  • sony is bullshit ,,i bought my sony one year ago..now its broken..no parts to buy..should buy whole screen..so i discarded the lcd...bullshit bullshit

  • But wat I want to knw is...wat is d best type of TV should I buy for a room with smaller space?and wat size? It does make a difference right?

  • Thanks for d great explanation...I knw other companies are also great like Samsung but I will choose Sony coz all my other entertainment products are from Sony like PS3 and home theater system... And it's all Sony coz they are good quality ( proven with my older tv n stereos)

  • To Look really for cheap flat screens I'VE just found the PAGE OF THE PAGEST.. JUST BOUGHT THERE THE NEW SAMSUNG LED UE46 S9090 for unbelieveble 1500 USD!!!! on buyacheapflatscreentv. com

  • best explanation so far i have seen in the youtube about LED.Thanks

  • Right! Wonderful vid btw!

  • LED tv last longer then LCD tv right?

  • Can a Sony psp 3000 screen rival these LCD TVs? Which is better. I like my psp screen and am hoping these TVs are as good - or are they better?

  • Amazing work!

  • My tv is back lighted with flames! I just add some firewood and light a match.

  • i just Bought one :)

  • brilliant

  • This would be a nice video if it weren't so self promoting. I'm only looking to learn about how LCDs, LEDs, Plasmas, DLPs, and OLED's work without Sony showing how they think their color, brightness, sharpness and everything else is better than "conventional".

  • i used a magnifier, magnify the dots of a LCD panel and found out that the dots are made of "red, green and blue" just like older tv sets. yeah, and i think that if they use real LED(make it VERY small) instead of LED back-lighting, it will be VERY expensive.

  • are rgb backlit better than plasmas and how better are edge led than normal lcds?

  • Very informative... Clearly explaa

  • Toshiba For LIFE:D

  • Really instructive. I learned more than school - in physics lessons

  • Excellent clear explanation!! This is how all videos should be!! Congratulations!

But c'mon, can't they make LEDs smaller? this technology has been around for decades now, I'm sure it's possible, the one you show is a conventional all purpose 3mm LED, specific hi-tech aplication small "panel type" LEDs must exist, aren't the OLEDs screens the proof of this? This is just a marketing scheme to keep masses under control, making them buy continuosly while the next gener tech is already available.

  • @surferboy36O Thanks for your comments! You're right, of course, OLEDs are essentially "very small" LEDs... Unfortunately there's still a bit of an issue with the different "LEDs" aging at different rates - all lights get dimmer over time, but if one colour on a TV get dimmer quicker than another it shifts the overall screen colour. There's some tricks which can be used to compensate for this, but it makes the panel circuitry pretty complex (read: expensive!) so we're not quite there yet...

  • LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD LED TVs and LCD

  • and sony is better panel becouse... they pay you to say that. doh

  • So there is no "true" LED tv?

  • Nice video my friend. Been researching LED TV's myself and the only other video that has come close to helping was this top 10 list youtube[.]com/watch?v=-RMaFsqFWrM

  • sorry, i didn't get what "becklight" an OLED is using, can you ren by me thet agein?!!!

  • hêhé_ï_fÉêl_sØ_lONÉly_tOÐàÿ

  • beautiful!!!!

  • Led case are big, the diode itself is not that big at all. Oled tv's are proof that led can be used for panels. :)

  • So being a TV tech, I am looking for alternate uses for the many large Sony LCD tv's that are going bad just after warranty expires, Do you think if the bad screens were removed, they would make good grow lights? I really need to find a use for these because my basement is filling up. Thanks sony dude. I Love the Vizios btw they are kicking sony butt (samsung butt).

  • This videois very helpful if looking to by a new screen!!!

  • k ppl talk about rbgy and let me know i got a 1600 tv and wanna know lmfao aka sharp quttron

  • well demonstrated , LCD still needs many adjustments to finally find a market where it can be a good tv

  • thanks great video

  • 17 people are still using CRT

  • You should make a hour long video going into detail about each subject discussed there was so much information involved.

  • '

how about 4 color LEDs lights as AQUOS

  • How did he get in the TV?

  • I really learned a lot from this. Thanks for clearing up all the LED lies...

  • only Panasonic

  • Give me a CRT anyday!

