This is the FIRST time I've ever heard SooYoung speak English like this. I always wondered if she knew what was being said....I guess this interview answers THAT question.
Well... from what read there are not so much pro-Sones here... Should I remind you guys that when SNSD first debut, Tiffany didn't speak that much in interviews? Indeed, she said she was not confident in speaking for the group because her Korean wasn't that great yet. It was mostly Taeyeon and Sooyoung (and still now)... now that she is in her "element"... you guys are blaming her talking "too much"?that's insane... And she's doing a great job promoting SNSD and K-pop in general. SNSD fighting!
I don't see why everyone hates on Tiffany for answering stuff in the interviews, especially the ones on television or ones that are live. The other girls can't speak English and Jessica is more cautious with her answers and takes a while to respond. It makes the interviewer feel more awkward and makes the interview run badly. Tiffany is quick and confident with her answers and makes the atmosphere enjoyable.
Please don't kill me for this but, although Fany is my favourite member in SNSD i think that she always answers most of the questions. Like in other english interviews as well, everytime Jessica starts to speak she always gets cut off. I feel kinda bad for her. D:
@rscele Not really true, I saw a lot of interviews where Fany get cut off by Sica. And you can see in this video, Fany never cuts off Sica. Indeed, you can see at 0:36, they began their sentence at the same time, but Fany stoped herself to see if Sica wanted to speak, that's a fact. (Sry for my bad english)

They need to release a proper full-length english album and train speaking in english more. If Korea can wait for a new song for about a year, I'm sure a few months wouldn't hurt their Japanese promotions. They also need to not work with Teddy Riley or anyone who incorporates subtle sexual references in their songs. Also promoting alongside with their labelmates in the US would be a good thing.

I was kinda disappointed that they couldn't come up with a better English song for them than "The Boys" I think with this song they moved too far from their SNSD style that made fans love them so much. a lot of fans still like it but a lot of fans don't. maybe they should first try turning one of their hit songs into an English song.

That was an interesting bit of info I didn't know before about SM Pres. And he is correct about the music industry in Asia. Essentially Kpop music industry/market is BOOming over seas. Western influence (music mostly) is becoming less, and less, prominent or less influenced in Asia as a whole. Jpop and Kpop is slowly moving in this direction. It's really an issue of the people and their willingness to accept something different. If not WG or SNSD it will be someone else from Korea!
I am SO glad Tiffany and Jessica are a part of SNSD. With their presence, SNSD can help bridge the gap between East and West and hopefully become a huge success in America.
This is their secret weapon for coming to America! Jessica & Tiffany speaking clearly in ENGLISH!! That will help in interviews on shows & appearances, plus their extensive playlist of songs dating back to 2007, so different DJ's or talk shows can play them in background! Sooyoung speaks nice english, too.
As much as I adore the Wonder Girls, and I think their attempt to make here in the U.S. has been a good journey for them, but honestly, the Wonder Girls didn't exactly succeed. I feel with having 9 members, SNSD may do a tad bet better. Another difference is, SM Entertainment is open to working with American producers and JYP Entertainment lead their party mostly on their own. Wish these girls much success here.
Honestly, I think the 9 member roster is going to be one of there biggest hurdles here. Aside from the success of the Pussycat Dolls (who besides Nicole were more sex appeal then talent, which i dont think SNSD could pull off) boy/girl pop groups is pretty much a dead concept here in the U.S. Plus "the boys" eng ver. isn't a well written song,which is no fault of the girls.

Any one can be a "singer" in this business if they truly want it bad enough. Members of SNSD WANTS IT BAD, and so does their president of SM Entertainment. SM sent singer Boa here & she's doing alright. It's all got to do with marketing. Sure, 9 people seems like a lot but I think that can be an advantage to some degree.
Sure, the U.S. has a lot of crap singers, but for every Beiber, cyrus, and Jonas theres a beyonce, Adele, timberlake, and Gaga type talent(shes wierd as F*** but about as talented as they come)(And also I dont think Rianna is that bad, she is an international star for a reason). And im speaking about the US market as it is now, the spice girls were indeed popular but that was during the peak of the boy/girl band phenomenon of the 90's.

