90% of all of you on here are complete pricks! A cool car is a cool car. Who gives a shit about the country of origin. I would love to have an Aston or an F1, but I can't afford one, so I have a 1993 Mustang with quite a few mods. Who cares! It is not as glamorous or noteworthy, but it looks nice and is fast. I perfer the sound of a v8, but that's just me. You shouldn't have to worry about getting slammed for personal taste. Quit being so damned arrogant!
That is definitely one of the most beautiful sounding engines ever. I think it sounded its best in the SD1 twin plenum though, especially with a performance exhaust. I have literally never heard an engine I prefer the sound of.
Tait011: Just to clarify the origins of the V8: the Rover V8 was originally designed and manufactured by Buick (as the Buick 215 V8) but it was not particularly successful in the US market and GM sold the rights and tooling to Rover in 1965. Rover (and others) developed the motor further although many believe the US version was best.
@wjwmorrow Absolutely correct, apparently a visitor from Rover saw one while visiting Buick, running in a boat because it was "too small for a car". The original must have been an amazing design, it was used in some forms until around 2000 in TVRs, Range Rovers etc. I doubt very much that the original was "the best" though with all the changes that were made over the decades...
@G7ennx ...Buick produced 376,799 cars with this engine in just three years. J. Bruce McWilliams (Rover American operations head) first saw the Buick V8 at the works of Mercury Marine in Jan '64
@ormswyn Interesting, I never realised that Buick had used it in cars, I read the thing about the boat maybe 20 years ago in one of my father's books (he is a Rover nut). I still find it kind of unlikely that the '60s engine was the 'best' though simply because of the developments that happened over the next 40 years. It is undoubtedly a fact that "many believe the US version was best" though because many people are patriotic americans :)
DO NOT READ! A little over 20years ago a 12 year old boy was playing with his basketball in the street on Acto Street, NJ. Some teenagers who were drag racing on motorcycles weren't paying attention and ran him over and killed him. it is said that if you go on Acto Street, turn off your car, and blink your headlights 3 times you will see the figure of him bouncing the ball. wrong..a corvette is pretty light but it is much more aerodynamic and has a much wider wheel base for more stability and handling. The mini would be able to corner faster but it would not be able to be steady at high speeds.
As an example of BHP/tonne > displacement, let's compare a car from my Country, the Ariel Atom to your chosen car. It's got a 2 liter supercharged 4 cylinder Honda engine producing 300 BHP. It weighs a tad under half a tonne, giving it 650 BHP/tonne. Your Corvette (assuming the Z06 model) has 505BHP on a 1,421 KG car, meaning 361BHP per tonne.
The Atom hits 60 in 2.9 seconds, 0.8 faster than the 'Vette.
The Atom goes from 0 to 100 to 0 in 10.88, only 3 and a half seconds slower than the Z06 gets to 100, never mind stopping again.BTW - the Atom can hit 100 in 6.86 seconds. That's one less than the Z06.
I should also add (in the Z06's defence) the Atom does only have a top speed of 155MPH.
By the way, Ariel have also squeezed 500BHP from a 2.4l V8, which they'll drop into the Atom soon so watch for even lower numbers soon.

Not quite - the 10.88 was from 0 to 100 and back to 0. In other words, a lot more than the 0 to 100 which takes the car 6.86.
There are 3 engines available on the Atom in the UK (USA is different because of silly emissions laws), a 200BHP normally aspirated Honda, a 300BHP supercharged Honda, and a 500BHP 2.4L supercharged custom built V8. The 500 model has a different suspension and aerodynamic setup to cope. BTW the numbes I gave were for the 300 BHP model.
Yeah it's fast, but really lol. It's a tube chassis with and engine, that means very little crash protection, and no rain driving. It might be street legal but that doesn't mean it's a daily driver by any means, maybe for summertime messing around but most of the time it will sit in the garage
I'm not gonna deny that, but at no point was the Corvette supported on the basis of it being comfortable. Apparently a small, lightweight car with twice the power/weight but half the power is worse in terms of performance than a car with the opposite specs. An argument which I believe that the Ariel Atom, Lotus Exige, Ascari A10 and numerous other lightweight cars all prove.