  • the edge let tvs use less power and they dong get hot

  • what is size of that TV

  • @dipu94321 It's 46"

  • @sonylearntv what you think is better for gaming, watching movies sony 32ex500 or 32ex600

  • @sergiu239 Motionflow (on the EX500) is great for most movies (smoother picture) and quite a lot of gaming, but if you're a serious gamer you might want to turn if off as it does result in a slight picture delay. The EX600 is a good overall TV (LED edge lit for good contrast and low power consumption + a slim design) but doesn't feature Motionflow. If you're mainly getting it for movies and don't mind the bigger frame on the EX500, I'd go for that.

  • @sonylearntv thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @sonylearntv :P To much to learn lol I just want to know, what is THE perfect TV for a Playstation 3?

  • @4RatedM i want to know that to :)),have you found out something ?im thinking a sony 32ex600 led,or a samsung c5000....hmm..il see in the store wich is better

  • @sonylearntv Hello sir, excellent job here. so i got the 46ex720, now i'm pretty sure the only difference is the 3D on this tv from what your describing but, It says i have the motion flow 240. Is that so in 3D mode i still can get 120 each eye? ty sir again very good job...

  • @sonylearntv please how do i remove the Mura Effect fromthe Screen on my LED ?

    please answer me !

  • CCCCCLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • when it comes to gaming, watching movies and watching sport events you need a TV that has great quality and be able to play any game console as long as you want but when it comes to plasma TV's they dont last very long when your playing high quality games cause Plasma TV's get burning marks on screens and its a waist of money to buy Plasma TV's LCD's and LED TV's on the other hand have the quality to do anything they both entertain you get anything but Plasma TV's and thats the truth on TV's

  • Thank you for clarifying that "LED TVs" are simply "LED backlit LCD TVs". The labeling of the latter as the former is extremely confusing and misleading. I ended up getting the Sony Bravia EX6 / 40" and love it! (BTW, showing the size of an actual LED to illustrate that TVs being marketed as "LED TV" are not truly LED TVs was compelling. [Viewers should go to 5:54 in the video for this part of the discussion.]) To reiterate, this was extremely valuable information to me. Thanks!

  • OLED rules

  • Just like opening a Cisco book to learn about networking I came here to learn about LED Back-lit TV's, but instead just got a heaping load of steamy BS marketing for Sony.

  • so which is better? LCD, LED or OLED??

  • @nawab256 OLED is the best.. Currently the only size they make OLEDs in is only around 11" So all in all, an LED TV is the way to go.

  • @nawab256 LED lit LCD is The BEST on the markets right now. OLED is not available yet. However, you could buy one that's around 10-12 inches for 8,000$ lol.

  • which is better for ps3 gaming. (HD quality)

  • @TheSDavies93 Generally LED's are better if you are willing to pay the price, but a traditional backlit TV will do just fine. LED's work great when you work in a fairly dark environment where you will notice the difference between the black around your screen, and the black on the actual screen. Truthfully the best TV that you can buy is a OLED tv, but they are extremely expensive and are currently very small. I would recommend a LED-LCD display

  • @TheSDavies93 You probably want Plasma because it's response time on fast shooter games is 100%. LCD is slow unless it's a VERY expensive model with all the bells and whistles.

  • @cyberhmoob LED> Plasma

  • If you want to save time the most important part of this video is at 9:46

  • SERIOUSLY THANK YOUUUU FOR THE THOROUGH VIDEO! and just for the record..LSD never heard of it..if you're referring to the BULLSHIT MAN-made drug..NO FUCKING THANKS....Hemp is natural NO ONE in the planet's history has EVER died from Marijuana overdose alone, and has GREAT medicinal and industrial possibilities. LOOK UP "HEMPCRETE" in europe...there's your sign GOVERNMENT..yes..that's me flipping you the bird with the REAL american flag in my background! anyways. thanks for the video.cheers

  • LED is unnatural. There's gotta be a better way.

  • ok to all the haters ..... go buy a LED monitor then watch this video again then you will truly seen the difference... LCD does not do any of these VIDEOS justice at all .... LED is the future and LED is the way to go .... PEACE!

  • LSD kicks LED and LCD ass

  • So confused! No led = crappy picture?

  • @Nefus1988 You can get a good picture from non-LED LCD TVs but it's harder to offer features like dynamic backlight dimming (which offers good blacks). Increasingly manufactures are shifting to LED lit screens, and generally the top-of-the-range models are all LED lit anyway so the choice is becoming less difficult.

  • @sonylearntv if your so in to black levels, why not buy an Plasma?

  • @bluescan92 Sure, plasma used to achieve better black levels in a darkened room but they've always struggled with internal panel reflections which can make the image cloudy and washed out in lit rooms. Modern LCDs (especially those using dynamic LED backlighting) achieve both better brightness for lit rooms and great black levels in dark rooms.

