I understand how to make a scale, but I have to work it out on the fretooard, I can't instantly play it without figuring the steps. Is it better to memorize as many chords as possible instead, as I don't see how one can memorize all of the scales on the fretboard.
having to work it out on the fretboard first is fine as long as u understand the scale pattern, it takes alot of time for people to insantly know where to go for any scale u will get to that level with alot of time and practice dont worry about it but btw its definitely not easier to memorize every chord thats impossible theres so many chords dont worry about it
I am trying to learn guitar, but I am having trouble memorizing all of the notes on the fretboard. People tell me there are patterns but that doesn't help when I try to instantly find a note, I have to find the string, and count down the steps to find the notes. I can't memorize all of the scales, either, and find a note on the fretboard within a particular scale. I am amazed others can do this.
dude ill tell u what i told the other guy its fine if u have to find a string and count down the steps, in time you'll just know where to go and where it is instantly but with scales dont try to memorize them all just memorize two or three but use those for backup when u try to find scales using the scale patterns
all in all dont memorize the tons of scales just remember the two scale patterns its alot easier
ok... my thing is i got the a minor scale and the blues part added to it.... but i want to know like how move up and down but keep that same bluesy feeling, you kno what i mean??
just started playin the guitar and new to music. very helpful as i didnt understand how chords were made up and people were talkin about roots, 3rds and 5ths and i didnt have a clue wot they were talking about till now....cheers
@iVideosongs Hi ! Can you tell me if yours fingers tips sometime hurts (or if it's mildly painful) ? cause I noticed that your fingernails are short in your left hand (I have eaten my nails to, and they seems like yours....). Sorry for my crappy english....
am i the only one that noticed he's using his middle finger on both the A note on 3rd string and C# on the 2nd string to form the A chord? o_0

I'm in no way a beginner on guitar but this video was great. I'm self taught so to find out how all the chords are made up is a good thing to know.

Even though I know all of this stuff, its still a great lesson for beginners. Good job!
