u twat??

  • Great song!!

  • This song kicks butt. It reminds me of all things that I love.

  • Such A Great Song Live... Saw Dave 4 Times In 06 And Will See Him More And More As The Years Go... Saw This Song Live In Antioch, TN Last August!!!

  • Best live version of the song!

  • I hope they will play it in Brussels. I can't wait the show :)

  • Amazing new song! Saw him perform it in Toronto in '06.

  • So did I... the Amphitheater was bumpin' that night.

  • it was july 4th because at the end the fireworks went off

  • They played this at the show I was at a week later! So good!

  • brasil too :(

  • fekking great !!!

  • Dave should really come to Finland!!

  • And to Poland!!!

  • I can't get enough of this song. I hope I get to see it live. Dave is the best.

  • Great freakin video. I can't get enough of this song. I hope they play it in Vegas in March! I can't wait.

  • If this videao gets removed, I'm gonna be enraged.

  • easily my favorites of the new songs released this summer

  • I went to fenway back in june and saw DMB play this song...it's so addicting and never gets old.

    Love it!

  • as one of dave's new songs he pulled out this summer tour, i would have to say it's one of the best. along with new songs from this summer, "Break Free", "Kill the King", "Sister", and "Shotgun", you could possibly see "Idea of You" on the band's next album. i love dave pulling out the new sound on the 12 string veillette gryphon, it gives a sound kind of like you hear in "Grey Street" or "JTR" but a lot sharper.. solid vid, props to whoever put it up

  • Hey - You're right about the 12 string veillette. One thing I'm not sure about is the tuning. Is it raised (in comparison of a 'normal' guitar)or a standard tuned guitar?

Thanks for putting this vid on the tube!!

  • It's tuned to C instead of E on a standard guitar.

  • *gigglesnort* And I love how Dave says "Idear" XD Dave, you crack me up, man! Haha!

  • I love this song. I forget where the band was during this year, but Dave tried to sing this song when his voice was shot and it was miserable. My boyfriend and I just winced. But I was so happy when he played it when we were at Coors. It sounded awesome. No one knew it though, it was funny. Same with Butterfly. ^_^

  • That was the West Palm show 8.12.06, I believe.

  • Thanks. I couldn't remember for the life of me what show it was. Poor Dave. I really hope he doesn't lose his voice even though the doctors say he could. Don't smoke, Dave! haha!

  • that was definetly the case when they played it in west palm beach.. still a great show though

  • Oh I don't doubt it. I think any Dave show is awesome. ^_^ Just hearing him pluck a few strings in Because of Winn-Dixie made me happy. XD Can't wait for the next tour already!

  • All you did was focus on Dave. That f-ing sucks. For once will someone get Carter or the rest of the band on cam.

  • not a camera made that can capture all that talent in one place... don't ya know ;)

  • Wow. Way to be appriciative Alwayzsmilin. You do realize that it's a bitch to get a vid with the security and everything. There a decent amount of Boyd and Carter.

  • That was an interesting guitar he was playing. It looked like a 12-string electric, but I couldn't see it plugged in anywhere. Anyone know what type that is, and if so, who makes it?

  • dave has a wireless cord that feeds to the amp.