  • @sonylearntv I see. Thanks :)

  • @sonylearntv

No, dynamic backlight dimming is simply a tech to catch up with plasma. If you think about it, every pixel of a plasma is its own dimming backlight. You can't compete with that. Edge lit led has no dimming potential worth anything, and only produces uneven backlights. Grid array led density depends on price, and you will never get 1:1 led to pixel numbers, so each led still lights a ton of pixels, and any dimming comes with compromises.

  • @omgwtfbbqstfu Totally agree with most of your points - and I highlighted many of them in my video. However, no display is perfect. The structure of a plasma means that some light is always trapped under the front surface, and that internal reflection means you can't isolate the light from single pixels anyway. It's pretty rare to ever have to light a single pixel alone anyway so I think you'd be surprised with how good (even edge-lit) dimming/scanning backlights are now.

  • Im going to buy a new tv, who is the best an LCD-3D or LED??

  • @EClgs5 Plasma:)

  • @cyberhmoob I'm not a huge fan of plasma, after a while the inverters on them start to buzz very loudly

  • @skyspydude1 Had mine for a long time now and no buzz. The pictures superb, just like being in Theater. My Bro in law has a LCD and already we noticed a few dead pixels & the screen does weird stuff when it's fast action like a group of dino's running across the screen. His is the new models too with backlit & all over 2k. Simply Plasma for me cause the fact Plasma is closer to the Theater in tone, correct fast action picture, & is cheaper by almost 1.4k.

  • 19´´led or 24´´lcd tv? which one i shoul buy ?

  • @MegaSuzukiboy I'd get the 19 because they have near perfect response time on fast motion pictures. 24 and up is a bit of a gamble. LCD is slow when it comes to fast action paced movies and as your screen size gets bigger it gets slower and slower till those fast parts become digital blur. Some blurs resemble digital break down and others just like a squished color spot. Hear they are improving on that but currently it hasn't been proven. I was just at the store the other day.

  • when is the XEL-2 going to be out?...

  • VERY NICE VID!

  • Reed Green and Blue #LOL

  • does the LED ever die? and does the picture get burnt into the tv ?

  • @sillyCODplaya1 LEDs (like any light source) do eventually die but it's typically after many tens- (or hundreds) of-thousands-of-hours so not something worth getting concerned about. An LED-backlit TV should give you many years of use.

LCD-based displays don't suffer from burn-in so work well for static as well as moving image display .

  • @sillyCODplaya1 any tv will fail for numerous reasons. all tv's have a backlight life rating of 10 years + now, so that is not a deciding factor regardless of the tech. there are plenty of other things that are likely to fail in such complex electronics before your backlight does.

  • Sony are the nuts I love them, please get rid of these fake koren brands Sony... nuff said :)

  • i went with the led for darker colors and brighter whites and blacks

  • can u explain what is dynamic light like this 16000:1 wtf is that<<< tell me cuz im getting a tv and i need to learn to buy the right one

  • @quangluu96 "Dynamic" contrast ratios are the norm now. Basically this measurement is completely with moving images (i.e. from one frame to the next). This can be more useful when you're measuring TV contrast obviously but just check it out in store to make sure the TV doesn't 'look' like it's constantly adjusting as this can be distracting.

  • @quangluu96 Don't solely look at the dynamic contrast ratio; it defines the contrast of a whites and blacks and doesn't say anything about actual colors (they test it by the difference in a room lit by a black screen to when it's on complete white). You need to look at actual contrast ratio (which is typically 1000:1), the gamut or color variances, etc.

  • is the sony nx700 full led or edge led ?

  • @visionfoxtrot Edge-LED on the NX-series models - that's how they achieve the thinness.

  • @sonylearntv thanks....but whats the difference between full and edge ? and what is better to have....im buying a tv this week but still havent decided in what..

  • who hoo PINK FLOYD 3:30

  • LOL I KNEW YOU WERE A KIWI!!! XD

    nice review thx!

  • GREAT VIDEO. I LOVE TO LEARN!

  • thanks!! now i now what is an LED TV

  • That's funny, that's the same bravia I was looking to buy after this review. Thanks.

  • Vizio the best all around.

  • I still think sharp aquos comes on top with all around picture quality.

  • Can you swap your ccfl for leds?

  • what is a ''lackwad kreestal''??? is he speaking english?

  • why do New Zealanders pronounce This with Thus?

  • @Aerodynamics011 Thus is a very formal word. Thus, my advice you should use it as well.