I'd tolerate the rain though. I'd be there with aviator goggles over my eyes and a massive grin on my face.
RIGHT!!! I'VE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!!! AND CANNOT FIND THIS BLOODY MINI!!! WHAT PROGRAM IS IT!!! THE FRENCH IS RETARDED AND ONLY TALKS ABOUT MONEY!!! I WANNA KNOW WHO BUILT IT!!!!!!!!

oh shut up. bloody americans and their v8's. the only reason you think they are superior is cos they have a larger displacement than other v8's. try getting the same amount of handling from your fat arsed american cast iron boat anchors.
Dude don't forget other american engines that has less displacement and a lot of power and depends on the weight of the car. Plus you don't see any european motor on drag races. And also italian motors is not a good comparison next time refer german. ;) stay cool
alright Ferrari... $130,000 corvette... $60,000 if i can save $100,000 do i really care how efficient the motor is at making power? also repair costs for a Ferrari are ridiculous I'm sure a corvette can just be fixed by Mr Goodwrench.
Oh, come on. A Ferrari v8 is a high-strung, whiny, pmsing bitch. It has shit for torque, compared to an LS7, and is lazy till about 5 grand. An LS7 is like fire, from idle to 7000+rpm.
Except the ferrari engine needs shitloads of maintinence and is unsuitable for daily use... The Corvette doesn't cost more to maintain than a normal car, is actually reliable, and can be modified.
Also ferrari engines sound like vauxhall corsas with beancan exhausts.
@MrTokeit 523hp are you fucking high no car had that power in 69 and the z 28 was a 302 it was a 5.0 to road race in the uk 340hp tops one hp for CI was a big deal back in the day. 523hp realy? nice number drop
@CasualA Are you delusional? The Vette holds the nurburgring record! Not only that but in America, we have a thing called Drag Racing, which has a huge following thus a MASSIVE aftermarket parts segment making the Corvette as fast as you want. I am not putting down Ferrari either, it's an awesome car manufacturer, but overpriced in my opinion. Give me a ZR1 and i'd be happy! :))
@MrRobGT Shut up! The ENGLISH Radical SR8 holds the record for the fastest production car and the Pagani Zonda for Non Series. The Porsche 956 has the fastest racing and qualifying laps. You can make just about any car as fast as you like. Drag racing is purely muscle but you can intelligently tune a car to beat a muscle car.... which is why no American car I have ever driven can go round corners especially a Corvette!!! I currently drive an Audi R8 and have had a Z06 Vette...
@NIKFANTASTIC grow up. We have the Ford GT, and the fastest production car is Bugatti Veyron. SR8? The 363hp car?? I hope your joking. Intelligently tune a car to beat a muscle car? No, tuners don't beat muscle. There's NO replacement for displacement. Period. Until you can do 1320ft. in 4.4@335mph, I dont care... US builds cars that are for US to race in which we do stop light to stop light, or on a highway. 800rwhp boosted LSX engines are not uncommon for the street, we get to modify our own.
@MrRobGT You're too busy not reading what anyone else says. The Corvette does NOT hold ANY record for Nurburgring as per my original response. Any fool can put their foot down for a 1/4 mile on a straight road!
@NIKFANTASTIC Oh yeah, let me see your Vette! Please. I want a pic, that says MrRobGT is a "use your own put down" on a note pad, posted INSIDE the vette. It better be IN a garage, at a house. No saturday cruise pics, curbside BS or anything that suggest you paid some vette owners gas to take an odd pic while he laughs at you.
@MrRobGT Once again you are so caught up in your own ego that you haven't read anything properly! I suggest you re-read my original reply to all your penis=envy bullshit!
@codemaster667 You need to try a camaro or mustang. Mini cooper is not fun, trust me. By the way, an 85 Z28 will pull .92G on the skid pad, stock. add a 400hp 350, and it's GOBS of GRINS!
