For those firefighters out there, I noticed that some vehicle fire videos foam would be used in combination with water, I assumed this was to contain a fluid accelerant such as gas or diesel, but in this case only water is used even though the video showed what appears to be an uncontrolled vapor venting near the gas take. What is the criteria for needing foam?
some places don't have it ready for use, but it's an agent that's mixed with the water, some department, like fridely near me, use it all the time. fridely is trial running a biodegradable foam agent
<3 how @ 1:25, when one would assume that the line seen going behind the truck was opened, the fire gets bigger. Way to use the proper stream and not spread burning oil all over christendom.
It is simply the onward march of modern technology, dustcarts with their own refuse incineration facilities. Back to the drawing board there Sherlock lol
wow , we have a policy if we have a fire we are to eject the load it's easier for the fire dep. to extinguish and cheaper to pay for the cleanup than replacing a 450,000 truck !!! at least that what my employer says
@frntloader how do you eject a load exactly? all the hydraulics seems to point towards compressing the load. I figured a large hydraulic piston would tilt the whole bed once the waste is delivered to a sorting facility. Be interesting to know, thanks.
few days ago we got called out at 5am for a garbage truck on fire. We were pulling out of the station and we see the truck drive by. They put the fire out themselves. We were all disappointed(small call rate. We dont get much action)
it a heil you can tell by the tail gate amreps have a tail gate that ether has the metal bar like things or some of the tailgate is cut flat on the sides for instance the eliptical.
Why am I seeing so many garbage trucks on fire on YouTube?? Was it something in the trash or a defect in the truck? I'll bet it cost a couple of bucks to replace!
Darn, that thing went up quick. Sorry to see a truck like that burn up - I like the design of those FL units - no ribs on the side. That's gotta be a total loss..
2- John Bean HPF guns could put that out and still have water in the tank
