Saw TMLD in Detroit at St. Andrews Hall and in East Lansing at a bar I can't recall in 1990ish with the Ocean Blue as openers. Great band live. This is a great post. Thanks.
1991, was lured into a horrific one night stand with the promise to watch live"MDL" vids, Were there any at the time?... Where the hell were you!LOL! Thanks for posting, much love.
Nice post. Loved this band, played my copy of the cassette till it wore out and then bought another. Great band and great sound. Most overlooked bands of the late '80's
Loved the Lemon Drops!!! I played the shit out of my Happy Head cassette when I was a senior in high school. This was the soundtrack for my Spring Break in Daytona Beach---everyone else was listening to White Lion and David Lee Roth. Big-time Chameleons UK influence in this band--Teardrop Explodes, Echo...Thanks for posting and bringing back the memories!
Same here dude!!! Went to the 12 Hours of Sebring race and then to Daytona. Remember crusing the strip palying this, X and The Cure. I think X was the most out there stuff for the sheeple and their hair metal crap.
Not fair to say these guys echoed echo, simply because they did there own thing to less acclaim than echo received. While love mac, these lads were tight. up the lemon drops!
Saw them supporting the Mission in Cornwall sometime in the 80's. I was that pretentious wanka that went to a gig just to see the support band. I felt vindicated as the mission were shite.
Well said. The straight forward sound, the aesthetic, and sensibilities of these guys really exemplify your statement. I always loved new wave and this band in particular.
I remember when this came out on MTV and I immediately went out to buy this album on cassette and when I got home I played it over and over again. It stills sounds great today.
I keep wanting to yank that stray hair off his head!

What a nice memory of sounds the way I loved them during those days of being a young surfer with no cares for nothing.

Superb post!
I used to listen to these in my art class at school, and the ice cream van outside belted it out of his van on occasions.
Cheers!!!

I remember hanging with the best friends ever imagined: Brian Eno, Robb Rugg (I was his effing best man), Bob-o (wailed on 1 beer)

You can definitely see the Echo influence. I saw these guys with Love and Rockets back in '87. Great show all around.

"New wave" rock was so fucking cool. Need another "new wave" soon because rock sucks these days.