It's like saying: oh I'd really like a Lamborghini Diablo.
I live in Europe, there are a lot of small curvy roads here, in the US there are not. A Mini Cooper is made for the roads of Europe, not those of the US, that's why there are US muscle cars. All you do with them is pull up in a straight line. Have you ever even driven a Mini Cooper on a European countryside road?
@codemaster667 Wow I didnt think the Europeans made so many blanket statements.... America has TONS of curvy back roads, they are called Farm To Market or FM then a number.. so a curvy road could say FM620. The only roads that are straight here are the interstates. I understand supporting your Mini, I wouldnt expect any less! The only road I have driven on outside the US (besides Mexico)is in Grand Cayman Island. Bottom line, in the US, you need at least 450hp to play, since stock is around 400
@MrRobGT well, your curvy back roads are nothing compaired to ours, It's a different world y'know.
But where I live, if your cars weighs only 750 kg, 90 hp is more than enough.
to drive on the highway, about 120-140 HP is minimum.
But I'm telling you, if you drive a Mini Cooper like you should drive it, it's a lot of fun.
But don't inderestimate the power of some sportscars here. for example, something else that's a lot of fun, the lotus 7 or caterham 7. you don't need 450 hp to have fun :)
@codemaster667 you dont understand anything I have said. ?:( Having fun )something I can do on a go kart, and being competitive are 2 different things... oh well.
You only need 90HP, a tight suspension and a hell of a steering responsiveness to have loads of fun. And it makes a good noise too. Some sound a bit like an old Porsche.
@codemaster667 Yes, I see that.... This isnt an A vs B comparison here... Going fast or "hot rodding" is just that, no matter how you do it. If I lived in England, I would drive an old Ford Capri, with a 302 swap. Something like that.
I don't give two shits about how fast or expensive your Ferrari is, at the end of the day it's just a pony show, The vette gets you there fast and lookin good.
@naturalyshocked First off, it is a Z06, not c06, rainman. Who can afford to throw away a 60,000 dollar car? The quickest cars on the planet use good old American v8 power plants. And finally, learn how to spell before you get all smug and condescending. cadilac?
@naturalyshocked Greetings dipshit, you are an idiot. The fastest cars on the planet go 330mph + and do the 1/4 mile in 4 seconds. What the hell do you have that would rival that, you stupid inbred! We wrote the book on power and speed. By the way, lets see what you drive, then we'll see if you have room to talk, ballbreath!
@naturalyshocked I am not standing up for the Vette' anyway. There are alot of cars I would choose over that. I'm just saying it is a better deal from a monetary standpoint. More bang for the buck. A Nissan GTR is a way better bang for the buck than any Ferrari or Lambo. Pull your head out of your butt man!
@rouschno1 Freak, europeans broke the 400km/h+ barrier(a record even unbroken by the bugatti and almost 70 years ago) in 1938 and it was considered boring.
and formula 1 was born.you don't know anything about racing and i'm sure you never rode 150m/h for hours and hours non stop un public.
drag racing is no sport. real racers don't have beer belly's
i have a Audi A8 4.2 TDI and it's faster than anything you drive.
my wife's car is 60hp diesel and it sure is faster in topspeed than a caprice v8.
@naturalyshocked Obviously you hate America, and thats your business. I don't know why it is so important to you to trash anyone who thinks and interprets things differently. This is a great country and I am glad to live here with all of our freedoms. I play guitar, and the best quality around are the USA built guitars. We have alot of pride in what we build and invent. As far as your Audi vs. my Ford, I would blow you away. Corners and straight. I am sure yours is alot nicer though. Peace
@naturalyshocked First off, I am 40, secondly the man who built my car, was a crew cheif for a TransAm team. There is nothing stock on my car except the ignition. 347 stoker w stage 3 ported and polished heads & matching intake, 48 lb injectors, roll cage, suspension work, a built 5 speed tranny, etc etc etc. I don't know where you heard that stuff, but giving veggies away is not a crime, and the patriot act does not have a direct affect on 99% of us. As far as the joint goes....you got me there.
