People now do not recognise what a strong goal-to-goal line the Lions fielded: Pert at fullback, Stephens at centre-half back, Armstrong in the centre, Roos at centre-half forward and Osborne at full-forward - plus Lynch in a pocket.

I've still got this on video tape too. Favorite Fitzroy match ever. Broderick and Armstrong, champions. Roos, champion. Ozzy, champion. Kappler, Pert, Stephens, Matera. What a team that was and yet we couldn't get the results we needed.
