  • You are right on the money with that one. I've been complaining about it for years, in fact I don't even go to the Mucky Duck anymore because the crowd there always ruins the show.

I've gone to Ireland three times now though, and found that it's just the same over there. Brilliant musicians that you can't even hear over all the drunken talk. It's sad.

  • The piping is very good, the crowd is quite discourteous.

  • ej first class whats the names of the tunes.excpt silver spear

  • faen . . . at folk ikke kan holde kjeft når noen spiller??? Låten er drittbra,-men i engelsktalende land har publikum ikke vett til å lukke kjeften når det spilles!

  • Thanks for the video EJ. Can't wait to get the smallpipes. Btw, nice selection of tunes.

  • ...and then it turns to shite at 2:26

  • EJ is a wonderfu piper, he lives fairly close to me and

he's supposed to help me with some tuning tips.

  • From what I understood, that was a set he was making for a customer, and in the the process of tuning out. I could be mixing up sets of pipes tho.

The name of the middle tune is The Silver Spear, btw.

  • It's funny that it doesnt look like he is playing a set of his smallpipes...

  • Scottish smallpipes can be either bellows blown or mouth blown.

  • EJ is a great dude... He made my smallpipes.

He is a very talented player too.

I would guess this is an older video?

  • Not really, just a couple of months old (note the date in the title). That's Al Cofrin playing on the right, he's in the new Clandestine with EJ.

  • Yep, you are right! EJ says it's called Jack Daniels, it's his understanding that it was written by John Morris Rankin. He learned it from the band Tannahill Weavers and the fiddle player Rosie Shipley. It's on Tannahill's album "Capernaum".

Now I wish I asked him for the name of the first two tunes cause I don't know what the middle tune is, but I'm not bugging him again! The last one I know as 'Jenny Dang the Weaver'.

  • I used to play at that session, but it's been a few years..I didn't recognize either of the first two tunes as "regulars"..but EJ always was good about bringing different and great sounding stuff when he came.

  • EJ (the piper) usually knows the names of all the tunes he plays, though...

  • Great stuff! What's the name of the first hornpipe?

  • Wish I knew, and there's little point in asking the performing musicians they usually don't know either, lol.