@taz275, mclaren F1, caparo T1, Ascari A10, TVR speed 12, Jaguar XJ220, see i can do that too. shall i do something else too. the TV, the jet engine, cats eyes, cement, depth charges, scuba gear, electric motors, fax machine, gas mask, INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, light bulbs, trains, pennicilin, polyester, periodic table, radar, rubber bands, steel, sewing machines, seismograph, umbrella, vaccum cleaner, viagra, the internet, waterproof fabric, etc, all british inventions. so bite me!
@antonyaiken You know, its funny, we have the straight line records with Top Fuel, we have Bonneville Top Speed, so there's another record, and NOW with the Vette, we own the record at Nurburgring, which is common proving ground for all manufacturers world wide. Your bickering is really useless... like we say to the other team when we are winning at a football game "Whats the scoreboard say????" Now, for something more intelligent... Have you seen our road race tracks....laguna, lime rock etc..?
@MrRobGT yes i have. and the rest are circles. round and round. something you americans can understand turn left, turn left whats next? turn LEFT. the corvette might be very fast arround a track. but does it have the build quality of a ferrari? or an aston martin? no. its built like every other GM car. Cheaply. live rear axles, leaf springs, flimsy interior plastics, some people actually want to be seen in their cars when they are driving them, not hang their heads in shame.
@antonyaiken You're wasting your time with that idiot! He wants to put a big bit of engine into a big dirty car that chugs loudly and drinks fuel to go really quickly in a straight line for either a quarter or half mile! He doesn't understand the concept of corners and anyone who calls him out is wrong!!!
Idiot? Your calling me an idiot because im from America and prefer American cars? Yes you call me an idiot on the internet and that in itself is nothing but your speculation. FYI we do all types of racing. I see the records set at the ring, no the Vette isnt the quickest. I understand American cars have always had quality issues, and to be honest it's mostly been GM! Dodge and Ford usually dont have the "cheap" plastics issues. Bottom line, on the street, a 1/4 mi car wins 9/10 ..
@MrRobGT for the record, before anyone asks me, i drive a slightly modified toyota mr2, 2.0 naturally aspirated 3sge engine. 190bhp, 2800lbs. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. 150 mph top speed and japanese reliability. 155,000 miles without a single brake down. handling to rival any of todays sports cars.... and it cost me £800 (thats about $2000) but when a corvette here is $90,000 (about £40,000) thats a bargain of epic proportions.
@MrRobGT I drive a Range Rover Sport and an Audi R8 V10 which replaced my old R8 in August. I had a 'Vette and it cornered like a drunk whore with her panties round her ankles. I couldn't give a flying fuck if you believe me or not - it makes no difference to my life! :)
I think you need to read what you DID write before.... I was setting you straight about the records at the Nuburgring..... you keep changing the goalposts son!
@antonyaiken I agree, NASCAR is not great racing. More of a soap opera of speed. It got its start from moonshiners making hotrods to outrun the police then switched to "top gun" status. You really have no idea what American cars are! They are made to be modified, independently! Personalized! By the purchaser! Most of Americas(best) cars that beat Ferarri's are made in someone garage via aftermarket support. Thats the idea. No NON DIYer can ever understand the fun, pride and seriousness of that.
@MrRobGT in england, 99%T of the best inventions were made at the bottom of the garden in somones shed. the car maker TVR was untill recently made in a shed in the midlands. the modified car scene in the uk is massive. but we like the challenge of getting 1000bhp from a mitsubishi evo or like sumo power, be the first tuners in the world to get 800bhp out of the new nissan gtr. we do get the "tuned in my garage" idea. but why promote a car as better because its faster? its not all about speed.
@antonyaiken I am tired of arguing with someone who just wants to be right, I could care less what the UK does, im in America, we dont even import any of your cars. Come to think about it, DO YOU even make any???
