The SP Wail was used often by the R4 ESU REPs (such as ESU 5573) as they merged onto the southbound Deegan where I grew up in the Bronx when I was a kid. I used to know when a pin job was in from that siren.

ya, its nice, we get it, but in your videos of this stuff, tou don't have to pulse the fuckin buttons, its annoying, no one goes down the road pulsing the manual button.

Actually here in NYC thats how we used to do it just pulse the shit out of the siren rather than selecting a single sound.

If you grew up anywhere in nyc, you would know that "pulsing" is all they did. NYMSTR is retired from the job, He will tell you that was the way it was done. It was actually pretty rare to hear wail or hilo out of an NYPD vehicle. They hardly ever used the other tones.

@SP99 Absolutely correct, we almost NEVER used anything but the pulse. You have to be from NYC or were on OTJ to understand this.

this siren was used in the entire NYPD fleet from 1982-1991. When the big body Caprices were introduced, they started using Federal Signal Smart Sirens.

New York Presbyterian are the only ones that i know of that are still using the mark7's. There could be a few more out there but I have not heard them.

In NYC, the New York Presbyterian-Cornell Hospital EMS units still use them, even on their new vehicles. I feel envious that my units use Federal Signal SA4000's, nothing like hearing one of those blast by you. lol

I agree. I like whelen out of all sirens. I have a SVP siren on my POV. I do like the yelp when you press that button down though. I remember those sirens as well.
