  • love this video....DMB rocks

  • I've been watching this video for a couple of years now and just now realized he's barefoot xD

  • this music video is beautifully edited.

  • whats different?

  • DMB won't be the same without Leroy

  • It's taken me a few minutes to find the Comment box. If you're not a man on Lilly olanzapine then I'll have sweet dreams tonight and u know that I will. Mac might take care of everything. Work on your typing skills Dave then (I can assure you) that crazy black Boyd will pop out of yourself real soon. Brother. Something missing visually. I'm fine Dave. I just thought u had a bit more to do with your time. My God. I'm not gonna rip you off. Why would I? What ya worried about? Huey?

  • Seek... seek, dear brothers... the time is now, as always.

I dream, visualize the dreams and, know there is hope and, answers in your soul cries. Your spirit knows ;)

Clearly you have been choosen.. You don't choose it. Your brave to bare your souls. Music is the 2nd most powerful force on earth....Cheers ;)

  • did Hee died?

  • Prefer it live (with the driving/pounding bass!) but this is an awesome video!

  • i think this video is alot deeper than you'd first realise. Id love to sit down with whoever directed it and talk about what inspired him.

  • @ChristoffUK Fenton did it. Well, he and Dave did it. If you don't know who Fenton is, he does DMB's lights. And yes, he's the same Fenton from the bumper sticker "Do It For Fenton." He also directed the Folsom Field DVD.

  • This reminds me of the Funny the Way It Is video, in the way that they just keep putting shit on him while he seizes and stuff. Epic

  • kooky

  • talk about heroine

  • Praise God who has many names but the Devil has many more. With the love that my mother gave me in gonna drop the devil to the floor

  • i like at shit im new 4 at shit

  • how do you film it so it makes it look like your having a seizure? that was awesome.

  • Money!

  • EH HEE!!

  • this is the most surreal thing i've ever seen in my life

  • The thing I think I'm most impressed with is the acting by Dave... good stuff...

  • Woah

  • I'm a huge Dave fan and had no idea he had a video for this song! Awsome!

  • Try some shrooms and watch this. Mind=Blown.

  • Love it. thanks for posting!

  • @dmbsessions you suck! ya jackass!

  • Me no like clowns...is this song really about devil worshipping?

  • @ShortestShowShown no its about how like we were put on this earth to praise god and be peaceful on the most part but most people do things like fight, have wars, steal, rape, and other crimes. the devil has many more is like there is so much bad stuff in a supposively peaceful world.

  • Genius. Reminds me of my so who has Tourettes. I love it.

  • woah

  • dude wtf are u talking about you witch doctor

  • This video is like a really weird dream! I love it!

  • one of the best videos ever!!!

  • its not on a album. it's a great song with tim but this version is still pretty good a darker version cool

  • actually it is on the live at radio city album, which is a GREAT dave and timmy album...LOVE IT!!!

  • not on a studio album i ment it is on various hor the live trax series

  • Not only a great singer, song writer and guitarrist, he would be a great actor as well. He's got the whole package.

  • He does have the whole package!

    quite the talented man! :)

He has acted a few times actually. He does a very god job in the ones I have seen!

  • Comment removed

  • probably the most unheard DMB song heard

    still amazing tho

  • Its not a DMB song.

    Its just Dave Matthews.

He played every instrument in the song.

  • how do u know that? really... he played every instrument? i love this song... it's my boyfriends fav dmb song... and he is not a big dmb fan. .. but if he ... dave, played every instrument... hmmm... that would add a whole new level. like a steven winwood level.

give me your proof... make me a believer.

  • Well, it was in an interview in a magazine.

And its not a DMB song.

Its just Dave Matthews solo work.

  • Rolling Stone interview. 40th anniversary edition. He was talking about the marvels of modern technology (and other great things) and how he can record himself playing different instruments and singing in different ways to make him sound like an entire tribe of himself singing.

Great article. You should look it up. :-]

  • dave is god. whoever goes against dave will be destroyed.

  • This happened to me before.

  • It happened to me just last week, and I still haven't gotten the egg out of hair.

  • excellent!

  • How come Ive never saw this or knew about this! I loved dave matthews forever and never knew this existed! Love it!

