It took way too long for me to appreciate Monch's verse on this - but I think he's stands out GREATLY on this track. That's saying a lot, because Kweli and Black Thought are murderous.
This and "Good to You" are the best records on this album, in my opinion.
Hope i dont offend any Lupe stans, but who on this song can't hang rhyme for rhyme w/Lupe? If dude came out in the early 90's he'd be just another MC. Shit AZ>>Lupe IMO...Dude supposed to save hip hop? I got more hope in Jon Connor, Reek Da Villain, Kendrick Lamar, JCole, etc... Lupe's new album is commercial garbage. I'm sure some stans will come after me for this.....
@TheCardsfan2 Lupe is ill, but yeah your right his last album was shit.. still think he's one of the best emcees out no doubt.. J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T definitely the future of hip-hop..
@MatthewHoustonMusic what's that mean? The Roots haven't made any good albums? Pharoe Monch hasn't made any good albums(Stress, the 2nd Organized Konfusion joint was bananas!!) AZ's Doe or Die is classic...Aziatic is pretty damn good too. And this Talib cd is classic in itself.LUpe aint the only MC makin hot albums. That's just what the media tells you
@TheCardsfan2 Don't be a sheeple and blame my opinion on the media. Fact remains, lupe bridged the gap for todays youth. Him, Cole and kendrick. If it wasnt for them, a lot of people MY AGE would have no idea about the golden age. Sadly. And this cd is dope for sure...but its not F&L....F&L is one of the best albums, content, flow, and beat choice wise. Beats are a huge part of a song..id know, im a producer lol.
@TheCardsfan2 Lu's wordplay is almost unmatched. But other than that you're right. I hope he comes back with F&L2. At his prime he kills K.dot, Cole and Connor though. Need to listen to Reek.
@MrCommenterguy not a new MC out that "kills" Jon Connor!!! His beats can be suspect at times, but lyrically he's never weak. Check out "Keep goin Reek" from Reek Da villain. THat's probably the hottest joint on that mixtape, he got more, but that one sticks out for me....
@TheCardsfan2 Hip Hop doesn't need to be saved, it didn't die it just went underground. There is more good hip hop today than there was in the 90's it's just not on the radio.
@cnoyes82 AZ, MOP, NAS, WU TANG, TALIB, MOS, ROOTS, ORGANIZED KONFUSION, OUTKAST, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL, BLACK SHEEP, NAUGHTY BY NATURE, SOULS OF MISCHIEF, PHARCHYDE, PUBLIC ENEMY , EPMD, MAIN SOURCE, MIC GERONIMO, BLACK MOOON,SMIF N WESSUN, HELTAH SKELTAH, LORDS OF THE UNDERGROUND, REDMAN, DEL, OC, BIG L, 2 PAC BIG PUN, BUSTA SOLO SHIT, DMX, JAY Z, FUGEES, LL, KANE, RAKIM (ALL PUT OUT SOLID SHIT IN THE 90'S) AND IM LEAVING OUT ABOUT 10-20 OTHER ARTIST!!!!. 90'S RULE
There are only 3 emcees on this song, but at the 1:24 mark Pharoe Monch says, "These 4 emcees came to get down. Who was the 4th emcee supposed to be? Common maybe?
Talib, one of the leaders of the conscience movement...Pharaohe with his complex flow...And Black Thought with his crazy dope lyrics...all of them just killed this track. And hey, I give it up to Kanye, he's one of the younger guys who I actually think has talent, and this is a sick beat... :)
one of yes best beats definitely, this shit is so hard

"Yo, I hit these emcees with the grip of death like I was a Vulcan
Ain't a lot of "ifs" an "ands", it's just straight talkin
It's hard to swallow at times, so take portions
Bitin off more than you can chew, create offense"
Black Thought is a fucking lyrical problem.

This beat sounds almost identical to the "Dark Fantasy" beat from Kanye's MBDTF. Looks like RZA was inspired by this when he created that beat.