  • This could have been very informative. Sadly as NO known or recognized language is used in this clip, an unknown translator would be required. I'm suspecting that only the producers know what pronunciation free, vowel free, slurred, nasal dialect is employed. Perhaps it's time to reestablish Lend-Lease, and send "VOWELS," "PRONUNCIATION," & guides for oral, non-nasal, speech to no longer great Britain! It's time for Brits to grow spines and character, remember what Queen Victoria did for you!

  • there are smaller led on the market, arround 1 mm

  • hmm u might be able to make one if you just used them running right off the circuit. idk how to describe it, but they do not have that big of metal, and the plastic shell. they are actually very small.

  • u can see the pixels without the microscope

  • music reason

  • Buy sony, forget the rest

  • that is one BIG ASS T.V..

  • @brizzlestick no its not

  • I got a question on LCD laptop panels, for Dell specifically, I repaired one with parts collected from others, the back lamp had gone out, now with a replacement, the angle is just not right, but worse, it tends to freeze and glow whiter and whiter, with strands of red bars horizontally, I cannot find a remedy for this, but the inverter perhaps??

  • which is good for the game LED or LCD ????????

  • lets say imma go buy a full HD TV, dont the channels of the TV need to be HD to to acctually see the good quality?

  • @DestroyXXL Yes, most in the USA have ATSC converters for the signals built in, my set had stereo speakers and VGA for computers, so it was the selling factor along with price, The LCD and LED terms are used confusingly even now, I just was looking at Best Buy here and getting that info from the salesman, however, all the sets deliver good viewing with some adjustments on your material source inputs

  • THANK YOU so much for clearing this up for me.

I bought a Samsung LED TV and was gutted when i read on the back (after purchase) that it was an lcd tv.

It was very expensive and comparing it to my old lcd tv, not worth it.

Do yourself a favor and wait for led backlight tvs go down in price!

  • Very informative. Thanks

  • You made me wipe my LCD, looked like there was dirt on it

  • thans mate that helps me alot

  • pluuuu

  • I love my LCD TV, it has great quality. But it isn't Sony, lulz! Sony doesn't always make best everything, only some stuff.

  • @JamesWorldStudios Sony, The one and Only, remember the Trinitron TVs? They were the best, but others caught up and TV was the major stumbling block quality wise. Mitsubishi was the first with 40 inch CRT tubes

  • @JamesWorldStudios Actually, SONY hasn't made one crappy thing since I've been buying them. I went from Home Decks, Car Audio, SPeakers, to TV's and boy never had one disappointing model. In fact a few times I doubted SOny and returned them jsut to find out what I had was the best standard and went back for it AGAIN. LoL.

  • @cyberhmoob The old PS2 (not slim) broke down on me, was very disappointing for me. PS3 bluray was not working (probably cause the lens was dirty) wasn't sure so I sent it in for it to be fix, and no problems after. But didn't switch to xbox, kept buying PlayStation due to my favourite games on it, but I have had disappointments with Sony.

  • Very educational video, thanks :]

  • Excellent presentation, I was just wondering about the difference between having a 50Hz vs a 100Hz LCD tv and whether it makes a huge difference?

  • @ghoneim : As far as I am concerned. 50 Hz tv refreshes the screen 50 times a second or what ever their frequency is and 100Hz tv does it 100 times. so when u r playing games and a movie numbering at end, 100 hz tv produces a much smooth look and feel.

Good to go for a 100Hz or 200Hz tv, rather than 50Hz.

  • @gagonline2003 Thats why Plasma is better it does 600 hz and that makes big difference when watching action films and also makes big difference watching 3D films on a 3D TV.

  • umm.... what about OLED's?

  • But now led are smaller with surface mount technology and continue to improve in term of size. Real led may be small enough in the future to make 100" tvs and over.

  • HD tv is still the best

  • Thank you .... Actually you are helpful and intelligent

  • So what you are saying is that LED tv's are a con? There just LCD? Uummmm

  • Comment removed

  • very helpful thank you

  • why don't ppl get why led's are better lol....blacks are blacker...whites are whiter...picture is sharper(after calibration)...there's "hundreds" of little led lights apposed to a florescent bulb...it saves energy and looks as good as a plasma...is not even that much more than a lcd...soon wen OLED' s come out the price will drop for lcd/leds...pictures as good as a plasma and versatile like a lcd. if u plan on gaming get a led if u play for hours.

