  • Can you freeze a pencil?

  • it looks like a yellow eye ............

  • Freeze nitro glycerin.

  • @MrKeenius Thank you, no.

  • what would happen if you put oobleck into liquid nitrogen?

  • what would happen if you put a gummi bear in liquid nitrogen?

  • spray cream into liquid nitrogen. whats it like? (mention my name)

  • @colgatepony234 Wanna Be.

  • lool 'didn't change it's... eggness' XD

  • that looked kinda gross, cool, but gross. Thanks for doing that experiment.

  • You should put different kinds of fruit and vegtables in liquid nitrogen.

  • put ome choclate sauce

  • @JeffersonLab Next i think you should put bacon a hot dog and a choclate bar

  • @YourNintendoNewsNow thats not nice but it was funny

  • cool

  • The last joke was one of the lame but really funny to fake laugh so i hit the LIKE button, and the subscribe on too!

  • @JeffersonLab ignore YourNintendoNewsNow, i liked this. but what i would like to see is probably something amazing: SUPER BALLS! what i mean is not those 3 dollar ones at the stores, i mean those fancy ones that can defy gravity, if they are invented yet. if they aren't, stick frozen luquid nitrogen in a fire and see what happens :)

  • @JeffersonLab you love luquid nitrogen. don't you? by the way, ignore the top comment. I liked it because of the experiment you thought of. by the way, it's LUKE's lightsaber this time ; ) i think this is really cool. right now, we are studying luquid cells and other things involving many cell related stuff :/ but anyway's, nice experiment. science is not about the why. its about the why not. but anyways, i would like to see you put a happy meal in luquid nitrogen! it could be really interesting

  • baking soda + vinigar (or however you spell it) + liquid nitrogen + any kind of fruit (very juicy ones!) + Sierra Mist Natural lemon-lime soda ! (or club soda) idk how that will do, but I want to see how they will mix , I'm just curious and I want to see if it will blow up, or if it even does ! plz try this !!! plzz !!

  • @JeffersonLab ok thanks! By the way, I have a request: could you freeze some dispensable soap? That would be egg-cellent : [) thanks

  • HD PLEASE!!!

  • @JeffersonLab what would happen if you mixed something hot like lava for instance with liquid nitrogen? Would it freeze due to lack of oxygen? I know oxygen is part of the fire triangle and it wouldn't light without it, and as lava is partly fire, would it extinguish and turn to stone? Thanks :)

  • @deadlife1243 Lava isn't partly fire. It's just molten rock. Removing oxygen won't freeze lava. Reducing its temperature will. So, if you were to pour enough liquid nitrogen onto lava, the lava would freeze.

  • @deadlife1243 I figured as much, but it was still fun to dream. I knew that as far as making industrial diamonds they'd be rather small, since they're made for the fact they boast a cutting hardness unmatched by most other matter hence such things as diamond edged cutting blades and such. Was just wondering, since they can just about perfect the pressure and heat needed to form the diamond, if they couldn't apply the same precision to a large amount of carbon and get a babies-fist sized jewel.

  • can you try and freeze bread or toast?

  • Egg-cellent.

  • I have a request A bar of soap :} Oh and oobleck

  • What would it taste like?

  • @MissTurquoise7 The egg? Like uncooked egg. Cooling the egg didn't change it's... eggness.

  • @JeffersonLab Lol!

  • This is how scientist separate the good yokes from the bad eggs!

  • i hope your next eggsperiment will eggsplode, or else, whats the point:)

  • This is how the Cavemen cooked their Dinosaur eggs.

  • @koreanboy89 During the Ice Age?

  • @JeffersonLab Indeed.

  • Okay... So what does nitrogen taste like?

  • @SilxBlaze Stick your tongue out into the air. That's what nitrogen tastes like.

  • @JeffersonLab how do you know?

  • @TheDarkFeraligatr Because the air is 78% nitrogen.

  • How did you guys remove the shell, just with handgloves or with something more??

  • @MrKiosko Gloves and a knife. It was like whittling a rock. Took about 20 minutes.

  • i heard a story about this man who went in liquid nitrogain to see if he would live longer i think he died tho

  • @gallopingcrazy i think it was oxygen

  • the real question is o.o the egg can still be eaten right? and if so will it taste different or the same as if you've never put it in liquid nitrogen

  • @AngelOfDeath11011 It could be eaten and should taste the same. I'd recommend cooking it, though.

  • eww

  • that was 8 seconds

  • what does liquid nitrogen smell like?

  • @taleof2cities It smells just like regular nitrogen.

  • if you freeze a chicken with liquid nitrogen will it lay frozen eggs

  • @debunker1905 It won't lay anything. It'll be dead.

  • @JeffersonLab put an electronic in nitrogen or something

  • That was horrible.

  • Reverse it!

  • freeze whip creame.... a suggestion..

  • really bad pun

  • And that ladies and gentleman, is the less messier way of separating an egg white from a yolk.

  • Do the egg in vinegar thing! I did it its fun! respond to this comment if you're gonna do it!

    COLD CUTS! NO BALONEY!