  • bravo

  • I think Dave Matthews has gone completely insane

  • Nah, hes off lsd

  • what a twisted reality... i love this song, but i am so not sure of this version... regardless of my opinion dave rocks it out. DROP THE DEVIL TO HIS KNEES!!!!~)

  • why

  • he's a great actor as well as musician

  • I love when, on the Radio City dvd, Dave and Tim are backstage and one of the guys working is like "Whats this song called?" and dave just looks at him and goes "I don't know. It says here its called 'Eh hee...' that sounds pretty good to me"

  • you should post the link to that

  • I'll try to find one.

  • fantastic song. :]

  • This video is AMAZING

  • So what's the deal with this song?

The Wikipedia for the new album says its not on the track listing so what are they doing with it?

  • just another one of his "live" never released songs. he actually played this song back in 2006 a couple of times.

    cheers!

  • Yea I figured it would end up like Granny...but Granny doesn't have a music video lol

  • ive heard them play it live, but its def more of a dave and tim song anyways.

  • I had no idea they even made a video for this song til I came across this by accident. Stellar.

  • its so different to listen to this cus im used to listening to the recorded versions BEFORE the Live, but this is backwards

    SPAC/BETHEL WOODS 2009

  • Dave is crazy! I love him - he's an awesome actor, but have you watched the dancers in this video? I know it's hard to watch anything other than Dave, but the choreography in this vid is an absolute trip! I'm totally digging it!

  • genius written all over it in bold letters, CAPITALIZED with exclamation points!!!!!!!!

    yup

  • WHAT

    THE

    FUCK

  • personally i think the radio city version of this song is a lot better

  • do you think that woman is supposed to symbolize someone?

  • Dave is so simple in his thoughts but he's so profound and deep at the same time, such a cool guy.

  • what a weird video, but great song

  • Praise god for he has many names, but the devil has many more

What a great artist dave is

  • This man brings so much happiness to my life. <3

  • dave is living art

  • i've definitely seen more then 3 versions,i wish i could find the one thats not on youtube, i feel it's better, it's got more old timey dave in it.

  • Does he realize his greatness? Man he rocks.

  • Amazing vid. He's a talented individual, no doubt 'bout it.

  • he recorded this by himself. all the voices and instroments are him

  • Eh hee yeah amanaya yeaha yeah eh eh amana!!!!

    DAVE MATTHEWS IS GOD!!!!

  • I AGREE FULLY

  • i absolutely agree with you!!

eh hee is one of those unique songs of his...

  • creepy

  • anyone who hasn't checked out the song Cigarette Lit that was unreleased by Dave on Some Devil, needs to check it out just search it now it is amazing.

  • Song is extremely different when played live.

  • @kbh11boy crazy different live.

  • @kbh11boy haha why? cause they don't have glockenshpiels in the bachground or what?

  • I really enjoy this version. Fav part - at roughly 2:20.

  • I just can't seem to get enough of this video.

  • f-ing amazing. Dave Matthews is a freakin' genuis.

  • I love David J. Matthews

  • Wow, sounds a lot darker on here than on the Radio City CD. Interesting that the same song can sound dark one way and light in another...

  • I thought this was incredible... reminds me why I think this man is the best musician and songwriter of our time.

I think what this video is portraying is the useless, ignorant, and detached state that most people are in. He's making the point that society "dresses us up" and we take it. We are conforming, being pushed around and missing the point of life "come to believe we're the greatest"... Dave got the opportunity to see another culture, showing to him how fucked up ours can be

  • hahaha his expression at 148 is priceless. hes like "oh hell no, i know this bitch did not just do that!" this video is awesome. really powerful. funny and serious at times

  • that's so cool! I actually got to meet the choreographer and video director this week!!!!!

  • look up the lyrics and listen to the song at the same time...it makes it MUCH better when you actually understand what he's saying...he's a little different these days huh?

  • at 1:04 dave the clown says the.

  • This video is amazing! Its ultimate insanity! A great reflection on the way that religion has misconstrued the ways that many of us see the world...

The photography is artful, the acting by Dave is spot on and the set design is minimal yet elegant and dark. Whoever directed this video did a phenomenal job...

I cant wait for the new album! I've heard around 6 new songs on the net that have yet to be released and I love every one of them!!!!

  • even better when you listen to his story behind the song on the Live at Radio City DVD :)

  • This song kicks Live! Dave played it all three nites at the Gorge this Summer...never seen Dave strum so fast on any other song. great song...can't wait for the new album....

  • my favorite part is the dancers in the back

  • The video is amazing. It is obviously Dave's hollywood audition. If the man continues to pursue acting...he could become the greastest actor.

