@Branden2732 The Atari 5200 was made to battle Colecovision, not the NES so there's really no comparison since Nintendo hadn't yet come out with their own game console yet. Now the Atari7800 was made to compete with the NES. The Atari2600 was to compete with Intellivision, the Atari5200 was made to compete with Colecovision, and the Atari7800 was made to compete with the NES.

Console gaming was an evolution. The NES was naturally the next step after the Colecovision. The Atari 2600 is actually 1970's technology. The 5200 would have done better if it were reverse compatible and played all the MILLIONS of 2600 games already in existence. By the time the 7800 came out, Atari was already on the road to nowhere, having lost credibility after the video game crash of 1983 and other blunders like this one.

They looks like nice versions of those games...but...some of those games were already played-out by many gamers at that point. I read it took a while before the system started getting exclusives, but by that point, it was too late. But nevertheless, I still want one of these over-sized consoles.
