Polar bear population has actually increased in the areas where the water has "warmed", and according to when scientists believe that polar bears evolved, the temperatures were actually 5-7 degrees warmer and they lived just fine. HOWEVER, the green house gas levels are higher now than they have been in over six hundred thousand years. We've had five ice ages in that amount of time. If every man-made source of CO2 stopped this instant the earth would still be warming for about 200 years.
@Lathox But CO2 has diminishing returns as a greenhouse gas. The more there is in the air the less effect new CO2 has. As global temperatures go down the oceans absorb more CO2, and with the higher CO2 levels we will see higher plant growth rates which will convert the CO2 into oxygen at a faster rate, plus with warmer temperatures more areas of the world will be better suited for supporting plant life. Essentially the problem will solve itself well before 200 years.
There is a problem with your logic. Firstly global temperatures are not going down, they are rising. Secondly plant life is not able to replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere at a suitable rate because of mass deforestation. Third the warming temperatures will release frozen vegetation and when it decays it will exuburate the problem.
Many polar bears did starve to death, and run out of habitat, because after we stopped hunting them, their populations exploded above what the region could support.
And unfortunately the "enviromentalists" wouldn't open up hunting again, so the over population was dealt with the natural way, by starvation.
So just remember when you think of a drowning polar bear, think of enviromentalists who caused it to happen in first place.

Two whether the world warms or cools this doesn't directly matter because polar bears live in a specific region of the world. If polar bears can't survive natural fluctuations then they are a failed species.

I hate to be the bad guy here and ruin friendoftheearth's moment... but this is just a scam to get your money (notice the donate box). Read any research by an actual scientist i suggest Christopher Monckton, (who has never lost a climate change debate). Polar bear population has actually increased in the areas where the water has "warmed", and according to when scientists believe that polar bears evolved, the temperatures were actually 5-7 degrees warmer and they lived just fine. Read the facts.

In the 70s, scientists said the US (including Florida) would be covered in ice by the mid 1990s. . . Climatologists were saying it, scientists on the nightly news were saying it, and they were showing us charts and graphs in biology class that "proved" it. . . . Back then, anyone who didn't believe that the US would be covered in ice by the 90s, was told that they "didn't understand science"

And yes, the climate cycled is controlled by the sun. This further shows your ignorance. The CO2 damages the atmosphere, not the sun. The atmosphere makes the sun's rays survivable and creates the weather patterns we have been used to for decades.

Which is why it doesn't matter that CO2 is a molecule. K? At most it explains how sun light may change the air. But again, very little part.

Did you know in the 70s "scientist agree" that the Earth was going into a new ice-age due to carbon emissions? HOWEVER, the green house gas levels are higher now than they have been in over six hundred thousand years. We've had five ice ages in that amount of time. If every man-made source of CO2 stopped this instant the earth would still be warming for about 200 years.

@Lathox But CO2 has diminishing returns as a greenhouse gas. The more there is in the air the less effect new CO2 has. As global temperatures go down the oceans absorb more CO2, and with the higher CO2 levels we will see higher plant growth rates which will convert the CO2 into oxygen at a faster rate, plus with warmer temperatures more areas of the world will be better suited for supporting plant life. Essentially the problem will solve itself well before 200 years.

There is a problem with your logic. Firstly global temperatures are not going down, they are rising. Secondly plant life is not able to replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere at a suitable rate because of mass deforestation. Third the warming temperatures will release frozen vegetation and when it decays it will exuburate the problem.

Many polar bears did starve to death, and run out of habitat, because after we stopped hunting them, their populations exploded above what the region could support.
And unfortunately the "enviromentalists" wouldn't open up hunting again, so the over population was dealt with the natural way, by starvation.
So just remember when you think of a drowning polar bear, think of enviromentalists who caused it to happen in first place.

@Lathox Strong hunting limits have caused polar bear populations to increase not decrease over the last several decades. Two whether the world warms or cools this doesn't directly matter because polar bears live in a specific region of the world. Their region has due to shifts in wind patterns been warmer for a while, however the warming trend in the artic is reversing as wind patterns continue to shift. If polar bears can't survive natural fluctuations then they are a failed species.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations may now be near historic highs.

Hmm. Funny but insightful. What's so wrong about reducing GHGs and whatnot even if global warming isn't happening right this minute... Just gives us more time to start recovering. I hate hippy bullcrap just as much as the next person but I'd prefer not destroying where we live completely.

What's wrong with FOX? FOX is not leftist propaganda, which is a danger to the leftist status quo.
Independent studies and polls have found that FOX is more trustworthy than the leftist propaganda channels.
As for climate change, when a theory projects that temperatures will rise with altitude, but weather balloons show that temperatures decrease with altitude, then I go ahead and call that theory false.
You just believe it if it makes you feel more enlightened than those "dumb Americans".

Saying their is no global warming is like saying their is no gravity. It's amazing just how quickly the media sweeps people into a frenzy over something as simple as not being able to define "Trick", in a scientific sense.
There's not enough evidence to truly point at WHAT is causing global warming, however the temperature of the earth is rising. The media have been blowing it out of proportion, and are now blowing this "Climategate" bs out of proportion.

Every year from 2000 - 2007 were our top 7 warmest years in global temperatures. This information is pretty wide spread, so I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but I'ma have to ask for source buyit1950.

Global Warming IS a climate change. It's not as serious as many laymen make it out to be, but it is still happening, and we do not know the direct cause.
No I'm not an Al Gore worshipper, I think Al Gore is a moron. He screws with data, Outright lies on his results, and is simply pocketing MOST of the money he makes for "Going green".
Yes, Some people will make money off of it. The same could be said for anything though. That's not a reason to stop pursuing the truth.

Canada has an anual quota of polar bears to cull as there are too many. How many have died due to to global warming......none! The are used as propaganda because they are cute.

@buyit1950 My friend has two polar bears stuffed in his livingroom. His wife shot the big one. I don't like shooting bears. They sound too human when wounded. Deer and game birds never peep and are easier to clean.

you're probably not worried about that, but maybe when it starts to affect you.. extreme weather conditions, flooding and droughts, followed by famine... or the fish all die because of fresh water diluting the seawater.