  • the fact that he did all the instrumentation, songwriting and producing of the song is simply awesome, and for this reason it makes it a precious single for fans. But of course it is just really cool but It could never be as musically fulfilling as if he played it with the rest of the band, who are all renowned musicians.

Awesome videoclip too, very tribal... I still dont know what it means, but I think that is how dave really behaves in the privacy of his home....

  • ok i have watched the two videos, and they are still different then the one that was launched on iTunes. If you look at the facial expressions when he has the hat and clown nose on, it is still different across all three

  • *favors* =D

  • this is brilliant.

  • Bring back Lillywhite.

  • This is a killer song. The video, however, is trippy. To the max.

  • Dave is the one who wrote this.

Lillwhite rules. It would be nice to have one more album with him. I am afraid that part of DMB is forever buried.

  • Dave did an interview in the last Rolling Stone about Eh Hee. He produced the whole song himself. He also played all of the instruments himself for the song for this track. He mixed it all himself too.

  • I just met dave and stephan last night at the Loudest Pep Rally...

they are the two coolest dudes ever. definately made me love dmb more....

  • omg this video is funny it does get kind of repetative but i dont think dave would do anything he wasnt too sure about soo....he wtote the song he produced the video and if he is happy with it i am. SO QUIT COMPLAINING PEOPLE!!.....damn...

  • he also Played all the other instruments

    Drums

    Guitar

    piano

  • Dave Matthews is the man...

  • This song is a fucking breath of fresh air.

  • i dont understand this video at all..

  • Lol. I'm fucking clueless myself. I dunno if he's trying to be a zombie or a mime or what.

  • well than my dear friend, meet dave matthews :)

  • well than my dear friend, meet dave matthews :)

  • well than my dear friend, meet dave matthews :)

  • Well than my dear friend, meet Dave Mmatthews :)

  • hahaha, you guys spelled then wrong like three times in a row :)

  • well than my dear friend, meet dave matthews :)

  • yeah this video is highly akin to something like Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer'

  • Somebody's been hitting the Peter Gabriel records and videos pretty hard lately...

  • adrock, you should check out some live eh hee videos. It sounds better in concert than it does on the video.

  • as does all their music

  • the problem with Dave Matthews doing this more "electronical" sound is you cannot repeat it during a live performance ...and everyone knows that Dave Matthews is a live band. It will be interesting to see what his next album will be like. Personally I hope he does something like Before these Crowded Streets, because it is hands down my favourite album

  • I've seen Eh Hee performed live with the full band and it's great. It has a lot more musical depth than the solo version and everyone in the band plays a part in it.

  • this version of the song is craazzyyy. i love it. i love the acoustic version as well. listening to both seems to give the song two meanings.

  • I don't understand why people wouldn't like this? Or why everybody thinks its so "weird"? It may be different from a lot of his previous work, but it's brilliant. And from a hypocritical standpoint, why is everybody so damn opinionated? If you don't like it then just go, leave, get the hell away from it. Let's lose the hostility, it's terribly unattractive.

  • hmm well excuse me, but i downloaded the free video of this on itunes, and the first time i listened to it on the way to swim practice at 5 in the morning, i thought "damn, this shit SUCKS". but i listened to it 3 or 4 more times.

it's probably the best song of his since dancing nancies or even crush. it's too different to be good, it's amazing.

oh yeah and i'm 15 yrs old. so go suck a dick. dmb is the shit.

  • replying to kunit135...same here...i listened to it once i was like dammnnn this is Dave Matthews?...and then i was just playing my itunes library again..and it came on again, and i actually listened..and it grew on me a lot...now i listen to both versions (acoustic) and this one...it is amazing..and i m 15 too.

  • Great song. I love how Dave Mtthews isn't afraid to enter the strange side of music.

  • im sure you have a deep concern for those living in Africa. All you care about is what kind of oatmeal your mommy is making for you in the morning, you little terd.

  • Amazing song.

  • For those who don't know the story: Dave wrote this song on a trip to Africa when he and his family visited the Khoi San people, a very primal tribe who survive on pretty much air and dirt. He wrote this song as a tribute to the music they create. It's a beautiful tribute, song, and it won't impress the 16 year olds, because 16 year olds don't care about primal African tribes.

  • i love the song. don't you think it's a bit of a stretch to say that 16 year olds who don't like this song don't care about African tribes?