@KBeOKEH And from what ive been told, 'The boys" in Korean is a very meaningful song, but when it got translated to english it didnt make a whole lot of sense. plus the fact that the chanting-like chorus reminds me of Gwen Stefani's "hollaback girl" doesnt help either lol. And I totally agree with your assessment of Music in Asia and that KPop is quickly becoming the dominating force over there.
And please dont mistake me for some anti, i am a fan. But i just dont think they can reach the level of stardom in the US that many of there fans seem to think. Especially in the current US market which caters more towards solo/singer-songwriters atm.
As a American I love these girls and their music..Their personality,music and charm is exactly what entertainment here in the states needs..We need celebrities who are decent and have class and that's what SNSD brings to the U.S...
I really hope their American debut is a huge success. It's about time we get a prominent Asian group out in the American music industry. The only thing we have is Far East Movement, but they're not really known for their performers, only their music. We need these girls out front and center of the cameras.

That was an interesting bit of info I didn't know before about SM Pres. And he is correct about the music industry in Asia. Essentially Kpop music industry/market is BOOming over seas. Western influence (music mostly) is becoming less, and less, prominent or less influenced in Asia as a whole. Jpop and Kpop is slowly moving in this direction. It's really an issue of the people and their willingness to accept something different. If not WG or SNSD it will be someone else from Korea!

This is their secret weapon for coming to America! Jessica & Tiffany speaking clearly in ENGLISH!! That will help in interviews on shows & appearances, plus their extensive playlist of songs dating back to 2007, so different DJ's or talk shows can play them in background! Sooyoung speaks nice english, too.

As much as I adore the Wonder Girls, and I think their attempt to make here in the U.S. has been a good journey for them, but honestly, the Wonder Girls didn't exactly succeed. I feel with having 9 members, SNSD may do a tad bet better. Another difference is, SM Entertainment is open to working with American producers and JYP Entertainment lead their party mostly on their own. Wish these girls much success here.

Honestly, I think the 9 member roster is going to be one of there biggest hurdles here. Aside from the success of the Pussycat Dolls (who besides Nicole were more sex appeal then talent, which i dont think SNSD could pull off) boy/girl pop groups is pretty much a dead concept here in the U.S. Plus "the boys" eng ver. isn't a well written song,which is no fault of the girls.
Now, Do I want them to succeed? sure, i'm a fan
Will they? most likely not. then again i could be wrong.

@Ed60 Seriously, look at the current crop of pop singers here in the U.S. Really? Rianna, Bieber, JLo? Have you heard of the Spice Girls? It's all about marketing! Any one can be a "singer" in this business if they truly want it bad enough. Members of SNSD WANTS IT BAD, and so does their president of SM Entertainment. SM sent singer Boa here & she's doing alright. It's all got to do with marketing. Sure, 9 people seems like a lot but I think that can be an advantage to some degree.

Sure, the U.S. has a lot of crap singers, but for every Beiber, cyrus, and Jonas theres a beyonce, Adele, timberlake, and Gaga type talent(shes wierd as F*** but about as talented as they come)(And also I dont think Rianna is that bad, she is an international star for a reason). And im speaking about the US market as it is now, the spice girls were indeed popular but that was during the peak of the boy/girl band phenomenon of the 90's.

@KBeOKEH And your absolutely right, it is all about marketing, but the material still needs to be good, which i don't beleive the boys is. SNSD may want it bad, but I don't thing the prez of SM does. If i remeber correctly he said in an iterview that he had no intention of truly diving into the US market and the boys eng ver. was more of a thank u to there english fans, he wanted to conquer Asia cause he said it would soon be "The center of the music world" which is just...no.

@KBeOKEH And from what ive been told, 'The boys" in Korean is a very meaningful song, but when it got translated to english it didnt make a whole lot of sense. plus the fact that the chanting-like chorus reminds me of Gwen Stefani's "hollaback girl" doesnt help either lol. And I totally agree with your assessment of Music in Asia and that KPop is quickly becoming the dominating force over there.

And please dont mistake me for some anti, i am a fan. But i just dont think they can reach the level of stardom in the US that many of there fans seem to think. Especially in the current US market which caters more towards solo/singer-songwriters atm.

I really hope their American debut is a huge success. It's about time we get a prominent Asian group out in the American music industry. The only thing we have is Far East Movement, but they're not really known for their performers, only their music. We need these girls out front and center of the cameras.