@MrRobGT firstly it is "Couldn't care less". not could care less. if you could care less then you couldn't care more. secondly, how many Aston Martins' has America got? they are all made here. land rover and range rover too. oh and bare in mind that the pinnacle of motor sports technology and internal combustion technology F1, is based in the uk. 75% of the teams are from here and employ nearly entirely British engineers. why do you suppose that is?
but will it blend?

Oh, come on. A Ferrari v8 is a high-strung, whiny, pmsing bitch. It has shit for torque, compared to an LS7, and is lazy till about 5 grand. An LS7 is like fire, from idle to 7000+rpm.
madtownmadman 3 years ago
torque peaks on the ferrai at around 48-5600.the LS9 makes power from 3800-6500.peak torque is acheived at 6500.then it drops off.

Except the ferrari engine needs shitloads of maintinence and is unsuitable for daily use... The Corvette doesn't cost more to maintain than a normal car, is actually reliable, and can be modified.
Also ferrari engines sound like vauxhall corsas with beancan exhausts.

MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT Shut up! The ENGLISH Radical SR8 holds the record for the fastest production car and the Pagani Zonda for Non Series. The Porsche 956 has the fastest racing and qualifying laps. You can make just about any car as fast as you like. Drag racing is purely muscle but you can intelligently tune a car to beat a muscle car.... which is why no American car I have ever driven can go round corners especially a Corvette!!! I currently drive an Audi R8 and have had a Z06 Vette...
NIKFANTASTIC 1 year ago
@NIKFANTASTIC grow up. We have the Ford GT, and the fastest production car is Bugatti Veyron. SR8? The 363hp car?? I hope your joking. Intelligently tune a car to beat a muscle car? No, tuners don't beat muscle. There's NO replacement for displacement. Period. Until you can do 1320ft. in 4.4@335mph, I dont care... US builds cars that are for US to race in which we do stop light to stop light, or on a highway. 800rwhp boosted LSX engines are not uncommon for the street, we get to modify our own.
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT You're too busy not reading what anyone else says. The Corvette does NOT hold ANY record for Nurburgring as per my original response. Any fool can put their foot down for a 1/4 mile on a straight road!
NIKFANTASTIC 1 year ago
@MrRobGT I would say the Veyron is a TUNER!! Good lad!!! It also goes around corners!
NIKFANTASTIC 1 year ago
@NIKFANTASTIC Oh yeah, let me see your Vette! Please. I want a pic, that says MrRobGT is a "use your own put down" on a note pad, posted INSIDE the vette. It better be IN a garage, at a house. No saturday cruise pics, curbside BS or anything that suggest you paid some vette owners gas to take an odd pic while he laughs at you.

@MrRobGT
You know, those are all very lovely cars, but I could never afford even keeping them in my garage.
All I want is a classic Mini Cooper S.
Most fun I've had so far...
codemaster667 1 year ago
@codemaster667 You need to try a camaro or mustang. Mini cooper is not fun, trust me. By the way, an 85 Z28 will pull .92G on the skid pad, stock. add a 400hp 350, and it's GOBS of GRINS!
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT
I just said I could never afford having one...
Have you ever even driven a Mini Cooper on a European countryside road?
codemaster667 1 year ago
@codemaster667 Wow I didnt think the Europeans made so many blanket statements.... America has TONS of curvy back roads, they are called Farm To Market or FM then a number.. so a curvy road could say FM620. The only roads that are straight here are the interstates. I understand supporting your Mini, I wouldnt expect any less! The only road I have driven on outside the US (besides Mexico)is in Grand Cayman Island. Bottom line, in the US, you need at least 450hp to play, since stock is around 400
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT well, your curvy back roads are nothing compaired to ours, It's a different world y'know.
But where I live, if your cars weighs only 750 kg, 90 hp is more than enough.
to drive on the highway, about 120-140 HP is minimum.
But I'm telling you, if you drive a Mini Cooper like you should drive it, it's a lot of fun.