  • @egotrippen216bw Blacks can't be darker since they changed only the backlight. You're enthusiast about this.I work with printed media.Digital needs another decade to produce quality, optimistic speaking.A plasma is more than sufficient for home. Also mature technology is better almost always.I don't think led is that good.

  • @Olengher yes plasmas look more natural and accurate...but i was saying leds look better than lcds. the lighting makes a huge difference in the contrast ratio. leds have contrast ratios in the millions while lcds have it in the tens of thousands. so blacks will be blacker on leds...and the last time i was in the market for a tv, plasmas lacked the vga inputs for computer, which i use my tv for on a regular basis...for solely watching movies and tv i wud definately buy a plasma...

  • great video

  • LED's are cheap so there is no excuse why its more expensive.

  • Thanks for this video, it helped me clear up some confusion.

  • When are the 3-D TVs coming out?

Is it true it's bad for your eyes?

  • @Ivanov11590 they've been out for a while now lol...if ur talking about true 3d tvs u'll be waiting a decade or so..

  • sony, sony, sony,,,,there not the best now ,samsung are the best now

  • @cactuskid007 ...well you will really need to convince me that samsung is better. SONY is the BEST brand when it comes to TV's and the image can not compare to samsung at all!!!

  • @mpichardo any review will tell u samsung is better...sonys arent the best theyre just over priced and stuffed with useless software..samsungs usually have a higher contrast ratio and a higher bit processor than sony.

  • @egotrippen216bw Samsungs blacks are like white uneven clouds terrible I just returned a Samsung 7000 series because of this flaw.

  • Which is better, a Sony TV 55" with no LED-Backlight for $1700 or a 52" Sony TV with LED-Backlight for $1980? there both 120Hz

  • what size TV is that?

  • Excellent and comprehensive explanation. I didn't realise LEDs were that big. He said that motions is not an issue anymore on LCD TV this is simply not true. Fast motion is abysmal. I watched a bird dive then swoop up leaving blurry double images on a new sony LCD.

I will not be buying an LCD TV until they have sorted this problem. If computer games producers tried to sell consoles and software which left double images and blurs all over the screen they would go bankrupt.

  • wow nice presentation you got there. we sure learned a lot. the information was given in such a way that the viewers can easily understand. more power! we also have our article and video reviews about led tv. feel free to visit our site :)

  • who invented the led tv?

i think its a romanian man in holland i saw in the news...

so why is it so much more expensive cuz it should be the same or even less cuz its only led's...

maybe the computer inside it to control each pixels?

  • Comment removed

  • someone recommend me a a good 46" backlit led tv please.

  • im sick of the LIES. there is no LED TV'S. there is LCD. the back of the tv's might be lite with LED lights.but the picture is still LCD. before they wre lite by led's they were lite by cold cathode fluorescent lamps! i did not heare them call the tv's CCFL'S! they called them by what u are seeing! LCD SCREEN! LED TV'S is still a LCD SCreen! IF THE Y HAD MICRo LED lights for the pixels u see, THAT would be a LED TV! best buy emplyes are the worst in NOT knowing this!

  • @vacationboyvideos

    Troll.

  • Idge TV?

  • im trying to buy a tv so i can play my PS3 on... which one should i buy... a regular LCD or a LED LCD tv?

  • so basically he is saying that LCD is the same as LED other than the fact that the lighting comes from different sources? :D

  • @NINOBROWN917 im sick of the LIES. there is no LED TV'S. there is LCD. the back of the tv's might be lite with LED lights.but the picture is still LCD. before they wre lite by led's they were lite by cold cathode fluorescent lamps! i did not heare them call the tv's CCFL'S! they called them by what u are seeing! LCD SCREEN! LED TV'S is still a LCD SCreen! IF THE Y HAD MICRo LED lights for the pixels u see, THAT would be a LED TV! best buy emplyes are the worst in NOT knowing this!

  • So which method of backlighting provides the longest life?

  • @dwg116 LED. They last longer and they wont break as easily during moviement of the tv like ccfl's will

  • so basically he is saying that LCD is the same as LED other than the fact that the lighting comes from different sources?

  • yep

  • wow! thank you very much...i thought i knew everything till i watched this :D

  • Hey this is really good!! It clear my head!!!

  • WOW that really helped thanks man, and im looking to see if you have anymore

  • no company would have start producing them in the first place instead of ccfl. It is like saying why didnt apple started the ipod with 160gb instead of (30gb?) or saying why didnt apple added the camera to the iphone in first place? Manufacturers will never produce something that last forever (or that it is a masterpiece) FOR SALE....

  • LED = Like Eating Donuts
