My first car was a 1986 Toyota Tercel DX. It was greyish-blue with four doors and the hatchback.
The engine was the 1.5L "3A-C" (88.6CID), and it had a 3 speed automatic transaxle...I think it was the A55.
Anyway, for being a Dodge fan, that car was pretty good! I especially loved how the engine was set up: longitudnally, with the intake and exhaust all on one side of the engine.
Ya know, I'm trying to figure out exactly all the words in this commercial - I speak a little French.
Plus! Plus! Plus! Pour cirque... _____________?
Avec un nouvelle Toyota Tercel edition limite mille-neuf-cent-quatre-vingt-six (1986). Deluxe interior, de la Michelin, roues speciales, ___ sportive! ___ Attention! Toyota Tercel edition limite ____ partir ____ tres bien! Qui pourrait et demandier plus! TOYOTA!
@Railer505 Pour ceux qui en demandent toujours plus (For those who always ask for more) Plus luxueuse à l'intérieur (More luxurious inside) Des pneus Michelin (Michelin tires) Une allure vraiment sportive (A really sport look) PLus grande fiabilité et encore plus de plaisir (More reliable and even more fun) Et lorsqu'elles seront parties il n'y en aura plus(When they'll be gone, there won't be no more) Faites vite (Hurry up)
@brickster240 Yeah, I just know its a Quebec ad simply because in Quebec they drive the same cars as they do in the US, which at the time included the Toyota Tercel (which wasn't sold in Europe). By the way my great uncle owned a 1986 Toyota Tercel station wagon that he said developed rust problems by the time he inherited his late sister's 1995 Honda Accord in 2000.
Oh and I take it by babel-fish translation "Qui pourrait en demander plus" is French for the slogan Toyota used at the time in the US saying "Who could ask for anything more?" Babelfish translates it to "who could ask for some more?" but I know based on other Toyota commercials at the time what it really meant.
Cool ad... I only remember a little french in high school; "mille neuf-cent quatre-vingt six" the narrator says for 1986 but like what do the people chant at the beginning? "Plus", for more? Also, I take this commercial is from Quebec did they ever sell the Tercel in France?

I don't see any more set up like that these days.

No one knew those would rust through really quick at that time! hehe
But they were sooooo reliable. It's sad such good cars had such a bad rust protection.
Is it just me or the guy who drives the car seems not... ... completely comfortable? heheh
and yes, this is definetly a Québec ad, based on the way the narrator speaks.
