REM on RockPalast perform "Have you ever seen the rain?"

in June 2008, REM played a concert out at Jones Beach (NY). A pretty nasty storm delayed the opening of the show (it's an outdoor venue.) When REM finally did take the stage it was still raining cats and dogs. Care to guess what song they chose to open the show? ... hint - you're listening to it now. I love the fact that 20+ years later, the soul of the band hasnt changed a bit.

REM is amazing and all, but stipes voice and classic/southern rock doesn't mix.

To each his own. I was just always impressed by the catalog of covers REM assembled over the years. From CCR to the Velvet Underground, Television and The Troggs to Tommy James and the Shondells, their choice of covers revealed their roots and added to their richness. At least for me.
