Actually, Archer did many experiments with unscrewing the cap in varying degrees and the consensus was that it was better to leave the cap untouched.

if you throw it by the cap it will spin less and cause it to go up straiter when it cracks, and if you don't shake it before you throw it it will release all its energy the second it cracks.