But don't inderestimate the power of some sportscars here. for example, something else that's a lot of fun, the lotus 7 or caterham 7. you don't need 450 hp to have fun :)
codemaster667 1 year ago
@codemaster667 you dont understand anything I have said. ?:( Having fun )something I can do on a go kart, and being competitive are 2 different things... oh well.
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT
You only need 90HP, a tight suspension and a hell of a steering responsiveness to have loads of fun. And it makes a good noise too. Some sound a bit like an old Porsche.
codemaster667 1 year ago
@codemaster667 Yes, I see that.... This isnt an A vs B comparison here... Going fast or "hot rodding" is just that, no matter how you do it. If I lived in England, I would drive an old Ford Capri, with a 302 swap. Something like that.

man, you don't rebuilt a corvette, just trow it a away and a buy a new car.
only the c06 and zr1 are somewhat respacteble cars, but all other are just like any mas produced car, worthless.
the only orginal turbo ferrari is the f40, all others are NA from maranelo.
@ 10.000 km you have your first maintenance in a ferrari, just like any other car.
pushrod sucks, it doesn't sell, even the european importer (kroymans) went bankrupt, less than 1000 cadilac sold in 10 years.
naturalyshocked 1 year ago
@naturalyshocked First off, it is a Z06, not c06, rainman. Who can afford to throw away a 60,000 dollar car? The quickest cars on the planet use good old American v8 power plants. And finally, learn how to spell before you get all smug and condescending. cadilac?

pushrods sucks.
remove the super charger from a zr1 and my opel goes faster with les than 50% of the engine.
DREAMER, the caprice V8 is slower than a my 60hp diesel power car.
you guys live in never ending dream and think you build the fastest car on earth, but that's not true.
moi is a mechanic and i thoughed pretty much everything. even V12
naturalyshocked 1 year ago
@naturalyshocked Greetings dipshit, you are an idiot. The fastest cars on the planet go 330mph + and do the 1/4 mile in 4 seconds. What the hell do you have that would rival that, you stupid inbred! We wrote the book on power and speed. By the way, lets see what you drive, then we'll see if you have room to talk, ballbreath!
rouschno1 1 year ago
@rouschno1 anyhow, a corvette is nothing special, a plastic car.
i wouldn't even spit on it, even if it does 500km/h.
it's equal worth like anyother car that leaves the showroom.
once the crossed the showroom line, the car is worth 20% less, even with 10 miles on the watch.
corvette sell in USA only, it's less than worthless everywhere else.
naturalyshocked 1 year ago
@naturalyshocked I am not standing up for the Vette' anyway. There are alot of cars I would choose over that. I'm just saying it is a better deal from a monetary standpoint. More bang for the buck. A Nissan GTR is a way better bang for the buck than any Ferrari or Lambo. Pull your head out of your butt man!
rouschno1 1 year ago
@rouschno1 Freak, europeans broke the 400km/h+ barrier(a record even unbroken by the bugatti and almost 70 years ago) in 1938 and it was considered boring.
and formula 1 was born.you don't know anything about racing and i'm sure you never rode 150m/h for hours and hours non stop un public.
drag racing is no sport. real racers don't have beer belly's
i have a Audi A8 4.2 TDI and it's faster than anything you drive.
my wife's car is 60hp diesel and it sure is faster in topspeed than a caprice v8.

by 2050 is in 200% in dept
this proves american quality, in short there is no quality, it's all outsourced in china and india(microsoft)

Peace
rouschno1 1 year ago
@rouschno1 dream on, boy.
there is no way you would beat a 4x4 in a corner with a live axled powered car.
i rock corners everyday with a speeds far exceeding the US speedlimit and short radius corners.
i'm a mechanic
: )
you don't have any freedom, remember the patrot act?
it's illegal to plant vegtables and give to family members.
the NSA has more employees than the KGB ever had.
i can smoke a joint next to a police officer, try that in the US and it's jailtime for sure, depending you looks.
naturalyshocked 1 year ago
@naturalyshocked First off, I am 40, secondly the man who built my car, was a crew cheif for a TransAm team. There is nothing stock on my car except the ignition. 347 stoker w stage 3 ported and polished heads & matching intake, 48 lb injectors, roll cage, suspension work, a built 5 speed tranny, etc etc etc. I don't know where you heard that stuff, but giving veggies away is not a crime, and the patriot act does not have a direct affect on 99% of us. As far as the joint goes....you got me there.
rouschno1 1 year ago
@rouschno1 it doesn't matter, audi quatro will always be around the corner faster and it does rock solid and safe.
