@ojoj626 As far as I can tell, the lanyard is a safety disconnect connected to a kill switch similar to a safety key on some outboard motors. If the kid falls or otherwise separates from the bike, the lanyard breaks away, engaging a kill switch that shuts the motor down.

In the US, yes. Probably the weirdest case of law misappropriation I ever heard of. They're concerned the kids could eat the lead from the batteries... they can't keep that up much longer (I hope), it's several notches too ridiculous.

@mxbdave Yes, also here in the UAE they are banning these because some stupid Arab kids ride on the street between cars poping wheelies with no helmets, they are banning them probably, they should only be restricted to deserts and not immature kids.