  • Sorry, I work with 16 year olds. They make me pessimistic.

  • I'm 15 and love this song, and I actually do care and believe it is very impressive. As is all of Dave's work. Please, watch your comments and quit trying to speak for everyone. :)

  • I thank you for proving me wrong.

  • what happened to the first eh hee video? i cant find it anywhere on youtube....

  • This whole thing was in Real time.. The dancers.. Dave and the woman painting on his face.. All in real time

for those who dont know what real time is..

When its not sped up or slowed down, all one take all one speed

  • THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU! THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU! .... to make great music. but he does kinda look like he's having a seizure.

  • I think people sometimes restrict an artist with their expectations. No this isn't the stuff that made dmb a top 40 icon, this is new, artistic. If you want top 40 go listen to your radio. If you want to open your mind for a few mins, you might find yourself enjoying, and exploring this song. I love it, there is a story behind the video.... figure it out! Excellent!

  • This is amazing... You guys probably don't even know the story behind... thats why you don't appreciate it... this is part of the top 5 of my favorite songs of Dave or anyone for that matter... number one being Cornbread by dave..

  • you say that now but soon you will find yourself signging "eh hee" without thinking about it and then you'll say, "damn, i guess i do like that song"

  • this song really makes me have to take eh dump

  • just so you all know, dave created all the music for this and plays all the instruments on it

  • big DMB fan here. I love this song live and when dave and tim do it but this version just doesnt sit right with me.

  • great song before it was recorded. they should keep it simple like it was live, then it was so good.

  • this is not great work by any means, this song is annoying and redundant. I love daves music, always have, but this one does nothing for me. I dont understand why this was released as a single.

  • If you don't like this song or video then you are not a true fan to any good music.

    This is "ART"!

Go get the next american idol cd and have fun just don't bash this great work by Dave.

  • I feel the same as Dave has been writing on the road and everything is so raw and good.

    Can't wait!

  • i like it, its dave. Its more personal, like the some devil album.

  • this song is sounding more like the dave of 2000 and with a video like this and lyrics that are just absolutely amazing, we have no idea what we are in for. personally i think the next record will be one of the best since btcs. dave is so fuckin good!

  • Actually, this might be the best song Dave has ever written. Listen to the Dave and Tim version.

  • that is a very bold statement, however, you are entitled to your opinion. I could name 50 songs that dave has written that I would say are better. this is a mundane, repetitive tune, but the D&T version is alot cooler.

  • in regards to the comments about hoping (or not hoping) that this is on the new cd, i'm not sure how many of you know this, but this studio recording is not a DMB song - it's only dave matthews, it's not the band playing. Whatever that means in terms of being on ever being on a cd, band or solo, i have no idea.

  • I'm a huge dave fan but i really dont like the video or the song. The version with Dave and Tim blows this out of the water. I think he screwed this song up with the full band and the video.

  • good stuff. thanks for the post.

  • I like this version the best, I see grammy, and every video award coming this year!

  • i have watched all 3 versions several times... i just can't understand the video. I have had a lot of friends try to explain it to me, its just so bizarre that I can't figure it out... any help anyone?

  • yeah, it's not something you have you wrap your head all the way around...i mean, here, i'll give you a quick guess: the character dave's playing here represents humanity and stuff that we go through. i think the part where the girl comes in, and wraps his head in gauze then puts a helment on him, then tries to feed him an apple must be especially important to him and fenton....it's a part that speaks to me, that's for sure....

  • This song it freaking awesome...I LOVE the video it is really creepy and jacked up but, it reminds me of old DMB!! I can't wait till the TX shows this weekend! I'll be there!

  • its not im a lion

its Eh heee yeah im alright, yeah come on now

  • no, it isn't either.

the chanting is from a tribe that he encountered during his time in africa.

it is, roughly wording the sounds:

"eh eeh hee yeah amanya yeahah yeh heh heh amona"

    =]

  • again pretty sweet. i like all versions of the videos.

  • Not sure I like this version....weird.

  • i can only hope that the Eh Hee does not sound like this on the upcoming album.

  • what ever dude this is creepy and sweet

  • my guess is since it was released on itunes, it wont be on the new cd. i hope it isnt. live this song is boss, but i dont like this version, and the videos are weird as hell

  • its like hes going from seisures (i dont know if i speeles that right) to being insain

    to being sain

and he seizes realy bad whene the snare drum hits
