I didn’t know the title and I didn’t know the lyrics when someone mentioned that song a long time ago. I just thought, “Well, that’s creepy and honestly, who the hell are you?” Then they were like, “No, no, that’s the song from The Breakfast Club.” And I thought, “Oh, that makes sense.” Yes, they were able to read my mind.
i love how the breakfast club is a self important cut down version of a three hour script vith a very predictable storyline, starring five teen actors and yet it's actually really good.
im a kid and i have seen the breakfast club!my favorite part was when the bully told that emillio eastivez guy:"what?,did you forget to wash your jock."i wish they still made good movies like that.i have probaly seen every 80's movie there is.the brat pack will forever rule.and whoever hates the brat pack i will kill you and your family.(not really).but still i think they should bring back movies like that.and same thing with the music.now its all about these freakin retards .please sub

So I watched the Breakfast Club yesterday because I saw your video and I have to say that I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great concept, great actors (I watched St. Elmo's Fire afterwards because I liked them so much) and just a good story. Thank you for talking about it.
I have those kind of comfort movies, too. I've only seen a select few Hughes movies, but from what I've seen (obviously, The Breakfast Club included), I love his work. I'm hungry to see more now!
**Check out our new short film THE BUTCHER, inspired by true events.**
i shall watch them all!!my friend just went on holiday and we have decided whens she's back we are going to have a classic movie fest!! John Hews all the way!!
he totally defined a generation. whenever i was ever watching tv and flipping around for something to watch a ferris was on i'd ALWAYS watch no matter how far along it was or if i had just watched it the day before. it never disappoints and it always is a good time.
i totally understand about having them "with you".
Oh, K80, I love watching your videos, even when you're rambling on about how you were friends with movies and you put them on just to be with them, that's about all I got out of this video besides the fact that Osama Bin Laden has watched Breakfast club. XD
I was never into his teen movies, because well I was 21 when Breakfast Club came out (I'm more of a Fast Times at Ridgemont High, kind of guy), but I think that Vacation is one of the funniest movies ever.
And did you think for a second I'd care about doing the mature thing anyways? Get real: We all are a bunch of aliases here. This is YouTube, we're ageless -- so is our judgment.
What's with kids these days trying to look like they're ahead of their time: "Oh, I'm just 15 but I sincerely appreciate older stuff"? Wow! We're like, totally impressed!
I never realized it but one of my favorite childhood movies "Baby's day out" is written and produced by John Hughes! ITs really impressive to just look at his body of work. It really does make you look at the movies of today and how most of them are just awful compared to his, on their own, they would be ok but up against a hughes movie its just... rawr is a nice word
I loved loved LOVEDDDDDDDDD Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald in this movie.
This was one of my highlights as a child, as well as Ferris Bueller's. I grew up in the 90's, but those two movies were so amazing. I wasn't AS in love with them, but they were so good. It never got old.
My favourite movie is Kill Bill one and two. I know, weird choice, but I play them ALL THE TIME. I know almost every line of Kill Bill 1 & 2.
I just hope that none of those movies will ever be attacked by any of those remake producers who would like to "bring them to a new generation", especially now that he is no longer among us. Indeed, She's having a baby is not the typical romantic comedy and i feel even more privileged totay to have been one of the happy few to watch it at the movie theatre back then (at least twice). It is still a good discovery in 2009. Personnaly i have to rediscover The Breakfast Club even if i like it too.
Katie, I've dated half of the breaktfast club! I've dated the Jock (a football QB), the princess (he's now batting for the other team, eep!!!), the Psycho (he was a wizard and wanted to break in to the Vataian and steal their gold or something..it's long and complicated). So now I have to date the criminal and the brain. But not the principal. ....Or the janitor... eep!
breakfast club is amazing but i have to say i dont think it would be a big hit these days.. this genaration is warped into thinking that if a movie dosent have floating candles or exploding mountains... its not worth watching... sad.. but true... still ... fuck this genaration... its an amazing movie!!! wats jud nelson doing now anyway?
I am about 10-15 years older than the generation of the actors in his 80s movies, but I still saw them all and enjoyed them. Actually I'm about John Hughes' age, which is way too young to die.
I should go back and watch them again. I did have the hots for Judd Nelson. I see on imdb that he has been working steadily, but I haven't seen him in about 20 years.
I felt a pang when I heard John Hughes had died...which doesn't happen often with people you have never met. Definitely a testament to the impact his movies had on my childhood. Oh, and I think She's having a Baby is an AMAZING move that more people should see!!