  • can u do one about a football or baseball

  • hahaha egg-speriment XD so corny

  • they freeze eggs in lab lol

  • Can you eat it though?

  • @circa2O11 Sure... You'd be better off cooking it first, though.

  • @JeffersonLab can you drink liquid nitrogen i'm not going to try it just wondering

  • @MrLionmaster12 The liquid nitrogen won't stop you from drinking it. But, just because you can drink it, doesn't mean that it's a good idea to drink it. You can drink raw sewage, too, if you like. It's not a great idea to do so, though.

  • thanks

  • @MrLionmaster12 think freezer burn.......in your throat, and stomach, and mouth and everything else, like, frost bite extreme, blackened limbs that are so damn dead they aren't even rotten they're just petrified...thats about what would happen if you drank liquid nitrogen. oh, and probably suffocate since liquid nitrogen, if i remember right is nitrogen cooled and compressed into its condensed version, i.e. liquid.

  • @circa2O11 Unless you want salmonella I suggest you cook it.

  • Can you please freeze a sushi?

  • What happens when you introduce meat into liquid nitrogen?

  • Would be awesome

  • But some food in liquid nitrogen that w

  • Wait, WHO SUGGESTED THIS!?

  • @Spazman100 'maxey83112' did. I forget which video they left their comment in, though.

  • Why don't you guys try dropping a gummy bear in liquid nitrogen??? I'd love to see whay happens!!!

  • eww. Thats a little gross

  • eggsperiment :D funny girl!

  • @south1621 (just trying to show off something I learned today) Diamonds don't melt or burn. They simply evaporate at

3500C. Just thought I'd let people know

  • @mediumrarethesable Even better, diamonds aren't thermodynamically stable at room temperature and pressure. They very, very slowly convert to graphite.

  • @JeffersonLab So would it be possible to convert graphite to diamonds with enhanced pressure?

  • @WiseCheezyCheez Sure. Industrial grade diamonds are manufactured all the time.

  • @JeffersonLab question, since you mentioned it, are industry grade diamonds of a similiar quality as jewelry grade, for such things as gem cutting and such? Asking because i'd love to be able to chuckle and laugh and say to a jewelry seller "that 10 carat diamond from a mine in Tanzania you're shilling for 2k(or more) could be outclassed for half as much by something made with a machine and a handful of pure carbon byproduct."

  • @phoenixrisinghigh Most natural diamonds aren't suitable for jewelry and end up being used in industrial applications anyway. I doubt the manufactured ones have a higher 'success' rate, considering that making gemstones isn't the goal. I also think that manufactured diamonds tend to be on the small side.

  • can you freeze alcohol because i hear it cant freeze

  • @JJBoii2297 It'll freeze.

  • Well if it is in your freezer at home it will not freeze correct. Im not sure if it will freeze or not under extremely cold temperatures.

  • can you set diamonds on fire in liquid Nitrogen

  • @south1621 Nope.

  • Can you try to set frozen nitrogen on fire? :D I think it would be nice to watch

  • @JefforsonLab I just wanted a yes or no

  • Eggcelent!

  • @JefforsonLab the person who's posting the comments from the uploader is it the guy in the video

  • @basketballrobot96 It doesn't really matter who it is, does it? After all, we don't know who you are, either.

  • Can you try to freeze mercury like in thermometers It would be cool to watch please 

    

  • @Skigirl138 We'd never get an experiment involving mercury approved by our Safety Division.

  • >baloney

  • @kenneth2951 balogna

  • @wampaAWESOMEsauce It depends on whether you're talking about the lunch meat (bologna) or nonsense (baloney).

  • @JeffersonLab lol i guess youre right

  • a cd its cool haha

  • can you power a device with a battery that is frozen in liquid nitrogen?

  • @ThePickledsoul Unless it's specifically designed to do so, it's highly doubtful.

  • That was a quick reply! Thanks!

  • Is it possible to condense the nitrogen in the air and turn it into a liquid?

  • @gettingwarmer Yes. That's basically how liquid nitrogen is made.

  • i wish we did more experiments in my science class.

  • Put a barbie doll in it?

  • ... Milk?

  • You should get mix for ice cream and make it unfrozen and freeze it and eat ir

  • @datdogg90 See our video called "How to Make Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream."

  • Best sciense show since mythbusters. Even better than portal. Well almost better than portal

  • why not try an onion?

  • do one on gummy bears or gummy worms please

  • is it edible?

  • @THEREMIXproductions Sure. It's still a raw egg, though. But, it'll still cook-up real nice.

  • How about freezing jello?

  • What was that eggspi, ohhhh now i get it...

  • ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • @colinm1998 What's so bad about it? It's a bit interesting, but it takes long, so what's the 'ewwww' for?

  • Try freezing applesauce!

  • Hey why dont you try a wii on liquid nitrogen not to be mean to nintendo

  • what if u put a basket ball in liquid nitrogen?