: )
have 4 separate links on each of the wheels on the front supsention, better than any car in the car world.
all that work for nothing, i can do 155m/h on certain public road for hours.
mine is built for it, your's will brake down, without any doupt @ such speeds.
even if you're faster a bit, you need stop sooner, pushrods don't sell, because exessive fuel abuse.

MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT yes i have. and the rest are circles. round and round. something you americans can understand turn left, turn left whats next? turn LEFT. the corvette might be very fast arround a track. but does it have the build quality of a ferrari? or an aston martin? no. its built like every other GM car. Cheaply. live rear axles, leaf springs, flimsy interior plastics, some people actually want to be seen in their cars when they are driving them, not hang their heads in shame.
antonyaiken 1 year ago
@antonyaiken You're wasting your time with that idiot! He wants to put a big bit of engine into a big dirty car that chugs loudly and drinks fuel to go really quickly in a straight line for either a quarter or half mile! @NIKFANTASTIC
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@NIKFANTASTIC I forgot to add, what DO you drive?? While your busy putting down American cars this would be helpful for everyone to know.
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT for the record, before anyone asks me, i drive a slightly modified toyota mr2, 2.0 naturally aspirated 3sge engine. 190bhp, 2800lbs. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. 150 mph top speed and japanese reliability. 155,000 miles without a single brake down. handling to rival any of todays sports cars.... and it cost me £800 (thats about $2000) but when a corvette here is $90,000 (about £40,000) thats a bargain of epic proportions.
antonyaiken 1 year ago 2
@MrRobGT I drive a Range Rover Sport and an Audi R8 V10 which replaced my old R8 in August. I had a 'Vette and it cornered like a drunk whore with her panties round her ankles. I couldn't give a flying fuck if you believe me or not - it makes no difference to my life! :)
I think you need to read what you DID write before.... I was setting you straight about the records at the Nuburgring..... you keep changing the goalposts son!
NIKFANTASTIC 1 year ago
@antonyaiken I agree, NASCAR is not great racing. More of a soap opera of speed. It got its start from moonshiners making hotrods to outrun the police then switched to "top gun" status. You really have no idea what American cars are! They are made to be modified, independently! Personalized! By the purchaser! Most of Americas(best) cars that beat Ferarri's are made in someone garage via aftermarket support. Thats the idea. No NON DIYer can ever understand the fun, pride and seriousness of that.
MrRobGT 1 year ago 2
@MrRobGT in england, 99%T of the best inventions were made at the bottom of the garden in somones shed. the car maker TVR was untill recently made in a shed in the midlands. the modified car scene in the uk is massive. but we like the challenge of getting 1000bhp from a mitsubishi evo or like sumo power, be the first tuners in the world to get 800bhp out of the new nissan gtr. we do get the "tuned in my garage" idea. but why promote a car as better because its faster? its not all about speed.
antonyaiken 1 year ago
@antonyaiken I am tired of arguing with someone who just wants to be right, I could care less what the UK does, im in America, we dont even import any of your cars. Come to think about it, DO YOU even make any???
MrRobGT 1 year ago
@MrRobGT firstly it is "Couldn't care less". not could care less. if you could care less then you couldn't care more. secondly, how many Aston Martins' has America got? they are all made here. land rover and range rover too. oh and bare in mind that the pinnacle of motor sports technology and internal combustion technology F1, is based in the uk. 75% of the teams are from here and employ nearly entirely British engineers. why do you suppose that is?