I loved all the Hughes back in the day too - I loved She's Havin a Baby too! Some Kind of Wonderful and Pretty in Pink soooo goooood. Hughes is really the only redeeming feature of those bizarre 80s, K80. Man I sure have been Pogo's bitch - can't believe I missed this channel,... you guys have already talked about so many movies I liked.
I love how crazy but still real all the characters are. Real problems. The least realistic character was the teacher :) and even he was pretty damn good.
It's really only in high school that such extremes are forced together.
the breakfast club is a classic. john hughes is one of the greatest filmakers ever. he will truly be missed. i got depressed wen i heard he was dead. all his movies were great.
I really wish I could've been around in the 80's when all of these movies came out! I absolutely love them now, and even though i get teased by my friends sometimes for being such a fan of a lot of John Hughes' films, it's their loss! these movies really are AMAZING.
his movies are a requirement in life. I like how you hit on the fact in took place basically in one room, one area. I love when a movie can pull that off because you know its well written and cast.
I saw this film in the theater when it came out. Was in my last year of high school and went with a bunch of my friends. I think we had all experienced detention at least once at that point, so we had plenty to talk about after we walked out of the theater.
Right off the bat I wanna tell ya that you can not be anymore right about these movies and this Great Film maker. These were Movies I watched back then and would always recommend if asked. That era of Movie making is gone, and will never be the same.
as for the daily review channel you are working on, I have to give you props, this episode is by far the best one I have seen yet. Keep rockin'
Would you consider John Hughes movies to be a modern version of Shakespeare in that these movies are like and in themselves always going to be able to be used to identify with such as Shakespeare plays?
the ironic thing is that the breakfast club was to a certain extent your comfority and it is my anti-conformity. even as a young kid i would watch this movie instead of bambi and barny, etc. and not because no one around me did. i watched this movie because i loved it. i still love it. i even have a poster of it in my room. you said it better than i did. this movie just fucking rocks!
The Breakfast Club has ALWAYS been my favorite movie. I watched this movie when it first came on HBO back in 1985...I was 7. Didn't get half of what they were saying, but I enjoyed it. Being 31 now, I realize how real this movie is. I could relate to every character in the movie. This movie is not only funny, but it's touching. All of John Hughes films have that...Uncle Buck, She's Having A Baby, Home Alone...etc. I was very sad when passed. Best director! Felt like a part of me died.
this is one of our many commonalities Katie...I think John Huhes lines are in my fucking dna. I love you always and forever. Hug Simon. I'm off "awesome" chemo. Only you...only you would call chemo awesome! If I ever feel like offing myself, I'm going to listen to that voicemail. It makes my heart soar and so does your face.
He'll keep calling me, he'll keep calling me until I come over. He'll make me feel guilty. This is uh... This is ridiculous, ok I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go, I'll go. What - I'LL GO. Shit.
AND I was so hardcore in love with Anthony Michael Hall in the Breakfast Club. He was my dream man. "I'm in physis club, the phyics club" Ugh. KIlls me.
Great Vlog Katie, im gunna watch the breakfast club now!!i gota crawl out from my rock first haha!
i love planes trains and Automobiles and Uncle Buck is my all time favorite movie, i love good place movies and i know exactly what you mean about having these films in the background, they just make you feel happy and because we've seen them so many times you could almost not even look at TV and picture every scene for every line lol!!
I feel the same way about Planes, Trains, and Automobiles especially, but many John Hughes' others too. I turn them on and go surf the internet, play video games, or even read a book with them in the back. I didn't realize how many of his DVD's I had until I looked last week! Such an amazing body of work.
BTW, your crazy quilt on the wall looks a lot like a bedspread I picked up at the Bakersfield Target about 5 months ago.... I dunno why I just noticed that, it's in almost all your videos!
I did the same thing Katie...just put them on to have them on...I'm still that way today...whenever any one of those movies comes on tv I instantly stop what I'm doing and watch.
Over and over and over...I never get sick of them.
When I first saw it in the 6th grade (6 years ago) I felt so victimised because I hadn't watched the film in it's entierty. I also regretted not being born in the 80's, but I don't know if cynicism was in those days...
John Hughes was genius.

AMAZING FILM!
When I first saw it in the 6th grade (6 years ago) I felt so victimised because I hadn't watched the film in it's entierty. I also regretted not being born in the 80's, but I don't know if cynicism was in those days...
