Ball' was never a copy of Bird. Where he played on the beat, his articulation, and his lines were totally different from the beginning. Sonny Stitt played different than Bird too but was always getting "Bird Copy" label. Its just that people dont have the ears to know better. Iv'e carefully transcribed all three so I know Why is it that in this culture EVERYONE is a damn critic and has to compare everyone ? There are NO alto players today who even come close to these three and Jackymac.
Cannonball " Adderly in his early times was a copy of Bird. He has got a stunnining technique, but Parker is another stuff. In the late times of hi career, he is much more original, so I very appreciate " Cannonball ". Thak you for the post. All other musicians are true stars.