  • Put auger in liquid nitrogen

  • Put a dr pepper in ome

  • try putting a can of a fizzy drink into liquid nitrojen

  • I wanna see a mango because of the bone in the middle what will happen to that please try that

  • Ewwww

  • Maybe you can try a chocolate bar or even a piggy bank in liquid nitrogen? 👍

  • Try to freez an apple, i wanna see that!!!

  • Eggsperiment

  • When its cooling, the egg is in contact with a liquid, which is much denser and has more atoms to remove the heat. When it's thawing, it's in gas, which is much less dense. Also the temperature difference between liquid nitrogen and the egg is much higher than the difference between the frozen egg and the air.

  • @Nomoreidsleft You basically have it with your first segment. You are incorrect about the temperature difference, though. The egg went from room temperature to 77 K and then from 77 K back to room temperature.

  • @JeffersonLab Thanks. Yes, I think the difference between gas and liquid is the main reason, but I don't think the egg will reach the actual temperature of the liquid nitrogen. Have you actually measured the temperature of the egg after being dunked?

  • @Nomoreidsleft No, it got there. But even if it didn't, it isn't relevant since the temperature change the egg is undergoing is the same for a given cycle. Hot to cold then cold to hot. Doesn't matter if 'cold' equals the temperature of liquid nitrogen or 50 degrees warmer than liquid nitrogen. The egg still cools down and then warms up by the same amount for that cycle.

  • Is it possible to freeze diamonds with liquid nitrogene?

If it is possible, would it be possible to break it?

  • @derPeddern Diamonds are already frozen and it's already possible to break them.

  • what would happen if you put a bulb in liquid nitrogen

  • Baseball in liquid nitrogen

  • Why don't you try it with a full can of juice? That'd be interesting, if the soft drink freezes before the can collapses in on itself then what happens? Would the carbon dioxide in the drink change anything?

  • @Ryanmac97 Actually I think that the can would explode, the juice would freeze and expand normally like water would, since the pressure would increase dramatically the can will not be able to hold that much pressure and explode, thats why people have to pump out the water from their sprinklers during winter.

  • Hey guys one day can you freeze a flower (rose) in liquid nitrogen

  • @FruitCookies2103 We have. See "Liquid Nitrogen Experiments: The Carnation" or the beginning part of "Liquid Nitrogen Show!"

  • dude these guys have the best videos!

  • eggxperiment. Really? REALLY? I'm outta here..

  • How About NItrogen and PAPER??????? would it work????hhhmmmmpppp-_¬?

  • hello. love your videos, but i would like to know what happens if you freeze a lego man in nitrogen. thank you

  • What would happen if you used marshmallows instead on an egg?

  • what happens f you drop paper or waxed paper into liquid nitrogen?

  • @jet528559 Paper doesn't do much. It cracks a bit, but nothing spectacular. I've never tried waxed paper, though...

  • @JeffersonLab did you try freezing bugs? or any living creature and admire it?

  • @jet528559 No. We're not mean like that.

  • How does it look when a flower is dropped in Liquid Nitrogen? I would like to see that.

  • @shaft870 See our video called "Liquid Nitrogen Experiments: The Carnation".

  • @JeffersonLab Amazing, thanks!

  • The original question posed online with frozen then peeled egg is this.

What happens when frozen peeled egg is dropped in boiling water?

  • Three good things all in one :)

that was cool but that pun was totally uncalled for

  • @OrangeHatKidd You're calling fowl on the egg pun? What, you though we'd be too chicken to go there? Or too scrambled to think of it?

  • @JeffersonLab That comeback was Egg-Celent!

  • @OrangeHatKidd Thanks! You're quite the pun egg-spert yourself!

  • In one of my classes at school we are begging to study the atoms of the ocean, or just water atoms in general. I was searching threw you tube of stuff like this and I have to say I love yours!

  • @ainmelover321 Thanks!

  • hey this is happening to my head because of a skin thing on the side of my face

  • Try magnets in liquid nitrogen, and try to combine them after

  • Specific latent heat of fusion?

  • @candidbreeze95 No, since that applies to the egg freezing as well as the egg melting. It's the same energy cost.

  • here is another idea for you.. try the experiment that science bob did, inflating a balloon with carbon dioxide alone using clear vinegar in a bottle, and baking soda in the balloon, then stretch the balloon on the top, when pouring in the baking soda it would produce carbon dioxide by chemical reaction, and inflate the balloon, then place this in LN2, see what happens..

  • You guys should put a rubber ducky in liquid nitrogen!

  • @89celena HA! That'd be awesome!!

  • @JeffersonLab I know right?! I have an obsession for rubber duckies (yeah, dont ask) and it would be really cool to see one in the liquid nitrogen!

  • Awsome guys keep posting

  • can you fix a leaky pipe with liquid nitrogin

  • @zachst001001 You can stop the pipe from leaking by using liquid nitrogen to freeze the water in the pipe. This doesn't really fix the pipe, though, since it'll just start to leak again once the water thaws out.

Incidentally, this is one use of liquid nitrogen. If a welder needs to cut a pipe that can't be isolated with a valve, liquid nitrogen is used to make a temporary ice plug in the pipe.
